The reason for this article is to determine if the worship/veneration given to Mary by the catholic church is justified from a Biblical perspective. This will be evaluated using the Biblical standard and not mans standard.
only when they're misinterpreted or used entirely out of context..
It is so because GOD said it is so. Don’t you think He knows?
That is the only Biblical revelation possible.
“Interpretation” is always something man made, and rarely coincides with God’s word, so if you are following an interpretation perhaps you wish for something else?
.
>> “Since Jesus is God, Mary is mother of God.” <<
.
Vile blasphemy!
.
What does point of view have to do with anything we’re speaking of....either one believes and obeys what God says or not.....God’s Word is very clear and precise that none of His are to bow down, pray to or worship any idol made by men....
Jesus answered,... “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father ‘except through me’. John 14:6
In the context in which that exchange occurred, shouldn't it have been plain enough that it was the doctrines which vladimir998 was touching upon associating with those scriptures which Resett reacted towards calling those things "corruptions of scripture" in how those passages eventually came to be applied--- rather than those passages referenced themselves having been corrupted?
Since that is the sort of low-grade debate tactic being engaged in --- redefining others words by selective editing of them, showing either; failure to understand what Resetttozero was saying, of else deliberate change in order to misrepresent the intended meaning ---- why should anyone listen to what the two of you Roman Catholics have to say?
Why should anyone take either of you seriously?
It is for these types of exchanges -- where a persons says one thing --- but then it is turned into another to then be held up for ridicule --- which can make conversation on the religions forum be beyond tedious -- right into infuriating.
Is that all you guys have got? huh?
Shame on you both.
Progress!
Such progress, why I'm proud of you, now...
Yet being that what you say above is indeed true -- then John Wycliffe was correct enough, Calvin was correct enough, John Jewel and Richard Hooker were correct enough, being that all agree with you in the above, highlighted statement -- which agrees with what Christ Himself said about the subject [which subject was Himself, in relation to the 'lost sheep of the house of Israel', ie -- those persons whom the Father would draw to Himself].
I have never met a Catholics who ever studied the word on their own.
And the one I knew who did study the word, did it in a Bible study led by a priest, so everything is vetted through the priest first.
good grief, there are according to Elsies favorite authority, wikipedia, upwards of 41,000 protestant denominations....do you suppose that they all believe and interpret the Bible the same??????
Not necessarily but that's no different from Catholicism.
People who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.
The EO don't accept or recognize the primacy of the pope, which Roman Catholicism has claimed over the years to be necessary for salvation.
There are a number of areas of dispute which they both consider critical where there's disagreement.
Do all 22 or so rites of Catholicism agree perfectly?
If they do, then why are their 22 or so of them?
If they don't, then which one is right?
For that matter, the Roman Catholic church isn't even internally consistent. They've added the Mary stuff, have changed their teaching on whether anyone outside the Catholic church can be saved or not, changed their attitude towards the laity being able to own Scripture, how long before communion you could eat without it being a mortal sin, dietary restrictions about meat on Fridays, etc, ad nauseum.....
Why do Catholics always presume that different denominations must equate to different doctrines?
How about the fact that some churches have different foci? Like the Salvation Army compared to Wycliff Bible Translators?
How does the focus on helping the poor in the US as opposed to translating Scripture into other languages make one of the other of them wrong?
So, is there salvation outside the Catholic church?
Not only have there been varying opinions on that since the inception of the church, even here on this board are those Catholics who say yes, absolutely, without a doubt, and those who say no, under no circumstances possible.
So there you have each Catholic’s private interpretation of not only Scripture, but also the CCC.
How is that any different from what Catholics accuse *Protestants of?
Who’s right?
They both can’t be.
Which is the Holy Spirit protected teaching?
If Mary is the mother of God, then she’s the mother of the Holy Spirit and the mother of the Father as well, because both of them are God, are they not?
Show me where the term *mother of God* shows up in Scripture.
Can you imagine how many relics of Mary there would be floating around today if someone claimed to have any?
There’d probably be enough to fill the ark that can be made from all the pieces of wood that came from the cross.
Why do you think He would resist OUR prayers?
Because that's the only conclusion one can reach as to why people pray to Mary. That is that they think God won't answer their prayers to HIM if they pray themselves, even after He promised He would.
Praying to Mary thinking that she can bend His ear displays an appalling lack of trust in God, His promises, and His character.
*I guess*????
So who are the just? What makes them just?
When Jesus separates the sheep from the goats, He takes the sheep into heaven and sends the goats into outer darkness. There's NO mention of anywhere in between, no holding pen as it were.
May God bless you, and show you His Healing Love!
I daresay you'll get no argument out of anyone on this forum with that statement.
OK ......Luke 11:27-28 While Jesus was saying these things, one of the women in the crowd raised her voice and said to Him, Blessed is the womb that bore You and the breasts at which You nursed. But He said, On the contrary, blessed are those who hear the word of God and observe it.
Which wasn’t that hard to find and post so that you could have done it as well to support your assertion.
But I can see why you didn’t because it says no such thing as you claimed.
Is the Father God?
Is the Holy Spirit God?
If Mary is the mother of God, then she’s the mother of them as well.
They wouldn’t have anything if they didn’t make strawmen to knock down.
