In response to the series of Planned Parenthood videos that clearly reflect the utilitarian ethos of the global abortion organization, Archbishop Blase Cupich of Chicago advanced an extreme application of the consistent ethic of life. Yet his own interventions on social teaching indicate that the principal criticism of the consistent ethic approach, namely that it serves to marginalize abortion in the Churchs public witness, is valid in Archbishop Cupichs case.
No Less Appalled
The widespread revulsion over the tapes arose because they unmasked the fact that, in our public conversation about abortion, we have so muted the humanity of the unborn child that some consider it quite acceptable to speak freely of crushing a childs skull to preserve valuable body parts and to have that discussion over lunch, wrote Archbishop Cupich in an Aug. 3 column for the Chicago Tribune.
This newest evidence about the disregard for the value of human life also offers the opportunity to reaffirm our commitment as a nation to a consistent ethic of life, Archbishop Cupich continued. While commerce in the remains of defenseless children is particularly repulsive, we should be no less appalled by the indifference toward the thousands of people who die daily for lack of decent medical care; who are denied rights by a broken immigration system and by racism; who suffer in hunger, joblessness and want; who pay the price of violence in gun-saturated neighborhoods; or who are executed by the state in the name of justice.

Cupich is no Late Cardinal George Francis.
Back in January 2015, at the Illinois Right to Life, Cupich said to be truly Pro-life is to be: Against abortion, pro-immigrant rights, and pro-gun control.
Also at a pro-illegal immigrant rally, Cupich loudly wondered if those who are pro-border security have hatred in their hearts.
I suspect Cupich and other Catholic Bishops will declare that voting for Trump is a sin, should Trump get the GOP nomination.
Wow.. somebody is really impressed with this dude’s “title”...
Archbishop Blase Cupich of Chicago

I don't accept that ....I just don't...
this is how leftists get away with their preposterous take on anything: they bring out the piety act...
~ Cardinal Francis George
Also Cupich is instructing local parishes to be more welcoming and non-judgemental of non-traditional families. He is promoting Cardinal Kasper’s policy.
Cupich commits a mortal sin every time he gives communion to a pro-abort politician. He is also not pro-life. When he was bishop of Spokane he would not let parish priests participate in any pro-life marches, this includes 40 Days for Life. Cardinal George was everything Cupich is not. George was a great, devout Catholic. Cupich is anything but. Being selected as Archbishop of Chicago just shows you how far the Catholic Church has fallen in America. He’s also been selected to participate in the Synod of the Family so look for him to be one of the liberals pushing for communion for divorced and remarried and the church recognizing sodomite unions. Thank God the African cardinals will be there to shoot down the libs like Cupich.

I think Cupich was a terrible pick for Archbishop of Chicago, but last time I checked, his "late, great predecessor" Cardinal George ALSO gave Holy Communion to pro-abortion politicians, marched for illegal immigrant "rights" and promoted amnesty, and happily championed "gun control" laws.
Let's not pretend otherwise.
