Is Prayer/Veneration/Worship to Mary Biblical?
self | 12-14-14 | ealgeone

The reason for this article is to determine if the worship/veneration given to Mary by the catholic church is justified from a Biblical perspective. This will be evaluated using the Biblical standard and not man’s standard.

I appreciate your answers to questions not asked and the tangents they let you speak to.

I accept that is the best I can hope for or expect and, just like with me and everyone else, you can't do what you can't do.

Be well, metmom.

If the Word which was inspired by the Holy Spirit is insufficient when we have so many examples in the Bible of people appealing to the Word, we have Jesus appealing to the Word in His dealings with Satan, then you're going to appeal to man-made "rules" and expect people to believe they are superior to the Holy Inspired Word???

Yes. And to try to give it extra clout, they label it *Sacred Tradition* and then anathema anyone who disagrees with them.

Actually you did ask if there were consequences.

Right here in this question.....Are there consequences?

So I did answer a question asked and gave the reason for the answer as opposed to just stating it and expecting you to accept it on my say so.

“No, because in that passage and the next Paul said body and blood is there to be discerned. “

I suggest you read that passage word for word. Then read the broader context.

Far too many people hear only what they want to hear instead of what the word truly says. We've seen a few FRoman Catholics misusing and adding words to the Scriptures so that their doctrines are protected at all costs. It's no wonder the Bible was hidden from the common man for so long. Paul did indeed say something different than what was mistated:

    So then, whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of sinning against the body and blood of the Lord. Everyone ought to examine themselves before they eat of the bread and drink from the cup. For those who eat and drink without discerning the body of Christ eat and drink judgment on themselves. That is why many among you are weak and sick, and a number of you have fallen asleep. But if we were more discerning with regard to ourselves, we would not come under such judgment. Nevertheless, when we are judged in this way by the Lord, we are being disciplined so that we will not be finally condemned with the world.

    So then, my brothers and sisters, when you gather to eat, you should all eat together. Anyone who is hungry should eat something at home, so that when you meet together it may not result in judgment. (I Corinthians 11:27-34)

It's pretty obvious that Paul is talking about the Body of Christ, the church, the Bride.

The two foundational counterscriptural errors of Protestantism are the “Sola Scriptura” and “Sola Fide”. Neither is in the scripture and the scripture teaches the opposite, plainly. Form Matthew 16 we learn that the Church is the complete rule of faith; from James 2 we learn that men are not saved by faith alone.

You are wrong on BOTH counts! We have the writings of many of the early church fathers that attest to the sufficiency of God's sacred and inspired word and their intrinsic authority as well as the doctrine of justification by faith alone. These two "solas" are HARDLY Reformation-invented doctrines. Here are but a few of the MANY places one can read them for themselves:

Don't let it get you down! Faith is a lifelong journey: seek with all your heart, and you'll find the path God wishes you to follow!

The journey you speak of has many twists and turns and sometimes the events, sights and sounds along the way are depressing and painful, even beyond painful.

It used to really get to me, but I've been through enough these last few to have a better attitude and understanding about how things are and why, Who is in charge and who is running interference.

The view of the game is better from here than from where I used to sit, which is a helpful change in these interesting times.

No worries. Now I've got trust.

Once you're convinced that you know what's going on and what the Church teaches, and has taught for 20 centuries...

Please forgive my ignorance and if, in my ignorance, I say something you might take as being offensive, but it appears the Church chose a different path back in the early 1960s.

I'm trying to understand how the Church has been altered in our times since "Vatican II", and all in spite of the warnings.

These changes coincide with, or perhaps lay the groundwork for, the rapidly transforming world we are now struggling with.

The acceleration is rather breathtaking, almost nauseating, really, and it all has me trying to find our place in the story we were born into.

My question was what if you're wrong.

Well; for folks who INSIST I answer hypothetical questions; I always try to answer in the spirit they are asked.

1. Mary is Dead.
2. She ain't listening to anyones prayers.
3. Therefore, NOTHING is going to happen to me because I do NOT bow down to your chosen religion's man-created IDOL; Oh King!!

You've quoted and quoted, but sometimes I can't tell if people are using Biblical quotes to show off or like a stick to beat people with or as a thing to hide behind.

No FOURTH possibility?

That the poster might want someone to actually READ the text posted instead of trying to discern MOTIVE for posting it?

Agreeing with Constantine’s cult can be difficult, since it contradicts it self so many times.

You are NOT supposed to notice this!

Please; just look at ONE thing at a time.

That way you'll not get confused.

...Please forgive me and my ignorance if I just watch the War Between the Denominations from the sidelines ...

Sidelines?

I'd say you've been seen in the stables; trying to dope the horses...

if you say: "we have no use for Her Heart", know that in reality you are saying: "we have no use for the Lord's Heart!"
learn, feeble man, that My Sacred Heart and the Immaculate Heart of your Mother are so united that in their perfect unity those Two Divine Hearts become One;
I tell you solemnly: if you acknowledge Her Heart, not only will you be acknowledging My Heart but also the Father's;
have I not said that I am in the Father and the Father is in Me?
if I am in the Father and the Father is in Me, My Heart, too, is in the Father and His Heart is in Mine;
to say that We are not inseparable and One, is to deny My Word;
do not be the slave of your spirit and do not be won by the arguments of the world;

It just seems that way because of the anti-Catholic squatters who church it on the religion forum on a daily basis.

The heart of the matter are religious movements whose perceived legitimacy depends on a rejection of all things Catholic.

The heart of the matter are religious movements whose perceived legitimacy depends on an acceptance of all things Catholicism added.
