Amen to both of your statements.
Christianity is Judaism plus........what is the Shekina?
Paul was Jewish already. As was Jesus.
The divine presence of God.
There you go!
One of my Catholic cousins has converted to Islam...we think. He married a Muslim.
My late sister-in-law attended a small evangelical church in western North Carolina that had that same belief: Only members of their individual church were going to Heaven, the rest of us Christians in the family weren’t. However I could not doubt her personal faith in the salvation that Jesus gives us all. I just didn’t discuss theology with her.
Ethnically yes. But the 'Judaism' that the Lord preached isn't the Judaism of the time since. Jews that followed Jesus were Christians by Spirit, Jews by ethnicity. Judaism of Christ's time didn't believe He was the Messiah, Christians did. Judaism in general today doesn't teach Jesus Christ as the Messiah, it isn't the same. Acts 4:11-12
Do not think that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets. I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill.
Matthew 5:17
Some day I’ll learn to spell his name
**That could be one unsaid, but implied point.**
Perhaps you are not aware that mind reading is forbidden in the RF.
I have no hidden agenda. If I had meant to say something else I assure you I would have.
the Baptist chatechism is the Bible
Cant get any deeper than that...
Do you and your Catholic relatives have discussions about your respective beliefs?
The headline? As a longtime writer, I assure you that the headline might possibly have been written by Bob Allen, but far more probably by the Baptist News page editor. Page editors do headlines,
subheads, banners, photos, captions and cutlines, etc. The Mohler quote about "the differences between the Roman Catholic Church and evangelical Christianity "? He's not saying Catholics aren't Christians. He's saying Catholics aren't "evangelical" Christians. One could dispute that on the basis of the bare words without context, but in context it just means Catholics aren't "Sola Scriptura," which is of course true.
Albert Mohler is one of my favorite writers: highly well-informed, intelligent, makes his strong points clearly and is always fair, courteous and respectful.
A good model for us all.
Hi there ZC! Always good to see you on the threads.
As a member of the parish RCIA team, and one who tries to determine whether our students are ready or unready to be admitted to the sacraments, I can tell you that you are misinformed about this. We would have no problem receiving a catechumen who was a creationist.
That God is the creator of all things, visible and invisible, is a doctrine of the Catholic Church based on Scripture. The exact way, and the exact time frame in which God the Father Almighty created heaven and earth, are not part of the doctrine of the Catholic Church.
I have found that reading additional books adds to that Bible knowledge you are speaking about.
I was referring to the “implied point” of the article’s author, Bob Allen, not to you. I don’t read minds, however, I do examine texts and think of what they may be outright saying and subtle implications. I do not consider that “mind reading.”
Am I to conclude that you are, in fact, the author, Bob Allen, by your statement: “I have no hidden agenda. If I had meant to say something else I assure you I would have.” For I was referring to the article, not your comment.
Yep, to benefit from that one must believe in Christ as their Savior. Sadly adherents of Judaism don't, therefore they are different than Christians in that regard.
You don’t get it.
Southern Baptists do not believe that
I’ve been one since 1965
Very few Campbellite Church of Christ do that anymore either but I too have heard some say that when I was young
However plenty Catholics here on FR think anyone not Catholic is outside of salvation
