The reason for this article is to determine if the worship/veneration given to Mary by the catholic church is justified from a Biblical perspective. This will be evaluated using the Biblical standard and not mans standard.
could you post the scripture passage that states that Mary is dead?
Did you hear this much Scripture read last Sunday in Church or do you stay at home on the Lords Day and ‘Church yourself”?
This is the Liturgy of any typical Catholic Mass the scriptural quotes follow each line.
The words spoken by the priests and the people during the Catholic Mass and other Christian liturgies are not only based on the Bible; many of them are direct quotations from particular biblical texts

Liturgy of the Word:
these were the scriptural reading this past Sunday in every Catholic Church in the world:
December 14, 2014
Third Sunday of Advent
Reading 1 is 61:1-2a, 10-11
The spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me,
because the LORD has anointed me;
he has sent me to bring glad tidings to the poor,
to heal the brokenhearted,
to proclaim liberty to the captives
and release to the prisoners,
to announce a year of favor from the LORD
and a day of vindication by our God.
I rejoice heartily in the LORD,
in my God is the joy of my soul;
for he has clothed me with a robe of salvation
and wrapped me in a mantle of justice,
like a bridegroom adorned with a diadem,
like a bride bedecked with her jewels.
As the earth brings forth its plants,
and a garden makes its growth spring up,
so will the Lord GOD make justice and praise
spring up before all the nations.
Responsorial Psalm lk 1:46-48, 49-50, 53-54
R/ (Is 61:10b) My soul rejoices in my God.
My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord;
my spirit rejoices in God my Savior,
for he has looked upon his lowly servant.
From this day all generations will call me blessed:
R/ My soul rejoices in my God.
the Almighty has done great things for me,
and holy is his Name.
He has mercy on those who fear him
in every generation.
R/ My soul rejoices in my God.
He has filled the hungry with good things,
and the rich he has sent away empty.
He has come to the help of his servant Israel
for he has remembered his promise of mercy,
R/ My soul rejoices in my God.
Reading 2 1 thes 5:16-24
Brothers and sisters:
Rejoice always. Pray without ceasing.
In all circumstances give thanks,
for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus.
Do not quench the Spirit.
Do not despise prophetic utterances.
Test everything; retain what is good.
Refrain from every kind of evil.
May the God of peace make you perfectly holy
and may you entirely, spirit, soul, and body,
be preserved blameless for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
The one who calls you is faithful,
and he will also accomplish it.
Alleluia Is 61:1 (cited in Lk 4:18)
R. Alleluia, alleluia.
The Spirit of the Lord is upon me,
because he has anointed me
to bring glad tidings to the poor.
R. Alleluia, alleluia.
Gospel jn 1:6-8, 19-28
A man named John was sent from God.
He came for testimony, to testify to the light,
so that all might believe through him.
He was not the light,
but came to testify to the light.
And this is the testimony of John.
When the Jews from Jerusalem sent priests
and Levites to him
to ask him, Who are you?
He admitted and did not deny it,
but admitted, I am not the Christ.
So they asked him,
What are you then? Are you Elijah?
And he said, I am not.
Are you the Prophet?
He answered, No.
So they said to him,
Who are you, so we can give an answer to those who sent us?
What do you have to say for yourself?
He said:
I am the voice of one crying out in the desert,
make straight the way of the Lord,
as Isaiah the prophet said.
Some Pharisees were also sent.
They asked him,
Why then do you baptize
if you are not the Christ or Elijah or the Prophet?
John answered them,
I baptize with water;
but there is one among you whom you do not recognize,
the one who is coming after me,
whose sandal strap I am not worthy to untie.
This happened in Bethany across the Jordan,
where John was baptizing.

Last Sunday did you see that much Scripture in your protestant Church??
For the Greater Glory of God
those aren’t Catholics they protestants who left the Church and as a group the single most poorly cathechized group on the planet.
but they are all your now.
AMDG
pretty thin skinned about a little sarcasm are we?
it was eagleone mentioned who mentioned that prots were anathema by the Church during the CofT which was news to me.
His response when I requested the reference:
“Have you read the Council of Trent?? You can do your own homework. Just stay out of those bars!
“I’m starting to think that is the case with a lot of what catholicism teaches....it’s so much that catholics haven’t had a chance, or maybe the inclination, to read it all. “
My response was:
“If you wish I could get you a formal looking Church document done on legal vellum, formally declaring you to be ANATHEMA to the Roman Catholic Church.
“Done in both English and Latin and formally bound it is the perfect addition for this holiday season and would be the absolute envy of all our anti-Catholic friends here on the forum.
