Mary IS Jesus' mother. To describe her as a "minor player" in Christianity shows ignorance or intellectual dishonesty. Would you describe your mother as a "minor player" in your life?

Martin Luther's perspective:

"She is rightly called not only the mother of the man, but also the Mother of God ... It is certain that Mary is the Mother of the real and true God."

John Calvin's perspective:

"Elizabeth called Mary Mother of the Lord, because the unity of the person in the two natures of Christ was such that she could have said that the mortal man engendered in the womb of Mary was at the same time the eternal God.....It cannot be denied that God in choosing and destining Mary to be the Mother of his Son, granted her the highest honor...To this day we cannot enjoy the blessing brought to us in Christ without thinking at the same time of that which God gave as adornment and honour to Mary, in willing her to be the mother of his only-begotten Son."

Ulrich Zwingli's perspective:

"It was given to her what belongs to no creature, that in the flesh she should bring forth the Son of God...I firmly believe that Mary, according to the words of the gospel as a pure Virgin brought forth for us the Son of God and in childbirth and after childbirth forever remained a pure, intact Virgin...I esteem immensely the Mother of God, the ever chaste, immaculate Virgin Mary...Christ ... was born of a most undefiled Virgin...The more the honor and love of Christ increases among men, so much the esteem and honor given to Mary should grow."

Well, yes, my mother is a minor player in my life, but that has nothing to do with Mary or her role. Re-read the OP and notice that she is just an ordinary girl selected for an extraordinary task. But, the task is to bear the real Extraordinary Person into His incarnate state. And, all eyes should be on Him...not her. Calvin, Zwingli, Luther notwithstanding. And, the kind of inordinate adoration given her by Rome is part of what makes Rome a broken organization. The rest comes from the other errant, non-biblical doctrines promulgated by her.

What was Abraham Lincoln's mother's name?

Then he's an idiot!

The Roman Ctholic Church  has turned the beautiful, blessed lady of Scripture into an asexual, frigid Jewish wife; who withheld her favors from Joseph for no rational reason.

Why ??? was she planning to have another baby sans an Earthy father at a later date ???

What was the need to get married but not have sex with her lawful husband if she could just keep on popping out babies on her own ???

No she got married so that she could have a normal relationship with the father that the baby would need there in the home...and naturally children followed..

Jesus needed a father a father and a mother to act normally and o be an example to him and teach Him what He would need to know to grow up normally..

Ya notice God never put Mary with another woman..there was no Jesus has two mommies..

God would not have gone against His own word..

Marriage did not stop because Jesus was born..it continued just as God had designed it centuries before..

and 2,000 years later marriage between a man and a women is still important to God...

Paul said:

“Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave Himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the Word, and to present her to Himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. After all, no one ever hated their own body, but they feed and care for their body, just as Christ does the church—for we are members of his body.

“For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and THE TWO WILL BECOME ONE FLESH.” This is a profound mystery—but I am talking about Christ and the church. However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband. Ephesians 5:25-33

Why would Mary not fulfill all righteousness and be an example to the believers ???

Even the LORD Jesus Christ said that marriage included having sex...He never said except for my Mom..

“But at the beginning of creation God ‘made them male and female.’ For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.’ So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.” Mark 10:6-10

Who would think that Mary or Joseph would have had any type of “separation” between them in their God ordained marriage ???

No they had a proper marriage ...

They didn’t live like brother and sister...they were man and wife...to be fruitful and multiply...

You're entitled to believe any man made fantasy you want but rejecting the simple, pure words of scripture will gain you no favors with God...
