DEARBORN (CBS Detroit) Because it has the greatest Arab population in the United States, a pastor with a soft drawl, earnest delivery and alleged anti-Semitic rhetoric plans to march on Dearborn.
The suburban Detroit city is the target of Steve Anderson, pastor of Faithful World Baptist Church in Tempe, Ariz., for a march planned for Friday, June 26.
Anderson says hes going to bring as many followers as he can plus 1,000 copies of his movie Marching to Zion which has been criticized as anti-Semitic to distribute to what he perceives as a receptive Muslim audience. He urges followers to order Free Palestine T-shirts from Amazon.com for their demonstration.
If you wear this shirt, its going to protect you in Dearborn, he says.

Ishmael’s mother was descended from Ham—not Shem.

Also, Canaan was Ham’s son, and Canaanites, Phoenicians, same thing.

“Independent Baptist ... what could go wrong ?...”
Probably not as much as with a progressive Pope declaring the worlds greatest threats to be [man-caused] “climate change,” overpopulation, and the need for a new sovereign global government to deal with it.
This Tempe, Arizona guy is not fundamental in doctrine, and clearly does not hold to baptistic or biblical theology.
Actually, I do not know of any “Baptist” in the Phoenix area who would recognize the legitimacy of such nonsense.
I agree however, he is out to get some publicity for himself.
Seems a bit like the Westboro Baptist “pastor” in some respects.
Only in the Westboro case, the “pastor” had no theological training, had been a democrat, who previously worked with the ACLU, worked to get a number of democrats elected to office over the course of at least two decades, and had almost nothing but family and extended family for membership.
In both cases, they have served to bring a bad name to Christianity and are nothing more than glory hounds.

It’s not like I disagree with the idea that muslims need to be saved, just like everyone else.
And if they did get saved, that would be a good thing for everyone all around for a variety of reasons.
And as far as his alleged anti-Semite position, it’s weird to me that people are castigated for being anti-Jewish when virtually the whole world is anti-Jewish in the way they treat Israel, our country included. (FWIW, I am not familiar with his position. It’s just that I don’t trust the MSM reporting and the word *alleged* leads me to believe that they are grasping at straws for something to smear him with.)
But his claims are a bit presumptuous. If you wear his shirt you’ll be safe.....
I don’t know about that....

Only in the Westboro case, the pastor had no theological training, False
Phelps attended Bob Jones University, for two years (1946-1948) before dropping out. He cited racial issues as the reason for his departure; in 1994 former college employees told the Topeka Capital Journal that Phelps left after being given an ultimatum that he either seek psychiatric counselling or be expelled.[13] He then attended the Prairie Bible Institute for the remaining two semesters of his freshman year.[13]
The Westboro Baptist Church originated as a branch of the East Side Baptist Church in Topeka,[13] established in 1931 on the east side of Topeka.[14] In 1954, East Side hired Phelps as an associate pastor, and then promoted him to be the pastor of their new church plant, Westboro Baptist, which opened in 1955 on the west side of Topeka.[13] Soon after Westboro was established, Phelps broke all ties with East Side Baptist.
This Tempe, Arizona guy is not fundamental in doctrine, and clearly does not hold to baptistic or biblical theology.
How does the doctrinal statement of his faith community differ from your Independent Baptist faith community ? What evidence is there that yours is more legitimate than his ?
Doctrinal Statement
We believe that the King James Bible is the word of God without error. We believe that salvation is by grace through faith. Being born again by believing on the Lord Jesus Christ is the only requirement for salvation. We believe in the eternal security of the believer (once saved, always saved). We believe that the unsaved will spend eternity in torment in a literal hell. We believe that Jesus is God, and that Jesus Christ was conceived of the Holy Ghost and born of the virgin Mary. We believe only in the local church and not in a universal church. We reject the teaching of Calvinism and believe that God wants everyone to be saved. We believe that the rapture will take place after the tribulation but before God pours out his wrath on this earth. We reject dispensationalism. We believe that life begins at conception (fertilization) and reject all forms of abortion including surgical abortion, "morning-after" pills, IVF (In Vitro Fertilization), birth control pills, and all other processes that end life after conception. We believe that homosexuality is a sin and an abomination which God punishes with the death penalty. We oppose worldliness, modernism, formalism, and liberalism.
Pastor Anderson started Faithful Word Baptist Church on December 25, 2005. He holds no college degree but has well over 140 chapters of the Bible memorized word-for-word, including approximately half of the New Testament. Today, most Baptist churches are started by Bible colleges. However, the Bible makes it clear that the church is the pillar and ground of the truth, not a school. Faithful Word Baptist Church is a totally independent Baptist church, and Pastor Anderson was sent out by a totally independent Baptist church to start it the old-fashioned way by knocking doors and winning souls to Christ.
God has blessed Faithful Word Baptist Church tremendously. Thousands have been saved, many have been baptized, and many more have learned to win souls both door-to-door and in their daily lives.

It’s bad enough that liberals always bracket “gays and Jews.” Do FReepers have to do it as well?

Must be one of those "identity" thugs.

LOL you left out the part about the Pope telling us to seek God's forgiveness for blocking illegal immigration.

Attacking Catholics in this thread, or linking to another thread to do so, will not remove the antisemitism from the Independent Baptist who is the topic of this thread.

They never miss a chance to attack the One True Church. Just keep in mind that is Satan working through them. Don’t worry though, Jesus said “gates of hell will not prevail” against it.

It will if he takes a Catholic priest along who is carrying the Blessed Sacrament — the Body and Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ — with him.

I suppose you have not heard this man’s sermons against the Church. He is after all a grad of Hyles-Anderson College, so don’t be too surprised when a sex scandal around him/about him breaks. Jack Hyles, Jack Schaap et al were all messing around, Schaap is still in prison for the teen he molested. Every man Jack Hyles has gotten a hold of seems to be a sex maniac in my opinion, I look at this man no differently and would treat him as such.

The man who is the topic of this thread, marching against Israel, has a biography posted on his faith community's website saying he did not attend Bible College and was commissioned by an anonymous Independent Baptist assembly. It is unjust to assume he is sexually immoral without evidence; one standard measure for both Catholics and Protestants.
