The Umayyad Mosque, also known as the Great Mosque of Damascus: A legend dating to the 6th century holds that the building contains the head of John the Baptist. The mosque is also believed by Muslims to be the place where Jesus (Issa) will return.

Imams sit around that head of St. John the Baptist and pray 24/7, changing shifts. They have been doing that for a long time, our guide told us. Who knows how long, but John the Baptist is VENERATED (NOT adored) by Muslims.
