Mamma Mia – Perfectly in God’s Design, as Seen in a Short Video

My mother died a little more than ten years ago, quite tragically and suddenly. At first her presence seemed so far away, her soothing voice with its gentle mid-western accent, gone. But then about six months ago, in my heart and deep in my thoughts, I had a sense that suddenly she moved closer to me. Perhaps her purgation was at an end, or perhaps some roadblock in my own heart moved. But there she was, and once again I vividly felt her tender prayers. Thank you, Lord.

With Mother’s Day not far off, the following video showed up in my subscription list from Igniter Media. As the video shows, perfect mothers do not exist—real ones do. And it is the real ones who love and care for us. I learned so much from my mother, even in her struggles. She was my mother, the mother God wonderfully gave me, the mother whose sacrifices I could never number. She was so human and yet so godly, so down-to-earth and practical and yet so heavenly and spiritual. She was not a perfect mother, and I was not a perfect son. But she was perfectly my mother, and I was perfectly her son, in God’s design.

Enjoy this video.

I know this is a commercial, but it is so cute — and worth watching.

My best friend lives out of town, with her husband and three boys. We have a running joke, even after all these years, about the laundry and the messy room... Even now that the kids are grown. I had to send that video! Thanks!

The laundry was the biggest problem for me. My kids bedrooms were all upstairs and they always got inspected. Then sometimes trashed by me when I found all the dirty clothes hidden in the back corner of the closet!

Big clean-up surprise for them when they got home from school. LOL!

Something that every mother goes through.

God bless our mothers.

**She was not a perfect mother, and I was not a perfect son. But she was perfectly my mother, and I was perfectly her son, in God’s design.**

Amen. I thank God every day for the wonderful parents He gave me. As Job said, the Lord giveth, and the Lord taketh away: their journey on earth is finished, and my heart aches to see them, even though I talk to them all the time.

Strange, isn't it, that possibly the two closest people in your life had a whole life of their own before you came along, and you don't stop to think of that when you're growing up? When you're little, well, it's all about you; when you're a teen, you think they're clueless; get a little older and more responsible, and you realize that they didn't have it so easy, because life just isn't that simple. They had courage, faith, dreams of their own that may have gone unfulfilled. But they had each other, and stuck together through some awfully tough times.

And then there's the part of the process when they're gone, and part of you goes with them. You feel it every day, because your words, your mannerisms, your inmost thoughts, are in large part a gift from them. It's not DNA, or adoption papers: it's that capacity to love unconditionally; to pass on their wisdom, and that of generations before them, and to sacrifice some of their own dreams so that yours could come true.

They leave love behind. And love never dies.
