Why, you, you Mary hater you. 😄 Actually, there is no doubt that Mary was honored and blessed among women, and is to be admired, a chosen vessel, to be used by the Lord. I am sure all her many children, from her husband Joseph, admired her too. Among them, James, who I think was the leader of the Jerusalem Church, not Peter, and wrote the book of James, and Jude, who wrote the book of Jude. Stop telling the truth. 😊
BTW, are we supposed to get together on Christmas?

I'm sure He needed a little nudging right? Being so timid and all. /sThe truth is, there is something Mary said, that I have always taken to heart, and I always try to obey her request, and that is, she told the servants to do what Jesus said to do. I agree with Mary. We should all do what Jesus says to do. I hope you obey her request too. 😄

“I expect to find theological errors in an article like this ... but I didn’t expect to find blatant falsehoods. “
If you look at the threads posted by these posters on FR, it is a common occurrence. Sometimes it has such a poor use of Scripture - as in this post - that the Little Drummer Boy story would sound just as real, if you applied the same approach. 80% of what is reported in the article is false.

Stretching that into what the Catholics have created is the problem.

Just when you think you heard it all........
Some Catholic comes along and proves you didn’t.
God sure is lucky to have Mary watching out for Him, making sure things keep running smoothly, isn’t He?

You know, if you follow this path, you will conclude that you should be drinking the best wine first... not that there is anything wrong with that. You are correct sir. Very good analogy. You win a cookie. Pick it up on your way out. 😊
There is something CynicalB said, about making things up. I remember meeting John Bisagno in 1972, at that time pastor of 1st Baptist Church, of downtown Houston. He said, the less light there is in a "religion," the more lights it has to have. Interesting point I thought. We used to go to church in the morning, then go watch the Houston Oilers play football in the afternoon. Watching the Oilers play, was truly an exercise in futility.

Mary bore her role as carrying mother of the Son of God with great aplomb. How do you think the “stereotypical Jewish mother” would have reacted to being gifted with such a Son? Oy vey, the pride!!! (We know how mothers of disciples later tried to get advantages for their sons.)
Of course she was full of grace. It was necessary so she didn’t take the ego trip of all ego trips.

Oy vey, the pride!!! (We know how mothers of disciples later tried to get advantages for their sons.)Yes, I remember the mother who asked Jesus if her sons could sit on His right and left. I just wonder when Mary became a born again believer? Was it before Jesus was born? I am not sure. I know the brothers of Jesus, the children of Mary and Joseph, did not believe in Him at first, but did later.

Sometimes stories of faith don’t play out catastrophically in this world, making it hard to pin down a “born again moment.” And again, sometimes they do. Mary may have been familiar with the Jewish messianic hope but her mind needed expanding before she could grasp that yes, her Jesus was it. For many, God is fine in the temple, but when He barges into your life that is different!

For many, God is fine in the temple, but when He barges into your life that is different!Yes, I see your point. I was perfectly willing to keep God at arms length, but when He barged in on me, there was a CHANGE in my life. I did things that I had no desire to do before. I struggle against sin like most folks do, but I try to keep moving forward in faith.

Thank you! This is a lovely post and a great comfort. I thank God every day for Mary: the Blessing that is His, and, by His Grace, OUR, dearest Mother!
God bless you, and have a wonderful Christmas!

Sorry, Elsie, this isn’t about Mary. This about Jesus’s first Miracle!
It is in your Bible, isn’t it?

The author is a theologian. Are you saying he is wrong?
I don’t think he is wrong.

I don't think he is wrong. The Venerable Bishop Sheen, said that Jesus called her woman because He wanted her to recognize that once He performed His first miracle, she would become the mother of all not just to Him.
On a funny side, he said of course they needed more wine, because Jesus had brought all his disciples with him. :)
