Pope Francis on Sunday closed an assembly of Catholic bishops that revealed deep divisions on how to reach out to homosexuals and divorced people, saying the Church should not be afraid of change and new challenges.
Francis, who has said he wants a more merciful and less rigid Church, made his comments in a sermon to some 70,000 people in St. Peter's Square for the ceremonial closing of a two-week assembly, known as a synod.
"God is not afraid of new things. That is why he is continuously surprising us, opening our hearts and guiding us in unexpected ways," he said.

“Quite a dilemma for them, isn’t it?”
What dilemma? Whatever the circumstances, whatever this pope personally believes, the fact that God won’t permit a pope to formally teach an error on faith or morals was just proven again for the whole world to witness.
Rather, REFORM done the RIGHT WAY.
It depends on which side of the reform you’re on who considers it right.
I don’t doubt if Catholics were convinced that the reform they were calling for was the correct kind, that the *church* (those being reformed against so to speak) would disagree with that assessment.
How can anything be new to God?

He sits in Peters chair.
I put my trust in the Holy Spirit. He is my Pope.

no dilemma at all, we can and do respect homosexual people and divorced and remarried couples. Can they attend Mass , of course they can and do. They are welcomed. Can they receive the Eucharist faithfully....no...and I don't see that changing ever. As far as the divorced and remarried person, when the original spouse dies, the other partner can recieve the Eucharist.
no it doesn't...and it has been here for 2,014 years
just what the protestants did the last time...choose whatever you want to do and insist that it is right....OK I guess...
It’s not a Catholic vs. Protestant point. Shouldn’t it be about adhering to what Jesus commanded, irregardless of a specific meeting place? In the not too distant future, Christians will have to meet in homes anyway to avoid persecution.
