Pope Benedict XVI; the first Father of The Church since +Gregory Palamas!
“Pope Benedict XVI; the first Father of The Church since +Gregory Palamas!”
Oh, come on! What about Pope Pius V?
Have you read Pope Benedict’s lectures on the Fathers of the Church? They’re part of a collection of his talks during the weekly Angelus observances, and each one is a like a gem of a college lecture.
We had a substitute pastor at our church in San Antonio who was a theology professor. Most people found his sermons dull, but I was mentally taking notes and preparing for the term paper and the exam.
Anyway, Ignatius Press sells a reasonably-priced hardcover set of Pope Benedict’s talks. Each is only about 8 pages, so it’s perfect for quick reading opportunities, like while the water boils or the baby sits on the toilet.
May I ask please, what does the “+” mean in front of certain men’s names? I’ve seen others use it I’ve never understood its significance.
Thank you in advance,
