Evolution makes atheists out of people!
By Jonathan Sarfati
Out on ministry at churches, our speakers often encounter anguished parents (and grandparents) lamenting that their children now reject the faith in which they were raised. If you too are a parent with this same angst, I remind you that Adam and Eve failed even with the best possible raising from God Himself, as well as enjoying perfect health and living in paradise. And Judas Iscariot remained unsaved despite three years with the best teacher ever: Jesus Himself.
Evolution undermines basic Christian doctrines
Having said that, there is a common pattern in many apostasiesexposure to evolution.1 This teaches that Scripture is not the final authority; rather, uniformitarian science is. And if this same science also teaches that virgins dont conceive and dead men dont rise, can you see where this would lead to unbelief? Evolution also teaches that death has been around for millions of years, which contradicts the biblical teaching that death is the result of sin. This undermines the Gospel, because if death has no connection with sin, then how could Christs death pay for our sin?

In fact, some of these underminers are even proud of it. One of these theological termites is physics lecturer Karl Giberson.6 He is reflexively hostile to biblical creation and in love with the whole gamut of evolution, from goo to you via the zoo,7 and was vice-President of BioLogos, which is happy with the idea that Jesus was mistaken about creation.8 For many years, he taught at the ostensibly evangelical Eastern Nazarene College (ENC), but the problem is far from being isolated, as Giberson gloats:
Most evangelical colleges teach evolution, albeit quietly, carefully, and often tentatively, although there are exceptions. Those of us teaching evolution at evangelical colleges are made to feel as if we have this subversive secret we must whisper quietly in our students ears: Hey, did you know that Adam and Eve were not the first humans and never even existed? And that you can still be a Christian and believe that?9 Notice how insidious they are: just as real termites avoid the light, these theological termites undermine the Bible under the radar, in case they lose support. If the secret got out, then why would parents pay $40,000 per year to ENC? If they are to be indoctrinated in evolution, then why not at a secular university for a fraction of the price? At least with the secular university, the students would know what to expect.
The results have been disastrous. While Giberson and his fellow compromisers wanted these students to spread their evolution into their churches, instead they have abandoned the church (so at least the rot doesnt spread):
[I]nstead scientifically informed young evangelicals became so alienated from their home churches that they walked away, taking their enlightenment with them.
Many of my most talented former students no longer attend any church, and some have completely abandoned their faith traditions.

His own "strategy" of evolution education backfired (see article and also the quote above.)
The Father of Lies starts the death of faith with his go-to line, “Has God said .?” From there man’s sinful reasoning and excusing of sin kicks in. C.S. Lewis did a masterful job of portraying this in “The Screwtape Letters.”
Obama admits it turned him gay.
I was asked the other day if I “believed” in evolution. My response was 1) Evolution is theory about which there are still many unanswered questions. 2) My “belief” in something implies faith, I put my faith in God not in man or theories.
It also makes monkeys out of them.
Wow.
Good quote.
More than enough proof as to why Evolution should not be taught.
I have no problem with evolution, we do not know the methodology God used to create the world. We do know He exists out of time, since time and/or entropy is His invention. Science has taught us that time is not quite the constant thing it appears to us to be in fact.
One thing I do know, you get too smarty-pants and try to limit acceptable methodologies by the Almighty and you will be in for a learning experience.
When Abraham and his wife agreed that conception would be impossible for them because Sarah was old, God proved them wrong. Sure, it “broke the rules”, but they were His rules and He knows them better than we do. The healings and miracles in the New Testament, likewise, oh ye of little faith.
This is not a matter of expressing your “faith” by imposing your conception of what is written in the Bible on reality, this is a matter of letting God do the leading and teaching, and trusting Him.
Atheism is illogical. It’s the affirmative declaration that there is no God, which, of course, is a faith statement. They can’t be everywhere and everywhen simultaneously to confirm their faith.
Psa 14:1 To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.
Pro 9:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.
” the idea that Jesus was mistaken about creation”
I was unaware Jesus had anything to say about creation at all.
Evolution clearly exists and is a design feature put in place by the designer. Denying that it does exist and that science is some how bad for Christians is idiotic. If anything, the more I learn from science, the more impressed I am with God's work and my faith is confirmed.
If the author's faith is endangered by scientific knowledge, his faith isn't too strong and his intellect even shallower.
That statement, “Evolution makes atheists out of people!” is probably one of the most ignorant statements I’ve ever seen.
Do I believe in God? Yes, very much so.
Do I accept evolution? Yes, until proven otherwise and the Bible written and rewritten by men is not proof.
Do I believe that evolution IS God’s plan? Yes, now try to tell me that God is not great enough to be the force behind creation that is this complex.
To decree that anyone who accepts evolution is an atheist is a very great conceit.
Do I accept evolution?
The evolution you talk about simply is not the evolution that is taught. You suppose God-directed change, but what is defined as evolution by the academics is an undirected change based on naturalistic changes, with no need for God.
Furthermore, they will tell you that abiogenesis (life from non-life) is not part of the theory of evolution, but that it must have happened, because we are here. In fact, they will go to the notion that life was seeded here from another planet, but that is just an infinite regression waiting to happen.
See post #16.
Atheism is unwise, but logically it is neutral, as is faith in God, because God gave us a choice. If you believe in Him, it is a matter of choice, freely made, no coercion.
Exactly. It can be used to refer to micro evolution (variation within a species) or macroevolution (changing from one species into a whole different species. Microevolution is an accepted fact. It is macroevolution which has little or no evidence to support it. However, many people use the term evolution to refer to both of these, and often use examples of microevolution as “proof” for macroevolution.
The advantage God gives people of faith is a significant one, it encourages being teachable and humble. The people who become so invested in individual theories as articles of faith are at a disadvantage and are bound for crisis for putting their faith in false idols, to put it bluntly. The more you learn and explore, the more you will have need to avoid attaching yourself too firmly to non-permanent things.
It should come as no surprise that non-believers are going to be hobbled by their sin nature.
