A half-century after the historic changes of the Second Vatican Council, Pope Francis is showing his intent to drive a comparably ambitious agenda for the Roman Catholic Church in the 21st century.
The current synod of bishops in Rome, called by Francis to encourage reform and modernization, set a ringing tone of compassion this week with an opening call for a more welcoming attitude toward gay people, unmarried couples, divorced Catholics who remarry, and children in these unions.
The bishops report on their first week of private discussions did not immediately change church doctrine. But it signaled the popes determination to have the church look anew at the realities of the modern world, including what the bishops were moved to call the positive aspects of civil unions and cohabitation a formulation unthinkable in an era when the church denounced such Catholics as living in sin.
The synods summary language about gays and lesbians was even more remarkable....

3/4’s of NY Times editorial board are homosexual.
Homosexuals cluster.
NY Times new tag line...
Divide and Conquer
Walks what talk? I thought he said homosexuality was intrinsically disordered.
A truly wretched papacy which is both a chastisement and a purification for the Church.
Well said. Simply a bad Pope. A very bad Pope. Better he was never elected and Benedict never stepped down.
There's 'talking the talk', and there's 'walking the walk'. There's no such thing as 'walking the talk'.
Illiterate Americans don't even understand classic idioms anymore.

Conservative Cardinal Who Clashed With Pope Francis Confirms He Has Been Ousted

OMG! How in the world did that happen, since they’re 1.6% of the population? Obviously, it was intentional. The question is, who’s intention?
listen to me.....I'm not a very obedient Catholic...
He has done it very smoothly managing the moves so that there is not large uproar.
Isn’t he the “last Pope” according to some prophecies and seers?
I have no idea.
I can understand the Church saying they need to be welcoming to homosexuals (albeit, chastising), but “valuing their sexual orientation”? I know that’s not the Pope’s words, but that’s like saying acceptance of their immoral behavior.
Oh tee hee. NYT clueless about the Church. Dogma develops, but never reverses itself nor contradicts itself. Church of Christ don’t ya know.
They cluster.
There were several NY articles written during the 1990s and 2000s of how the homosexuals would find themselves at outfits like the NY Times. As they were in the closet they were adept at keeping undercover and keeping secrets.
As one by one ascended within the organization they eventually took over and hired mostly homosexuals.
People from India do the same thing in medical residency hospitals. And there are other example how certain groups flock together and keep everything to themselves.
I’m not ready to ascribe ill motive to Pope Francis, just short sightedness.
It is no secret that there is huge concern among the Cardinals about the atrophying Church. Wehrl is all about The New Evangilization, constantly. It’s about reaching fallen away Catholics. It’s about meeting them where they are; divorced/remarried, gay, whatever - just get them back in the pews. I think Francis is this way too.
It’s wrong. It makes mercy into a poison. It’s bureaucratic arrogance.
The New Evangilization is same as the Old - just teach the Faith Cardinals!
