As weve all heard by now, the Duggars have some skeletons in their family closet. While the news is buzzing with the very bad things Josh Duggar did to some of his sisters over a decade ago, what people arent talking about is the fact that the girls have recently been victimized as recent as today.
Youve seen it in your own social media news feed and you may even have participated.
Before I go on, let me explain that this isnt about Josh. This isnt defending Josh. I dont even want to talk about what Josh did for the purpose of this article because, frankly, the past cant be undone, and it was dealt with a decade ago. However, these innocent girls are being victimized NOW, and it needs to stop.
I will say it again Yes, Josh Duggar did some very, very bad things. That is clear. But what might not be so clear is the tragedy the innocent Duggar girls woke up to this very week.
What many dont realize is that the backlash in the news and social media is only victimizing those girls all over again. They are once again reliving every horrid detail of something that happened over a decade ago, something that they put behind them even if we cant understand how or why.
This is something the family had addressed, and luckily, were able to overcome. Although we may not agree with their methods of doing so, who are we to tell any victim the right way to handle and cope with their abuse and their feelings that result from it?
If youve ever been sexually abused, its not something you want thrown into the public limelight for all to talk about and judge ...

Criticism of your family would be fair if they had tried to cover up the murder, and then accepted a TV show, portraying themselves and your brother as moral examples. That’s what the Duggars did.
And I think they are very, very far from normal.
WTF are you babbling about? What Duggar did isn't remotely comparable to murder. The parents went to a police officer and didn't try to cover the act up. They cooperated with a police investigation on the matter.
The dirty little secret is that Josh Duggar wasn't prosecuted because the local DA decided not to press charges in 2006. The statute of limitations on criminal sexual abuse charges is seven years in Arkansas.
This situation was left to the family by local authorities as it often is. Why? Because of the age of Duggar at the time and the fact that local authorities realize when a young teen does something like this more often than not it has absolutely nothing to with pedophilia.
You're posting in the Religion forum. Watch your language.
"You What Duggar did isn't remotely comparable to murder."
It was an analogy. I'm sure the thinking people on the forum were able to figure that out.
" The parents went to a police officer and didn't try to cover the act up. They cooperated with a police investigation on the matter."
Wrong.
The Duggar father was told about the first incidence of abuse in 2002. He did nothing. A few months later Josh admitted it, and was "disciplined." The police were not notified.
In 2003, Josh molested several more times, and the Duggar father went to the church elders. The police were not called.
Several months later, Josh was sent away to a summer job, and then allowed to move back in with the sisters he molested. Late in the year, Pop Duggar's state trooper friend gave Josh a "stern talking-to."
Two years later, the Duggars' first special aired on TV.
"The dirty little secret is that Josh Duggar wasn't prosecuted because the local DA decided not to press charges in 2006. The statute of limitations on criminal sexual abuse charges is seven years in Arkansas."
There seem to be lots of dirty little secrets floating around this bunch, but that's not one of them. When the police first opened up the investigation, Pop Duggar refused to bring in his golden boy for questioning. The parents were interviewed. And you're correct, the statute of limitations had run out, but that's a widely known fact.
"This situation was left to the family by local authorities as it often is."
Hold on, now. You just said Josh wasn't prosecuted because the SOL had run out. Now you're saying, oh, it was just left to the family as is customary. Can't have both. Which is it?
" Why? Because of the age of Duggar at the time and the fact that local authorities realize when a young teen does something like this more often than not it has absolutely nothing to with pedophilia."
A pedophile is an adult who gets turned on by children, but you're playing with words here.
A fourteen year-old is in high school, and knows perfectly well that fondling the vaginas of his sisters is wrong. No excuses, no "boys will be boys" garbage.
Teenaged males have outlets for their hormones that don't involve sticking their hands up the skirts of their five year-old sisters.
LET HIM WHO IS WITHOUT SIN THROW the first stone (Jesus.) >>>
and that’s the democrat quote often used when a democrat politician does something wrong or commits a crime, like the Clintons.
I’ve read about half of the comments and I wondered :
Some of these commenters are
like a dog with a bone, they won’t let it go until every last bit of flavor is gone.
Or like a pack of sharks in a feeding frenzy, they keep biting and feeding until there’s nothing left to consume.
