President Vladimir Putin, former KGB agent of a once-atheist nation, rebukes America, a once-Christian nation by saying that by forsaking traditional Christian values and putting same-sex marriage on the same level as traditional marriage with a man, woman, and children, the nation is forsaking God and believing in Satan and will be led into degradation and chaotic darkness.
At the height of the Cold War, it was common for American conservatives to label the officially atheist Soviet Union a “godless nation.”
More than two decades on, history has come full circle, as the Kremlin and its allies in the Russian Orthodox Church hurl the same allegation at the West.
“Many Euro-Atlantic countries have moved away from their roots, including Christian values,” Russian President Vladimir Putin said in a recent keynote speech. “Policies are being pursued that place on the same level a multi-child family and a same-sex partnership, a faith in God and a belief in Satan. This is the path to degradation.”
In his state of the nation address in mid-December, Mr. Putin also portrayed Russia as a staunch defender of “traditional values” against what he depicted as the morally bankrupt West. Social and religious conservatism, the former KGB officer insisted, is the only way to prevent the world from slipping into “chaotic darkness.”
As part of this defense of “Christian values,” Russia has adopted a law banning “homosexual propaganda” and another that makes it a criminal offense to “insult” the religious sensibilities of believers.
The law on religious sensibilities was adopted in the wake of a protest in Moscow’s largest cathedral by a female punk rock group against the Orthodox Church’s support of Mr. Putin. Kremlin-run television said the group’s “demonic” protest was funded by “some Americans.”

As much as I agree with the ungodliness of same-sex marriage, I can’t shake the feeling that when it comes to Putin, I’m being had...
We don’t need Polonium Pooty-Poot, killer by poisoning of those who he dislikes, to lecture us on anything related to God. We can do it ourselves.

If only we’d listened.
Russia has a lot of problems and it’s government is at or near the top of that list. But whatever else may be wrong over there, they are solidly on the right side of the great moral issues of our age. They are even taking steps (albeit slowly) to curb abortion.
They need to get rid of that KGB klepto-thug Putin and restore their Christian Monarchy. Then clean house.

I know what you mean. Putin is a full out proud (Post-Soviet) Russian. However Putin is westernized enough to know how to read, feed and manipulate the American public. It’s alarmingly simple for anyone to analyze and figure out.
It may be more wack that that if it’s true that the Soviets were responsible for exercising a policy of “de-moralization” against the US that ran secularist/humanist tentacles through our education system and helped stimulate the illegal drug trade.
But Iran is ok?

My how far we’ve fallen when Russia’s leader has to lecture us on morality.
In this case, Putin reminds me of Trump. When he speaks truth, he deserves credit. Truth is hard to come by in DC and irritates the jeebies out of the elites.
In reality, Putin has been photographed wearing his crucifix, describes his mother’s devotions to the Rosary, restored Catholic Orthodox Churches in
Russia, claimed disdain for undressed women protestors in churches, reportedly banned Protestants from proselytizing in Russia and has befriended the archbishops.
He also has reportedly politicized the Church in Russia entirely. He like Pope Francis is rather an enigma, full of contadictions.
Aren’t we all. It’s just more dangerous if and when it exists at that level.
