Catholics don’t need the Protestant “born again” nonsense. We have the “Holy Eucharist.” No more is needed.
The former is Biblical. The latter is man made ritual. Careful what you ask for.
Well, Jesus was the first one to use the term so I guess you are then in the unfortunate position of calling the teachings of Jesus *nonsense*.
Not a place I'd want to be in.....
John 3:3-
3 Jesus replied, Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again."
yea ..that and good works and keeping the commandments as well as one can and keeping the church laws and doing good works gives Rominists a shot at a little clean up time in the fires of purgatory to earn them the right to be saved.. some grace and mercy in that ...LOL
But according to the Bible Jesus himself did not require baptism or the Lord's table as either a necessary or sufficient condition for salvation:
Luke 23:39-43 English Standard Version (ESV)One of the criminals who were hanged railed at him, saying, Are you not the Christ? Save yourself and us! But the other rebuked him, saying, Do you not fear God, since you are under the same sentence of condemnation? And we indeed justly, for we are receiving the due reward of our deeds; but this man has done nothing wrong. And he said, Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom. And he said to him, Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise.
Throughout the NT, their are many examples of Jesus lauding those of faith (the centurion, the diseased woman touching the hem of his garment, the thankful leper, etc.).
Paul waxes constantly about the role in salvation played by faith. But our ultimate fate is up to sovereign God alone. We of our own are powerless to do anything to save ourselves. It is only through God calling us that we can come to him:
Romans 8:28-30 English Standard Version (ESV)Rather than hurl Bible bombs at one another, let us all be truly, humbly thankful that sovereign God sent his only begotten Son as propitiation for our sins, and that he chose us all, we who love Him, for His own.And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. And those whom he predestined he also called, and those whom he called he also justified, and those whom he justified he also glorified.

Jesus ended that teaching with John 6:63 “it is the spirit that quickeneth, the flesh profiteth nothing: the words I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.
When serving the bread and wine to his disciples, he said, “Verily I say unto you, I will drink no more of the fruit of the vine, until I drink it new in the kingdom of God.” Mark 14:25
Are you planning on drinking his blood in heaven?
Paul taught the Corinthians, who were already born again (1Cor. 1:2) that the Lord’s supper was to be done in remembrance of the Lord. Not for remission of sins. That was done by baptism in the name of Jesus (Acts 2:38).
In Acts 2 there is mention of breaking of bread, by those that were ALREADY born again. In all of the accounts of conversion in Acts, there is not ONE case of them being taught what you RCs teach.
But, that’s the thing about ‘the make it up as you go’ teachings that you folks call ‘tradition’.
Your ‘eucharist’ ceremonies and other curious arts, remind me of the old movies where the white men show up in Africa, and give attractive, but worthless trinkets, to the natives, in order to be led to their ‘worthless’ glass and/or golden rocks.
I know a woman that joined the RC church simply because of the ornate pagentry, and elegant rituals.
The lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life.
No more is needed, right?