Then about some, I wonder what’s in their past that makes them so vengeful and, dare I say, hateful?
I find myself hoping they seek counselling for whatever it may be.
Then there are some in this world who hate because it makes them feel better about themselves.
Then some just love to see that other peoples lives have misery and heartbreak too. And they feel a bit better about their own lives.
For myself, I will pray for the family and all who try to tear them down as well as for myself, because the Lord knows I have skeletons enough of my own and have no need to borrow someone else’s.
Flame away if it makes you feel better.
I wear my big boy pants every day.
ITA. You took the words outta my mouth.
I’m with many others. The Duggars danced with the devil....fame and money....and now the devil is taking his payment.
Quit pretending you know a thing about the subject matter.

Experts say the young offenders differ from adult sex offenders not only in their lower recidivism rates, but in the diversity of their motives and abusive behavior.
While some youths commit violent, premeditated acts of sexual assault and rape, others get in trouble for behavior arising from curiosity, naivete, peer pressure, momentary irresponsibility, misinterpretation of what they believed was mutual interest, and a host of other reasons. Some cases involve sibling incest; sometimes the offenders have autism or other developmental disorders that lessen their ability to self-police inappropriate conduct.
"There needs to be a highly discriminative response system," said sociologist David Finkelhor, director of the University of New Hampshire's Crimes Against Children Research Center. "It needs to differentiate between the kids we should stigmatize as little as possible, who are probably going to be fine with some kind of education, and others who need a lot of intervention, including maybe incarceration, because they pose a tremendous risk."
"We run a big risk if we get it wrong," he added. "We fail to protect the public on one hand, or we ruin the lives of young people who might otherwise be headed in a healthy direction."
In most cases of child-on-child sex abuse, the public never hears about it. Experts say many incidents are never reported in the first place, due to the shame or embarrassment of victims and their parents, and most of the cases that are reported are handled confidentially through the juvenile justice system.
There have been thousands of troubled teens that have done what Josh Duggar did and ended up being perfectly well-adjusted adults. The only thing different about him is that he opposes gay marriage and abortion as an adult. That makes him a target for the left.
You're piling on because you also have some kind of agenda.
That is not the equivalent of doing nothing. His father knew he had problems and tried to get him help. I'd wager thousands of parents have opted for a similar approach over going to the police.
There was no financial motive since the Duggar's reality show didn't exist at the time.
Many parents love their children and would prefer to straight them out without having to go to the police.
And, putting his sisters through a trial and media scrutiny was something a lot of parents might want to try to avoid.
You can disagree with how his father handled it but to make him out to be monster makes you a heartless ass.
You don't know the father, the parents or the family or their motivation.
The Bible itself is about redemption. Lot ended up having sex with his daughter. David committed adultery and murder. Paul persecuted and killed believers. Would you like to tell everyone what lousy human beings they were? Or can someone do terrible things and be redeemed? How do you know Duggar hasn't made peace with God?
Say what?
I did not even know who these folks were till now but I heard my 12 year old boy watches them
He’s disillusioned and Annette has sorta blown it off with vague non specific synopsis To him hoping he won’t dig deep
Myself I watch more high minded reality like Southern Charm or Housewives..lol
I don’t know the details of the abuse but it sounds rough
They put themselves on TV and have to live with being famous.
I would wager I’m considered a pretty fair distance from self righteous about sex by anyone here who frequents religious forums
I’ve made no bones that I love women and make no apologies about my adoration of their beauty clothed or otherwise and sexuality and how the company of a fine woman and all she brings to the table is the number one thing on this planet ...it’s Gods greatest earthly gift to man....a rib well spent
All that aside....if a 14-15 year old boy.....age my ggrandfather married my ggrandmother in 1901....digitally stimulates his toddler to preschool sisters vulva and vagina and God forbid...clitoris....whew....disgusting etc and rubbed his erection on them and so forth
I don’t know all the ages of the girls or how he got caught
It’s bad....it’s real bad....it’s damned ugly just to write that
That’s not playing doctor or curiousity between little kids
That’s predatory and a normal man knows that
As a father of 2 girls as well as 3 boys i remember cleaning up baby girls....all giggly and wide eyed and innocent but as a grown man it’s still....well weird.....I’ve done many a diaper
Unless it’s the dad cleaning them up for dirty diaper or chiggers or something like that no other grown male has any business around a prepubescent girl.....and like I said....you still feel weird cleaning up girls once they go past infant....I don’t think moms feel that way with boys so much so they popped them out and all
(Did that make any sense)
What I want to know is how the boy got there.....trust me....he didn’t just think it up
There’s a path to that point....
