How about a donation to the Little Sisters of the Poor or Priests for Life ... plenty of Catholic charities in need, ping!
This has got to be the most horribly written article I have ever seen.
I guess it’s good to hold charities accountable, but it is also good to know that your church makes donations to local and world charities. My church has some special fundraising requests for specific functions like sending/supporting missionaries, but also uses $200K or more of “surplus” money for local causes. I’ve been to some churches that won’t donate one penny that hasn’t been earmarked by specific donation requests.
Well you had me going until the article mentioned the Wounded Warrior Project. An organization that sees to it that 97 cents of every dollar does not go to wounded warriors but into it’s promoters pockets. No thanks, I’m not buying what you are selling.
Here is what the Salvation Army position is:

I will continue to put money in the red kettle.
I’m not for abortion, period but there is one scenario where it must be performed. That is an ectopic pregnancy where the gestation is occuring in the fallopian tube or outside of the uterus. The mother’s life is truly in danger from a ruptured bleed out.
Big picture time. Its downright un-American to be against the Salvation Army.
I don’t walk by a red kettle without putting something in it.
//Later, in same section, there are shocking contradictions. The Salvation Army notes that termination can occur when carrying the pregnancy further seriously threatens the life of the mother or diagnostic procedures identify a fetal abnormality causing only a very brief post-natal period. Further, rape and incest also represent special case[s] for the consideration of termination. These exceptions portray a troubling contradiction to the professed sanctity, unique dignity and respect due to the image of God found in our unborn brethren.//
Mormon views are even more pro-abortion (it is ok as long as you pray about it) yet people here defend them as being ‘pro-life’.
The SA is the best place to give cash. Catholic Charities give cash to lefty groups too. Would rather give to the SA and I am a Catholic.
How many lives would be lost if the Salvation Army was to be destroyed by this type of campaign?

How many Catholics in good standing with their church fully support abortion?
the homosexual agenda?
And the pope himself prays in mosques and has favorably compared the Bible to the Koran.
Undoubtedly the only conclusion one can make from these facts is that the Catholic church gives tacit support to planned parenthood, Islam, and the homosexual agenda.
I’m sending you a case of Windex for Christmas. Many glass houses to clean.
This article is based on nothing but speculation and denigrates one of the most charitable CHRISTIAN institutions on Earth. Whereas most Catholic Priests live in good housing and eat the best foods, the Ministry of the Salvation Army is to provide for the needs of the poor and help with disaster recovery. They are usually first on the scene with food, clothing, and a warm hand and a smile. Yet, their salaries and stipends are extremely modest. The money put into those kettles is used for providing services, not for building fancy edifices and gilt idols of worship. There are lies, and damn lies. This one is lower than that!
This display of Roman Catholic bigotry is disgusting!
The Salvation Army does good things in a very bad world, and is known for having the least amount of overhead.
I am offended that someone would put up some Catholic Agenda hit piece on The Salvation Army that insinuates that the loose change you donate to the bell ringers outside the Piggly Wiggly goes towards funding abortions. That is outrageous.
Catholics ought to clean up their own mess of graft and institututionalized protection of homosexual abuse of children first before attacking The Salvation Army.
My father was in WWII and Korea and he hated the Red Cross because they used to charge for a cup of coffee.
He always said the only charity he supported was the Salvation Army.
I wonder how much the Salvation Army's CE makes compared with the United Way extortion scam's CEO. Are Catholics cool with them?
We have become so leery of what goes on behind the scenes with charities....we’re extremely selective when it comes to giving. St. Judes research hospital is worthy of support, IMO.
I’m not buying what this article is selling, though, and I won’t stop giving to the red kettle.
The thread has served one good purpose for me, however. I’ve been cleaning out closets and I have loads of practically new things to donate. I don’t know why I didn’t think of the Salvation Army...I think I’ll call and see if they can use them. Maybe the clothes will actually end up on a needy person’s body instead of sold to make recycled fiber.
This is too bad. They were once a great organization.
During the big floods in 1993, I saw what the Salvation Army does in disasters. While the Red Cross was holding press conferences, the SA was serving hot meals to volunteers (including me), passing out clean up kits for people whose homes were flooded and helping people in every way possible. They never sought any publicity...just did their job helping people. I may not 100% agree with their politics, but I have no problem giving to the SA because I know that money will be well spent in the community.
Papists not concerned one bit by what Protestants do ping!
Salvation Army and Planned Parenthood: Whats the Connection?
Still waiting for their answer.... the article provides nothing.
