Newsweek is back and this time it is fully a leftist rag. Its latest is Christian troll bait written by non-religious scholar Kurt Eichenwald of Vanity Fair who, if youve ever paid attention to him, holds Christianity in disdain to begin with.
So of course a guy who hates Christianity is going to attack it. His attacks, for knowledgeable Christians, are silly fabrications and half-truths. But then Eichenwald is not really writing for Christians, but against them. Hes writing to the secularists trying to buttress their faith in their gods.
Al Mohler has a well written rebuttal as does Michael Kruger.
But, again, Eichenwald does not care nor do those who will read Eichenwald and take him as being truthful. They are writing to others already deeply hostile to Christianity to provide them their arguments for the dinner table and in their encounters with Christian friends. Theyre providing the seeds to sow against the one true Faith.
So pastors, Im just a seminary student. But I know for certain you need to up your game. Your congregation needs the facts. Your congregation needs to know the details of scripture. Your congregation actually needs to know how the Bible was derived. Your congregation needs to know why the accounts of Christs birth seem to differ, as does some of the time line of his death.
Your congregation needs to know these things because they are more likely than you going to be confronted with the parroters of Eichenwald.
Again, Kurt Eichenwald does not care about the truthfulness of what he is writing. He does not care for your side. He is not in this to be fair, but to disrupt, to harm, and to undermine. All that comes via readers of Newsweek who will more readily encounter the sheep and not the shepherds.
So you best start preparing them.

At last sale, Newsweek went for $1, (no, not one COPY of the magazine, the WHOLE magazine after leftie Jon Meecham ran it into the ground.)
I guess they are trying to get the value of the magazine BELOW ZERO.
I agree that Christians need to be better equipped to defend the Faith. My Jewish friend’s question to me, years ago, started my research into the Christian faith. She said, “What, do Christians check their brains in at the door of the church?” She knew all the pagan doctrines and traditions of Christianity and I knew none at that time. After years of research and study I now can defend the Biblical principles of the Faith and expose the man made Roman religion with it’s Greek messiah which is taught as Biblical truths.
Always thought whole thing was only useful for burning — such pretty colors....
Newsweek of Course!
Then Christians have to deal with churches that elect or appoint Reverends to minister and/or lead their communities. Without strong foundations these types often spout liberation theology, atheism or universalism.
And then we have the Gay Church to contend with -- I'm asking myself how that works? And, I don't really want an answer to that:)
Of course God has problems here on Earth with Christians because they reject those who only worship him, and deny the Son.
Complicated, but none of what I've written about seems to factor into News-Weak.
Dr. Oakley’s two cents - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s7yxEjhiiM4
It has been my observation that defending their faith is so watered down - everyone saved is going to heaven, have eternal life, etc. But the common sense part is that Christians do not hold their membership to any standards. If everyone who goes into a church believes they are going to heaven, the problem is quite evident their is no standard of conduct or actual requirement to worship God - the Jesus Industry supplants the father's commandments - is it any wonder today that worshipers are no better than the rabble of the Left and oftentimes the rabble of the left and the face of racism call themselves Christians - Quite a quandary.
If all those people are going to heaven, it is going to just like the hellhole they are making it here on Earth - is there a different option besides Hell - or are all those who are not faithful but so plentiful at Church headed deep south insteal High North?
“Newsweak” has readers?
When the trumpets begin to sound Mr. Eichenwald and his ilk will find out how wrong they were. Many of us, however, will not be around to see it.
I thought Jesus spoke only Aramaic. Did He speak Greek, too?
Had an anti-Christian relative using words to the effect of “the Jews were so smart that they wrote dietary rules in the Bible that kept them healthy”.
(IE, the Bible is a work of Man, not God)
My comment was - yeah, and they invented time travel as well, as evidenced by the exact fulfillment of prophecies some 800 years apart.
I’m not clear what this article is supposed to be about. He doesn’t like Kurt Eichenwald? Though it claims to be a rebuttal, there’s no substance, either about the original article or why it’s wrong. Instead, he just complains about what he assumes are the other guy’s motives. Christians ought to be able to do better.
