The reason for this article is to determine if the worship/veneration given to Mary by the catholic church is justified from a Biblical perspective. This will be evaluated using the Biblical standard and not mans standard.
that is an obscure post and I have no idea what you refer to.... .
“Are you Orthodox or Catholic?”
You don’t know?
“If you are Catholic, you can not make definitions by your own admission.”
Are you confusing what I said about the pope with some idea of your own?
“That 16th century statement is false.”
The origins of Protestantism? Nope. It’s true.
“Protestantism started about 1,000 years ago when the Orthodox decided to follow Scripture and not acquiesce to Catholicism and their “created” popeatry.”
No. Not even the Orthodox believe that as you’ve posted it, and there is no such word as “popeatry”. Government schools really do fail in their supposed mission to teach don’t they?
“And eventually Catholicism accepted the Orthodox as part of their popedom, and now call them Catholics.”
No.
“It was a financial decision on the part of the Catholic mucky mucks.”
Nope. No such decision ever even happened.
Click on my profile page for guidelines to the Religion Forum.
At least two: the RCC and the LDS. There may be more though.
Hmmm, good answer!
Two denomination, LDS and Catholicism.
And then there are the Christians.
Pure and simple, Christians.
Those that take up their Cross and follow Jesus, born again, Jesus in us, us in Jesus.
It's so neat, and simple!
God's plan is perfect.
I’m leaving the thread after this post but I wanted to say something. Take it for whatever, I really don’t care.
This religion forum is the most hateful forum I’ve ever seen online and offline. I’m surprised this is a so called conservative forum, Christian forum. Yes, I’ve read other forums and they are horrendous regarding Christians but I didn’t think this Conservative, Christian forum would be that way. Hell, it’s way worse because these are the people, this is the place, where Christians stick together. Guess not.
We continue to fight with our allies. No wonder why we lose all the time.
Well the poster is stupid so it’s honest. Hmmm but his/her comments were ok? Yeah ok.
The religion forum is personal and pretending it’s not is stupid. imo.
Great. My fellow Christians don’t think I’m Christian. Yay, the enemy is winning.
You are a Mormon?
it's called common sense
This thread might get locked up any minute - the anti-Catholics, I believe, predicted that earlier today.
I think I’m going to leave it. I see how things are going. There’s not much point in staying.
No I’m a Catholic. A practicing Catholic. A conservative Catholic.
I think I will spell it popetry in the future though. Much better than the British spelling.
Oh and the rest of your denials and ignorance of Christian history?
You are wrong.
Well there’s no point in the religion forum on this so called conservative website. It’s anti Catholic and that is a fact.
The Christian part leaves much to be desired, imo.
I’m ok with everything else but the anti catholic bias is horrendous imo and so against Christianity that it makes it hard to defend it.
“You are wrong.”
Nope. Everything I said about Church history was 100% correct.
I’m leaving the thread. I’ll pray for you and the others when I pray at Mass and pray the Rosary. Have a nice night.
Nice.
Being deceived by a fallen angel, as you claim is the case with those who believe that Fatima is genuine?
Or, getting something like Fatima wrong and calling what turns out to be a true divine intervention an act of Satan on a public forum, while warning people away from it and its intended meaning?
I'm not arguing about whether or not Fatima is real, but using it as an example while wondering what sort of hypothetical penalty you think would result for each of those two possibilities.
Which brings me to another rhetorical question in the same vein:
What happens if to you personally, Elsie, considering all you've posted about it, if you have gotten Mary's status wrong and she truly is the Queen of Heaven and is working now to prepare us all for her Son's return?
Catholics hate no one...ever...Catholics see that people are being drawn away from the true Church of Christ and are saddened that some don't even realize that they are nearing the cliff's edge.
All protestants have the basics of Christianity but many of then either deny some of the truths, attempt to change meanings, or are simply ignorant of some Christian teachings because they haven't been educated in them. Catholicism is christianity...it is true, complete, and without error. Christ, who founded it promised to be with her until the end of time and has fulfilled that promise....
we don't hate you, we would welcome you BACK TO THE CATHOLIC CHURCH where you belong.
The plain meaning of that passage is that Christ is in a certain sense like a door to the Father. That we are dealing with a metaphor is clear from context. For example, He uses a sequence of images: He is also a vine, and a shepherd.
When Christ says “This bread is my body” He is not teaching a parable, not explaining the metaphor, and in fact spends half the chapter 6 in John’s gospel to reinforce the literal meaning. So He means the Eucharist literally.
When St. James writes “you are not saved by faith alone” there is no possible allegorical meaning at all. Again, half the chapter is spent on that very subject. It is a doctrinal teaching, not some figure of speech.
Sola Scriptura and Sole Fide are both contrary to scripture.