Man what a pathetic affair....
“What I want to know is how the boy got there.....trust me....he didnt just think it up”
We are prone to sin. We are inclined toward evil. It’s in our nature. That’s why all of us are in need of a Savior, daily.
That’s great but that’s not why we don’t all molest kids
Agree completely...but you’d be surprised the times I’ve been told, “Oh, it’s perfectly normal, just boys being boys, etc.”
Not in any kind of normal world, and I have to wonder what these folks are basing their opinions on.
The father did nothing when the first girl came to him and told him what happened. He "disciplined" the boy only after he admitted it three months later...and what does that mean, anyway? We don't know.
Despite the "discipline", the molestations continued.
"There was no financial motive since the Duggar's reality show didn't exist at the time."
Money came into play when they accepted the offer of a TV show, stupidly thinking they could keep this covered up and it would never see the light of day. They chose to portray themselves, and their son, as some kind of moral examples.
"Many parents love their children and would prefer to straight them out without having to go to the police."
Sometimes calling the police is what's needed to shock them into cleaning up their act----coddling does no good. Proof of that is in the fact that Josh continued to molest his sisters after his "discipline."
"And, putting his sisters through a trial and media scrutiny was something a lot of parents might want to try to avoid."
There would have been no media scrutiny since, as you say, it all happened before they got the TV show; besides, they were all minors.
"You can disagree with how his father handled it but to make him out to be monster makes you a heartless ass.
You don't know the father, the parents or the family or their motivation."
Well, I know Josh repeatedly and forcibly (according to the police report) fondled the breasts and vaginas of his sisters, entering their bedrooms to do so. I know that he was caught with his hand stuck up the skirt of his little five year-old sister. All of that makes him a pervert, like it or not. If you want to get all huffy and defensive over it, be my guest, but the facts are what they are.
As for the parents, I see what they put out there on the screen, and I've always thought they were creepy and weird. I never understood what being a Christian has to do with a grown woman dressing like an oversized six year-old in jumpers and Peter Pan collars.
Actually, I think the Duggars are freaks. A glance at the youtube video of Pop Duggar grinding into his wife's rear while telling his teenaged daughter and her fiancee, "See what we can do because we're married, and you can't" sort of brings one to that conclusion. Yeah...the protestations of modesty are covering up some real strangeness there.
"The Bible itself is about redemption. Lot ended up having sex with his daughter. David committed adultery and murder. Paul persecuted and killed believers. Would you like to tell everyone what lousy human beings they were? Or can someone do terrible things and be redeemed? How do you know Duggar hasn't made peace with God?"
I don't, and neither do you.
It's interesting to note, though, that Josh said in his statement that continuing down his path would have ruined HIS life. What about the girls' lives?
That's the pattern, though, isn't it? The lion's share of the concern seems to be reserved for Josh instead of the ones who deserve it---his victims.
We know that redemption is available for everyone who repents. But I'm not going to go around comparing the Duggars to King David. If it makes you happy, go right ahead.
That's what I'll never understand...the degree of fawning that goes on over that odd TV family to the point that criticism is not allowed....even when one is outed as a pervert and the parents as cover-ups.
Well said. Thank you.
I'm sure the girls considerably given the attacks on their family by the media over acts they have long since recovered from.
The girls were violated when this police report was unlawfully released to the media.
And how in the wide, wide world of sports do you know they've "long since recovered from" it? Have you talked with them? Counseled them?
Apparently Josh was the only brother the sisters wouldn't have in their wedding parties, so it would seem they aren't quite over it. But good on them for not sucking up to the pervert just for appearances' sake.
"The girls were violated when this police report was unlawfully released to the media."
Let's have things straight here.
They were violated when their brother crawled into their rooms at night, and forcibly---according to the police report---lifted their clothing and fondled their privates.
Because they have said they put the incident behind them and forgiven their brother.
One thing is for sure -- releasing a police report unlawfully and liberals bashing the family is not helping the victims.
