The reason for this article is to determine if the worship/veneration given to Mary by the catholic church is justified from a Biblical perspective. This will be evaluated using the Biblical standard and not mans standard.
in the year ....say...1192, how many Christians were there in the world that were not Catholic??
Hey, tell that to the Vatican store. Their website says it....not mine.
And that would be wrong. This thread was started to see if catholics were worshippnig Mary and if/so was it Biblical.
And the answer is they do worship Mary and it is not Biblical.
Anything that exposes the light on catholicism is an attack now? Got it!
Luke 1:28 And coming in, he said to her, "Greetings, favored one! The Lord is with you."
The oldest manuscripts don't even have the "blessed art though among women".
>>And the Catholic Church has done a bang up job of deviating from the word of God. From Genesis through Revelation we find that the Catholic Church has changed it every so slightly to build their apostate organization.<<
CB, I can save you some time in the future. Just post:

Everyone will know what you mean and don’t have to waste time replying.
Your clearly have a reading comprehension problem.
They have the admonition of God in Revelation to "come out of her my people lest ye be partakers of her plagues". If they don't heed those words it will not be pretty for them.
-— It was started as a correction of the corrupt practice of veneration of Mary which is clearly not sanctioned in scripture. -—
Mary is Jesus’ mother, and the Queen of the eternal, redeemed Davidic Kingdom. She is the Queen of Heaven. See the Bible.
1)
Historically, upon leaving the palace on a journey, the Davidic king would sometimes bestow an oversized key on the majordomo of the king’s palace. The majordomo would keep the key in a pouch worn around his neck.
The key symbolized the majordomo’s full plenary authority in the king’s absence (the power to “open and shut”).
This historical practice is reflected in Isaiah 22:
I will depose you from your office, and you will be ousted from your position.
In that day I will summon my servant, Eliakim son of Hilkiah.
I will clothe him with your robe and fasten your sash around him and hand your authority over to him. He will be a father to those who live in Jerusalem and to the people of Judah.
I will place on his shoulder the key to the house of David; what he opens no one can shut, and what he shuts no one can open.
2)
Jesus is the King of the new, eternal and redeemed Davidic Kingdom since He holds the “Key of David.”
Rev. 3:7
To the angel of the church in Philadelphia write:
These are the words of him who is holy and true, who holds the key of David. What he opens no one can shut, and what he shuts no one can open.
3)
The “Gebirah,” Queen Mother, or mother of the king in the Davidic kingdom held an exalted position (even above the position of the Queen[s]), sitting at the King’s right hand. This was mainly because the king had many wives.
This can be seen in 1 Kings 2:
When Bathsheba went to King Solomon to speak to him for Adonijah, the king stood up to meet her, bowed down to her and sat down on his throne. He had a throne brought for the kings mother, and she sat down at his right hand.
Other references to her authority:
Jeremiah 13:18
Tell the king and the Queen mother (Gebirah), “Sit in a lower place, since your glorious crown has fallen from your head.”
2 Kings 10:13
“We are kinsmen of Ahaziah,” they replied. “We are going down to visit the princes and the family of the queen mother”
4)
Mary is the Mother of Jesus, the King of the eternal, redeemed, Davidic Kingdom.
5)
Mary is the Queen Mother of the eternal, redeemed, Davidic kingdom, the Kingdom of God.
Rev. 12
A great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet and a crown of twelve stars on her head.
She was pregnant and cried out in pain as she was about to give birth.
Then another sign appeared in heaven: an enormous red dragon with seven heads and ten horns and seven crowns on its heads.
Its tail swept a third of the stars out of the sky and flung them to the earth. The dragon stood in front of the woman who was about to give birth, so that it might devour her child the moment he was born.
She gave birth to a son, a male child, who will rule all the nations with an iron scepter.
6)
Yes, the “woman” of Revelation also represents Israel, since Scripture is polyvalent, but in a secondary sense.
7) As the Queen of Heaven, Mary is due veneration.

yup, you're right...the church should have destroyed, melted down that ancient artifact...no reason to have something like that in the VATICAN MUSEUM.
we could then be compared to the Taliban who destroyed those ancient statutes of Buddah that they declared offensive to islam.....great idea CB!!
after it's sold and YOU OWN IT!
