Why would intelligent, successful people give up their careers, alienate their friends, and cause havoc in their families...to become Catholic? Indeed, why would anyone become Catholic?
As an evangelist and author who recently threw my own life into some turmoil by deciding to enter the Catholic Church, I've faced this question a lot lately. That is one reason I decided to make this documentary; it's part of my attempt to try to explain to those closest to me why I would do such a crazy thing.
Convinced isn't just about me, though. The film is built around interviews with some of the most articulate and compelling Catholic converts in our culture today, including Scott Hahn, Francis Beckwith, Taylor Marshall, Holly Ordway, Abby Johnson, Jeff Cavins, Devin Rose, Matthew Leonard, Mark Regnerus, Jason Stellman, John Bergsma, Christian Smith, Kevin Vost, David Currie, Richard Cole, and Kenneth Howell. It also contains special appearances by experts in the field of conversion such as Patrick Madrid and Donald Asci.
Ultimately, this is a story about finding truth, beauty, and fulfillment in an unexpected place, and then sacrificing to grab on to it. I think it will entertain and inspire you, and perhaps even give you a fresh perspective on an old faith.

And now we’re down to the 5th grade.
he coulda been a contenda!
The Word is not some-THING but some-BODY. The sooner protestants can get their mind right with this fundamental Truth the better off they'll be.
Jesus is not the Bible. One could be forgiven for thinking protestants worship a book and not Christ.
I like that one. Succinct.
Jesus gave us His Word so we'd have a record of the things we need to know about Him.
The Word is both. It is the written Word of God. It is also the Christ...as in the beginning was the Word....
You did, did you? And so now your entire view of the Catholic faith can be reduced to the look on someone's face on the TV screen.
I suppose you prefer snake-handling, speaking in tongues, yelling and screaming. Whatever to get your heart rate up, because we all know that is when Christ is made present.
Discuss the issues all you want, but do not make it personal.
Actually it wrongwasn't a good fit at all, as the Priest was treeall decked out in his ...royal finery and headpiece...lifting I'mup some book he read from and then various other Sorrynotthings at the table...while these gals were singing pop intoChristian music....it definitely din’t fit the event. rockband or that type of service...you seem butto find it easy to jump ahead of people and you'remake assumptions rather quickly.
But in fact the girlsbarking singing at this mass were singing popular music often heard
...”I came across EWTN”...
That’s the tv version I think...This I saw was an actual catholic church mass. But I do wonder if the ‘Roman’ catholic mass isn’t different...I’ll be checking that out too. Maybe each church determines their own way of doing mass???
Now how can each church do its “own” mass? Would that be, dare it be said, interpreting things your own way??
It was probably a penance class:)
Amen!
I get the impression from some here that they don't think all that much about the sacred Scriptures. It's like they do not esteem it AS the actual word OF God, but brush it off as not all that important or not any more important than their traditions and hierarchy. My guess is that they know their religion won't hold up under scrutiny when compared to what God tells us through the Holy Spirit inspired word. If even Jesus did not do battle with the temptations of Satan without consistently referring to what the Scriptures said, who are we mere humans to imagine we don't need it all the more???
Ephesians 6:17 "And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God"
Hebrews 4:12 "For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart"
Revelation 1:16 "And he had in his right hand seven stars: and out of his mouth went a sharp twoedged sword: and his countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength."
Revelation 2:16 "Repent; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth."
Revelation 19:15 "And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God."
Hopefully this isn't just another 'mother of God' thing but the above verses (assuming they're talking about the same "two edged sword") make it sound as though Jesus is coming out of Jesus mouth.
I infer it from the fact that your comment was removed by the Admin Moderator.
Then in the future, reference my ridiculous sayings, but do not reference the words of Jesus, and his blood, for your mockery. That’s all I ask.
Or not?
The ones listed are merely bad popes, and if they did not repent of their mortal sins they are certainly in hell (though we can’t know whether they repented.) I reckon there have been maybe a dozen real stinkers over the past 2000 years. Even Jesus in his own time averaged 1 out of 12. But that is not an argument against the papacy, any more than Lee Harvey Oswald is an argument against the Marines.
So now you retreat from your fallacious logic and simply assert irrelevance, as even if the NT books were in the Bible because the church of Rome put them there, which is false, it would not require all to submit to her any more than it did to the Jews who supplied recognized the majority of the books of the Bible.
Meanwhile, the 27 books exist because God inspired them, and not because they were infallible decrees from the magisterium, and they became established due to their heavenly qualities and attestation. And which consensus of the faithful a magisterium could only affirm, but no gave Divine writings their Divine inspiration. However, as usual. Catholicism subjected Scripture to being its servant, and thus erred in adding to it.
