As the world waits to see what the end of a seven-year biblical cycle known as the Shemitah may bring this fall, New York Times best-selling author Rabbi Jonathan Cahn issued a warning to prepare for economic calamity, war in the Middle East or even worse.

In The Mystery of the Shemitah, Cahn described how this biblical pattern is connected to numerous events in modern history, including the rise of America to superpower status, World Wars I and II, the return of the Jewish people to their ancient homeland, the Six-Day War and even the rising of the World Trade Center.
He also noted a pattern of judgments at seven-year intervals in September 2001 and 2008 marked by the greatest crashes in Wall Street history, up to that time. The first occurred on Sept. 17, 2001, just a few days after the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, and the second occurred on Sept. 29, 2008. Both occurred on the biblical day of Elul 29, the very day appointed to wipe out the financial accounts of a nation. The next one occurs on Sept. 13.
"For years, financial observers have been mystified why it is that all the greatest crashes tend to take place the same time of year," Cahn says. "When is it? September to October. What if we take the greatest crashes in history. Do any of them take place at the end of the seven-year cycle of the Shemitah at the time of the wipeout and the answer is, 'Yes.' Every single one of them does. And the thing is the phenomenon is increasing. It's intensifying."

If the people making these predictions are correct then this fall there should be a calamity of Biblical proportions. If it passes quietly then they are people who are not interested in anything but selling books.
I would be very careful about observing the Shemitah. There are certain things God ordained for Israel that do not apply to the Church. Replacement theology is dangerous and wrong, the Church is not Israel. I’m not saying things cannot happen on these cycles, but I think a lot of discernment is in order.

A lot of people have been getting that type of "feeling" (discerning spirit) about the September time-frame.
Have not read that book, (but pretty familiar with THE Book) but have read a little about the Shemitah along with some refutations.
But there are a number of reasons for having that feeling about this September/October - the homosexual "marriage" thing, the "ho-hum" response to killing babies and selling "parts", the betrayal of Israel....
God will not be mocked, one only has to be aware of the Biblical history of Israel to know that even though God is "long-suffering", He WILL visit judgment.
It is not just Christians or Jews who are ‘feeling’ this Spirit. Even the pagans are talking about the odd retrograde happening this weekend and that it is a time for decision making.

Point well taken. I wouldn’t know how to go about OBSERVING the Shemitah if I wanted to. In fact, I am a little leery of current day preachers who say we Christians should be observing the old Hebrew feasts, etc. Well, if we are, how come we’re just now hearing about it? How come it isn’t mentioned in the Epistles?
All I, as a Christian know how to do in the financial realm is to tithe. I have been a tither since shortly after I got saved. I’m only doing what I KNOW to do. Beyond that, if there’s a crash this September, I’ll just stick close to the Lord and trust HIM to see me through.

Our roots are in Judaism and in Israel. I don’t think it diminishes us to understand and follow God’s directions to his chosen people , as we can
God chose Israel, not America but it is also pretty clear from Biblical prophets that nations derive benefits from supporting Israel and risk calamity if they become her foe or take up arms against her

Food without water is all, but useless Look into getting a good water filter as well as an alternative way of cooking.

From everything that I’m reading in terms of global economics as well as our own we are in for another financial hit like 2008, but much worse starting this fall.
