This is from 1988. And he did recover.

And the reason you posted a 17 year-old article is?
For clarification, I always believed Swaggert was a charlatan.
To: Gamecock
$800,000?
Does the author expect anyone to be impressed by that?
Is Swaggert still alive?

In an interview I saw years ago, Swaggart claimed that his house is merely a two-bedroom home but that it looks much larger because of the high, sharply-angled roof.

True.
I’m sure he has been a major influence on virtually every “Christian” religious huckster practicing today.

I was in Baton Rouge a few months ago and somebody from the Chamber of Commerce, upon my request, took me out to see evangelist Jimmy Swaggart's place, which is a four-iron from the plush new Country Club of Louisiana. You can't actually set foot on Jimmy's spread, of course. There are guards to keep you out, not to mention a wall around the estate that locals report cost $800,000 to build. I've seen bigger spreads than Swaggart's. I was at Peter the Great's palace outside Leningrad once. But Swaggart hasn't done badly to come in second to a czar.![](http://stream1.gifsoup.com/view2/4016849/jimmy-swaggart-crying-o.gif)

Swaggart...an O$teen who could sing.
That new Christian music is of the devil, same drum beats are used to summon demons in Africa...now here's a song from my new southern gospel album which we'll send to you for a love gift of just $19.95...

But what about the hats? The hats have to convey that solemn religious look you want in a faith.

Matthew 15
7 Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying,
8 This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.
9 But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.
They teach you to give to them, not the people who needs it as Jesus said to do.