It was sarcasm but I would be happy to work out a two for you deal with both yours and eaglones name on the ANATHEMA document.
you can both lump it.
listen I have asked you several times not to post to me too yet you persist.
Exactly what kind of person continues to post to someone who doesn’t what him to post to them?
When you gonna stop?
I think that is what Catholicism is built on. Oh,,,and "it don't say it didn't happen".
Your comments evince anger, not the love and generosity of the Holy Spirit.
Are you filled with the Holy Spirit? Are you born again?
Doesn't bother me because it isn't my problem, it's yours.
Just answer the question. Have you been born of Spirit or not?
A simple yes or no will do.
No one is making you read anything on here. You do know how to ignore posts, don’t you?
Not really; you've merely assumed that I've deferred to your wishes.
You must be one of those logic-impaired folks I've read about.
Some on FR have complained that since I did NOT vote for Mitt; I Wanted Obama in office.
hi mama
so you saw the scripture that we hear at Mass this past Sunday.
first, is there good scripture and bad scripture?
and is it bad scripture because it came from our Catholic mouths?
here is today’s Morning Prayers (Lauds) that are part of the Liturgy of the Hours:
Morning Prayer (Lauds)
If this is the first Hour that you are reciting today, you should precede it with the Invitatory Psalm.
INTRODUCTION
O God, come to our aid.
O Lord, make haste to help us.
Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit,
as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be,
world without end.
Amen. Alleluia.
Hymn
Hark! a herald voice is calling
Through the shadows of the night
Cast away the dreams of darkness
Christ descends with heavenly light.
Wakened by the solemn warning,
Let the earthbound soul arise;
Christ, her sun, all sloth dispelling,
Shines upon the morning skies.
Lo, the Lamb, so long expected,
Comes with pardon down from heavn;
Let us haste, with tears of sorrow,
One and all to be forgivn;
So, when next he comes with glory,
And his judgement-day draws near,
Faithful he may find his servants,
Watching till their Lord appear.
Honour, glory, might, and blessing
To the Father and the Son,
With the everlasting Spirit,
While eternal ages run.
Psalm 83 (84)
Longing for the Lord’s temple
They are happy who dwell in your house, Lord.
How delightful is your dwelling-place, Lord of hosts!
My soul is weak with longing for the courts of your palace.
My heart and my body rejoice in the living God.
Even the sparrow finds itself a home,
the swallow a nest to raise her young
in your altars, O Lord,
Lord of strength, my king and my God.
Blessed are they who dwell in your house:
they will praise you for ever.
Blessed the man whose help comes from you,
who has set his heart on climbing to you.
They pass through the valley of thirst
and make a spring there:
the morning rain will cover it with blessings.
They will go from strength to strength:
they will see the God of gods, in Zion.
Lord God of hosts, listen to my prayer;
hear me, O God of Jacob.
Take notice of us, God our protector,
and look on the face of your anointed one.
One day in the courts of my God
is worth more than a thousand elsewhere.
I would rather be at the doorstep of the house of my God
than live in the dwellings of sinners.
For the Lord my God is my sun and my shield.
The Lord gives grace and glory.
He will not deny his good things
to those who walk in purity.
Blessed is he who trusts in you,
O Lord of hosts.
Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit,
as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be,
world without end.
Amen.
They are happy who dwell in your house, Lord.
Canticle Isaiah 2
The mountain of the house of the Lord
Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord.
In the last days, at the end of time,
the mountain of the house of the Lord
will be prepared high above all mountains.
It will be raised above the hills
and all nations will come to it.
And many peoples will come there and say
Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord,
to the house of the God of Jacob.
Let him teach us his ways,
so that we may walk in his paths.
For from Zion the law will go forth,
from Jerusalem the word of the Lord.
And he will judge the nations
and rebuke many peoples.
They will beat their swords into ploughshares
and their spears into sickles.
Nation will lift sword against nation no longer.
No longer will they go out into battle.
People of Jacob, come:
let us walk in the light of the Lord.
Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit,
as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be,
world without end.
Amen.
Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord.
Psalm 95 (96)
The Lord, the universal King and judge
O sing to the Lord, bless his name.
Sing a new song to the Lord,
sing to the Lord, all the earth.
Sing to the Lord, bless his name;
day after day, proclaim his saving power.
Proclaim his glory to the nations,
proclaim to all peoples the wonders he has done.
For the Lord is great; great is the praise we owe him,
he is to be feared above all gods.
The gods of the nations are foolishness,
but the Lord made the heavens.