I think I'm beginning to understand protestantism and I may convert. I don't have to atone for my sins, no matter what I do my sins are covered, repentance and penance are pretty much passe', nothing I do will be taken into account, we all die and go directly to Heaven. Man, that's easier than Catholics have it...we are expected to behave, refrain from sin, seek repentance when we fall short, attend Mass, confess our sins,WOW, you guys sure have it easy.........
Christians do ask for forgiveness of sins....we just go straight to Christ.
1 John 1:9 5This is the message we have heard from Him and announce to you, that God is Light, and in Him there is no darkness at all. 6If we say that we have fellowship with Him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth; 7but if we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin. 8If we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us. 9If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar and His word is not in us.
1My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous; 2and He Himself is the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for those of the whole world.
The greek word for propitiation is Παράκλητον, parakleton. It is the same word used to describe the Holy Spirit also. It is a legal term meaning someone who stands close beside, a legal advocate who makes the right judgment call.
In other words, Jesus is our attorney! You're not going to lose a case with Him on your side.
Romans 4 notes your sins are covered as do many other verses in the NT. I would recommend Ephesians as a good starting place to read.
Penance...nope. No works we can do atone for our sins.
Your works will be tested....only the good ones stay...the rest are trashed. Your salvation is secure though.
Your salvation is secure. John 3:16....whosoever believes in Him should not perish but will have eternal life.
Christians attend church on a weekly, if not more frequent basis. We engage in Bible studies in groups and we actually read the Bible on our own. It's not too complicated of a book. The Greek makes it more fun though!
Jesus makes this invitation to all in Matthew 11: 28-30
28Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. 29Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and YOU WILL FIND REST FOR YOUR SOULS. 30For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.
See post #1104 >>Thus there is confusion among the myriad of denominations of Protestants.<<
There is no assurance of correctness for any "church" who doesn't prayerfully seek the guidance of the Holy Spirit but uses their own intellect or wishes. Those who put their trust in those organizations or leaders will fall with them. There is no difference whether it's the Catholic Church or some Protestant denomination.
>>Throughout this time, the Holy Catholic Church continued to preach the Gospel,<<
Not as it's found in the original Greek they didn't. Jerome's Latin Vulgate from the 4th century has multiple proven errors which the Catholic Church includes to this day.
>>As we have witnessed since the 16th century, there has been no end of mud slung against the Catholic Church, and amongst fellow Protestants.<<
Only those in error call it "mud". We are told in scripture to point out error. To not do so would be to disobey the mandate to "correct" is God's word.
Where does the "word" restrict the number of "churches" that would be in error. It does say "narrow is the road". Their are many who have joined the Catholic Church on the wide road.
They started their apostasy way back in the forth century maybe earlier. They have been trying to kill off those who hold to truth ever since.
Who's to know? The Catholic Church was so busy trying to kill them off they went underground. Those we refer to as the "reformers" desperately tried to correct the apostasy of the Catholic Church but were left no option but to "come out of her" as God mandated in Revelation to John.
Nope. That would be Satan's way of trying to hide the truth of scripture from those who read these threads. I'll not succumb to Satan's way.
What about the comment At your request we will bring it to receive the Blessing from the Holy Father posted on that site am I not reading or understanding correctly?
Mary as "queen of heaven" is not in there>
>>This was mainly because the king had many wives.<<
Jesus doesn't have "many wives" so no need for the mother of the King to be declared queen.
>>A great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet and a crown of twelve stars on her head.<<
That would be the nation of Israel.
>>As the Queen of Heaven<<
NO "queen of heaven" in scripture other than in paganism.
>>Mary is due veneration.<<
venerate - To regard with deep respect or reverence.
Latin venerātus, past participle of venerārī to solicit the goodwill of (a god), worship,
Synonyms: revere, worship, deify, glorify, adore, idolize
Nope.
It wasn't my idea. It was God's command. Scoff at Him at your own peril.
Is that how slimy the Catholic Church work..............oh...never mind.
