Featured Term (selected at random:
SCHISMATIC
According to Church law, a schismatic is a person who, after receiving baptism and while keeping the name of Christian, pertinaciously refuses to submit to the Supreme Pontiff or refuses to associate with those who are subject to him. The two factors, submission to the Pope and association with persons subject to him, are to be taken disjunctively. Either resisting papal authority or refusing to participate in Catholic life and worship induces schism, even without further affiliation with another religious body. Like heresy, schism is formal and culpable only when the obligations are fully realized.

And, for the record, I enjoy reading most of the Religion threads even though I don't always comment on them. Some of them I've even printed out to take to my own women's Bible study group for discussion.
Winston Churchill once famously said about the Irish “it is hard to understand them. for one, they refuse to be British”. So why is it so suprising that Catholics “refuse” to be protestants? or that Catholics might think that protestants are “wrong”?. Your viewpoint sounds disturbingly like the world of political correctness that is running rampant through our society. It is grave error, according to you that somebody posted something that may upset, irritate or disagree with someone elses viewpoint. I disagree with any number of things I see on FR daily. Do I get upset about it? Usually not. they have their beliefs and views, I have mine. I come to FR for the shared viewpoints of less government, more local control and a strong, principled and moral society. We pretty much all agree on that here. How to get from point A to point B, well there are lots of opinions and views. What some here call “the marketplace of ideas”. If you get this upset that somebody disagrees with your views or beliefs, what does that say about the strength of your beliefs? I’ve had protestants and fundamentalists tell me to my face that I’m going to hell. I disagree, but I don’t get mad. What’s the point? I know who and what I am and what I believe. somebody elses words won’t change that. You have your thing, I have mine. Coming to FR might mean you see or hear things you disagree with. Even with that it is still one of the best places out there for conservative news and activism. I leave you with a quote from Ayn Rand: “journalism is the printing of something that somebody else does not want printed. everything else is public relations”

Bump
That 'Church' murdered men, women and children for refusing papal authority...Many pregnant women had their stomachs sliced open and the babies ripped out while the mothers were still alive...Children had their limbs torn off in front of their parents for their parents refusal to bow down to their 'Church'...
I am proud not to be affiliated with that religion...
According to the bible:
Reprobates are those who follow the false religion of Catholicism...
>>According to the bible:<<

Whose “bible” are you reading?
Please post your source for this serious charge.
Excuse me, but this is about calling other people names. No one called you a name so kindly dispense with trying to play the victim. That dog don't hunt.
Your viewpoint sounds disturbingly like the world of political correctness that is running rampant through our society. It is grave error, according to you that somebody posted something that may upset, irritate or disagree with someone elses viewpoint.
You doth complaineth too much.
I disagree with any number of things I see on FR daily.
That's not a license to be disagreeable.
Do I get upset about it? Usually not. they have their beliefs and views, I have mine. I come to FR for the shared viewpoints of less government, more local control and a strong, principled and moral society.
And some people apparently come here to insult their fellow FReepers.
Again, I never really knew much about Catholics or Catholicism until I came to FR. What I do know of it on FR has been posted by Catholics. Not by anyone who has an agenda against you.
And I am left unimpressed.
Have a nice day.

Thank you, and Blessings upon You and your House.
Great point - you are 100 percent something when you assert that the anti-Christian behavior is monopolized by Catholics (though you forgot the “Roman” part to specify rite)
**But over the past five years I’ve repeatedly seen Catholics post things that are insulting and provactive to the non-catholics on this forum, including myself. I’ve also been treated to far too many Catholics being smug, arrogant, insulting, pompous, self-righteous, and, of course, passive aggressive. **
So saying that this is a mere definition doesn’t work for you?
A lot of mind reading here.
And many countries killed Catholics. Read your history, please.
Merriam-Webster has a 'mere defintion' of the word 'schismatic'.
http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/schismatic
And there's nothing the least bit inflammatory about it. The definition you posted, whose summary is viewable without clicking into the thread, is inflammatory and combative of the FReepers on this site who do not share your love of your church and your allegiance to your pope.
Mind you that I do not object to your beliefs, I object to the passive aggressive abuse of others in the name of your beliefs. I do not believe that even indirectly abusing your fellow FReeper is an acceptable thing to do. It distracts from the things we hold in common.
Agreed; was the rationale behind my parenthitical phrase
Now you make sense again
For a statement to be “mind reading” under the Religion Forum guidelines it must be speaking of another Freeper, personally.
If that type of debate is offensive to you then IGNORE "open" RF threads altogether and instead read and post to RF threads labeled "caucus" "ecumenical" "prayer" or "devotional."
If you do not wish to see RF posts at all, do NOT use the "everything" option on the Free Republic browse option list. Instead, browse by "News/Activism." When you log back in, the browse will reset to "everything" - so be sure to set it back to "News/Activism."
Ive repeatedly seen Catholics post things that are insulting and provactive to the non-catholics on this forumNotice it is an observation of a group of people. Happens all the time, in fact this thread itself is provactive and insulting to non Catholics.
From the article:
...a schismatic is a person who, after receiving baptism and while keeping the name of Christian, pertinaciously refuses to submit to the Supreme Pontiff...If Catholics wish to submit to the Supreme Pontiff, fine.
Non Catholic Christians submit to Christ, not a man.
Catholics being smug, arrogant, insulting, pompous, self-righteous, and, of course, passive aggressive here on Free Republic is just an observation, not mindreading. See it all the time.
Oh BTW thanks for turning yourself in to the RM for mindreading!
