BTW, I wanted to ask you, when Jesus said, upon this rock I will build my church, I am 100% sure he did not mean Peter, but was He referring to that statement of faith that Peter made, or was He referring to Himself? That is what I think He meant, on Himself, but give me your opinion please. He meant Peter and, in fact, called him by name.

You are Petros and upon this petra I will build my church.
He did not say. talking to Peter, “Upon YOU will I build my church”.
Nor did He say, talking to the other disciples, “Upon HIM will I build my church”.
Additionally, when James and John were arguing about who would be the greatest of them all, there would have been the PERFECT opportunity for Jesus to say, *Too bad, guys. Peter’s got the job*, and yet He didn’t.
Not one word from Jesus to the other disciples to that effect.

He meant Peter and, in fact, called him by name. He used different words, as metmom points out. Again, we disagree, and we will always disagree. So be it. I am happy as a lark with my standing with the Lord. I no longer have the incredible spiritual blindness I did before my conversion. I am content with it. I attend Calvary Chapel. I am content with that too.