Majesty and splendour are all about him,
power and honour in his holy place.
Bring to the Lord, clans of the peoples,
bring to the Lord glory and power,
bring to the Lord the glory that belongs to his name.
Bring your offerings, enter his courts,
worship the Lord in holy attire.
Tremble at his presence, all the earth.
Say to the nations: The Lord reigns!
For he has set the world firm, so that it cannot be shaken,
and he will judge the peoples with fairness.
Let the heavens rejoice, let the earth be glad,
let the sea and its fullness resound.
The fields will rejoice, and all that is in them,
all the trees of the woods will rejoice
at the Lords presence for he comes,
for he comes to judge the earth.
He will judge all the world with justice.
He will judge all the peoples with fairness.
Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit,
as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be,
world without end.
Amen.
O sing to the Lord, bless his name.
Short Reading Isaiah 2:3 ©
Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the Temple of the God of Jacob that he may teach us his ways so that we may walk in his paths; since the Law will go out from Zion, and the oracle of the Lord from Jerusalem.
Short Responsory
The glory of the Lord will shine on you, Jerusalem. Like the sun he will rise over you.
The glory of the Lord will shine on you, Jerusalem. Like the sun he will rise over you.
His glory will appear in your midst.
The glory of the Lord will shine on you, Jerusalem. Like the sun he will rise over you.
Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.
The glory of the Lord will shine on you, Jerusalem. Like the sun he will rise over you.
Canticle Benedictus
The Messiah and his forerunner
The Lord, the ruler of the universe, will come from heaven in great majesty.
Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel,
for he has come to his people and brought about their redemption.
He has raised up the sign of salvation
in the house of his servant David,
as he promised through the mouth of the holy ones,
his prophets through the ages:
to rescue us from our enemies
and all who hate us,
to take pity on our fathers,
to remember his holy covenant
and the oath he swore to Abraham our father,
that he would give himself to us,
that we could serve him without fear
freed from the hands of our enemies
in uprightness and holiness before him,
for all of our days.
And you, child, will be called the prophet of the Most High:
for you will go before the face of the Lord to prepare his path,
to let his people know their salvation,
so that their sins may be forgiven.
Through the bottomless mercy of our God,
one born on high will visit us
to give light to those who walk in darkness,
who live in the shadow of death;
to lead our feet in the path of peace.
Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit,
as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be,
world without end.
Amen.
The Lord, the ruler of the universe, will come from heaven in great majesty.
Prayers and intercessions
As we take up again our daily work, we turn to Christ and ask for his blessing.
Come, Lord Jesus!
Christ, you are the Daystar, powerfully dispelling our darkness:
awaken our faith from sleep.
Come, Lord Jesus!
Reveal your presence in the world
through the lives of Christian men and women.
Come, Lord Jesus!
Come to create a new world,
where justice and peace may find a home.
Come, Lord Jesus!
End the long night of our pride,
and make us humble of heart.
Come, Lord Jesus!
Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come.
Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us,
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
In your love, Father, listen to our prayer:
may your Son at his coming
dispel by his grace the darkness of our hearts.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.
Amen.
The Lord bless us, and keep us from all evil, and bring us to everlasting life.
AMEN

She’s nuts. She complied with my request for a while, so I’m wondering if she’s off her meds.
>>Hebrews 9:27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:
And don't bring up Elijah or Elisha because they to will one day die and lay in the streets for three days.
Could you quote the Scriptural reference that states that Mary is alive?
There is plenty more evidence to support her death! There is plenty of Scripture to support the idea/theory that she was a sinner, since she is fully human. There is absolutely nothing in Scripture to support the Mariology of the Roman cult, except to twist and deny the truth found therein!
please quote the scriptural passage that states Mary is dead, please.
You are wrong again.
Poor man...
Have you run out of your MEMORY pills again??
To: ealgeone
Yep...put it in Latin so the masses couldnt read it for themselves. that is so pathetic cant you be more creative? In the period immediately following the translation of the bible into the Latin Vulgate much less than 10% of the population was literate. If they were literate there were no bibles in print. EACH BIBLE WAS HAND COPIED BY CATHOLIC MONKS AND DISTRIBUTED TO CATHOLICS CHURCHES WHERE IT WAS READ EACH SUNDAY AT MASS every body finally got there chance when the good protestants convinced the good Gutenburg to print his bible, And prior to Gutenburg there were at least ten versions of the Vulgate in print in limited in Germany. The only way your bible made it through the Dark Ages was that Catholics copied and preserved it. You are entitled to your own opinions - not your own facts.
