“I know of some Jesuits who left the church to follow the gay lifestyle.”
I know plenty of protestants that stayed in their protestant church, some even preaching the gospel, after they “came out” as homosexual.
“In other words, while they attended Protestant churches, they were not Christians”
OK. Knew that one was coming. Try emailing Scott Hahn, Marcus Grodi, Tim Staples, Jimmy Aiken, and the vast majority of other Catholic apologists and tell them they were not Christian. Make sure you let us know what they say in their replies. LOL.
“Aint it strange that no one ever posts a story about someone leaving Catholicism and becoming a baptist?”
I know several people who have. Mostly, because they found the Catholic doctrine to strict or too conservative on one issue or another.
Do you want to interview me for an EWTN special report?
Now to directly address your question. There have been articles here on FR addressing those leaving Rome to Evangelical, Reformed and Baptist. However they are few because with born again Christians it is not a numbers game. Plus roughly 70% of those posting here on FR are former RCs, now worshipping at Protestant and Evangelical assemblies. Just ask some of the people I pinged.
Instead, some have to scour the web looking for Catholic PR articles for "converts."
Which can be said such data mining is reprehensible, but I find it's just sad.
In Acts 2 we are told the Lord added to the Church. Not fellow man.
You are still a baptized Catholic and come back to the Church at any time. Just sit down with a priest and get your questions answered.
I'm here read to me.
Maybe the doctrine was not conservative or strict enough. I can relate to that.
Thanks but they never answered my questions. In Jesuit college the priests were more interested in expanding our understanding of women of power in the Bible, and actually hosted a professor who claimed Jesus and the disciples were gay. Sorry no thanks, can’t be associated with a church encouraging blasphemy.
“Most priest that left the faith for left to get married.”
Yes, and some of the more famous of them had real moral problems when they were priests too. I certainly don’t believe they all became Protestants - especially Protestant ministers - because of genuine religious conviction.
“Sorry no thanks, cant be associated with a church encouraging blasphemy.”
Don’t you think you should be consistent? If you’re going to say the above, then you can’t base your example on “In Jesuit college the priests” or “a professor”. The Jesuits are merely one religious order. The professor doesn’t even matter and will be forgotten soon after his death. They hardly constitute “a church” let alone THE Church.
Who are “they”? Strange answer. Find a priest who attended a Jesuit School and understands them.
you see more protestants because the show is about scoring points against protestantism, not about winning souls for christ. i stopped listening because I found it very disturbing - i could start to understand how the Inquisition happened. there’s something in a lot of catholics that makes them uncomfortable with the idea that anyone would dare be a christian and not belong to the roman church. they’re more intolerant of non-catholic christians than of people who don’t believe in Christ to begin with. that’s the definite vibe i get form “The Journey Home”
“...there is never a testimony trusting and accepting Jesus as their Savior before leaving Protestantism...In other words, while they attended Protestant churches, they were not Christians...”
Patently false. I have heard Protestant coverts to the Catholic faith talk about their first conversion - to a belief in Christ - numerous times. I have heard that from Scott Hahn, Gerry Matatics, Steve Wood, Robert Sungenis (a revert), and numerous others.
Your soul is at risk because of a Jesuit college? There has to be a lot more to this story.
accepting Jesus as their Savior >>
where is this written in the Bible?
You went from any Catholic to theologian. That's fine. Ask yourself this question. Why do Catholic theologians need to leave the Catholic church? The majority of modern Catholic theology is of the liberal JEDP brand; teaches evolution is compatible with the Christian faith and Bible (so says the Pope too); teaches the OT is allegory and not historically accurate. Such a theologian would find it difficult in most Protestant or Evangelical churches. Let's not mention the Jesuit liberation theology taught in universities exposing young minds glorifying Marxist governments. Not to mention the Blasphemy allowed on Catholic campuses allowing guest speakers to expand horizons lecturing that Jesus and his disciples were gay and Mary Magdalene was really the top disciple.
So it's easy being a Catholic theologian. You can believe anything.
Why let evil inside the gates?
This was not an apologetics exercise.
Are you asserting such is an isolated event and the Catholic church can wash their hands of such?
I went to a Jesuit university. Loads of Jesuits there. I even debated a Jesuit priest on the Sandinista government. He was a chaplain for the Sandinistas when they were rebels. Liberation theology in action.
