That's not the purpose of FR and not the purpose of our Religion forum. Trashing religion is not debate.
Those who cannot live with this are welcome to post elsewhere.
This thread is an excellent example

(btw, I am not Catholic, and I think Jim has made absolutely the right decision here)
That is incorrect. There are rules posted in the religion forum. You might want to look for them.
Have you seen the Viking kitties? Are you pining for the fjords?
Thanks for the kind and thoughtful encouragement...
I agree. But I can foresee a scenario wherein one poster will critique the pope and another will refer to this thread. Regardless what you or I may believe and how clear it may be to us, clarity might eliminate future issues, and I believe that is the point of this thread.
Does that apply to all the other religions that you have allowed to be thoroughly run over here for years as well?
That’s why I worded my post to allow for criticism of relgions that advocate terrorism and/or against our American values of religious liberty.
Thank you JR!!!!!!
I'm not quite sure how to take that, but as a straight shooter I don't take it as a straight shot. I do not approve of spreading lies in any form about other people or their beliefs. I asked for a clarification which I think most thinking people would appreciate and honor. The best you could muster appears to be a dismissal. OK, if that is what you think. Hey, this is your place and I'm just a guest.
I am sorry, I cannot reach your link. For some reason it does not work.
Just did.
Emo Philips:
Once I saw this guy on a bridge about to jump.
I said, “Don’t do it!”
He said, “Nobody loves me.”
I said, “God loves you. Do you believe in God?”
He said, “Yes.”
I said, “Are you a Christian or a Jew?”
He said, “A Christian.”
I said, “Me, too! Protestant or Catholic?”
He said, “Protestant.”
I said, “Me, too! What franchise?”
He said, “Baptist.”
I said, “Me, too! Northern Baptist or Southern Baptist?”
He said, “Northern Baptist.”
I said, “Me, too! Northern Conservative Baptist or Northern Liberal Baptist?”
He said, “Northern Conservative Baptist.”
I said, “Me, too! Northern Conservative Baptist Great Lakes Region, or Northern Conservative Baptist Eastern Region?”
He said, “Northern Conservative Baptist Great Lakes Region.”
I said, “Me, too! Northern Conservative Baptist Great Lakes Region Council of 1879, or Northern Conservative Baptist Great Lakes Region Council of 1912?”
He said, “Northern Conservative Baptist Great Lakes Region Council of 1912.”
I said, “Die, heretic!” And I pushed him over.
I’ve always been up front about it. FR is pro-God. That is the one true Judeo-Christian God of the Holy Bible. We will worship none other. And no false gospel shall be taught here as Truth.
I don’t think you are using common sense FRiend. Jim Rob is not saying people can’t discuss or even debate religious issues. What he is saying is that a deliberate barrage of anti-Catholic posts, which HAS been ongoing for some time, needs to stop. And yes, there have been some Catholic posts over the years (I’ve been lurking here for a long time) that pushed the envelope. But, and I say this as a former Roman Catholic, the attack posts aimed at the Catholics have been by far the greater problem. Lately it’s been off the hook.
So yes, I would say that Catholics, and anyone else for that matter, needs to exercise a modicum of restraint when posting threads critical of other peoples’ religious beliefs. I remember a similar barrage of anti-Mormon threads. And there is a big difference between posting about someone converting into your church, and posting an article damning the members of someone else’s as Hell bound pagans.
When a Pope is wrong he’s wrong. And this one is wrong about a lot of things. He’d do well to stick to his knitting.
lol! Fair enough.
Thank you Jim.
No practicing Catholic would ever bash another religion
