Can you, or any other Mormon reading this, explain WHY??
I can't speak for the Church or anyone other than myself. We do use the Joseph Smith translation of Matthew as reference material when necessary. And it is considered scripture.
If there's a question about a subject, I have the Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants, Pearl of Great price, Bible, and the huge volume of writings from modern day prophets and Apostles to draw on. And of course prayer.
When I'm looking for answers I'm not restricted to just a single blurb written thousands of years ago.
