If that is your personal conviction, that is fine. We all have personal convictions of one sort or another. Personal convictions adhered to on a personal basis is one thing, a preacher (for example) preaching his own personal convictions as gospel truth for all to adhere to is quite another -— which I don’t think you are advocating it would seem.
Seems like a false choice. On one side there is licentiousness and on the other polar opposite side is legalism. Neither licentiousness nor legalism should be followed. We shouldn’t follow the dictates of men, but instead go by the Bible and keep to the attire for our own gender and dress modestly, both of which can be accomplished by “walking in the Spirit” as the Bible says.
Sure, this will lead to some differences, but none of us qualify to take over the Holy Spirit’s job to tell others how they should or shouldn’t dress. We have all done this at times (I in different areas) and I have had to check myself on this at times.
The manner of dress for church members, young women included, OUGHT to lie with parents. Permissive parents ought not to "rule" appropriate dress for the House of the Lord.
Speak with your ministers about how best to approach this SINFUL, serious breach of church etiquette. Even a LETTER to the minister might be helpful.
What a shame. It IS distracting to YOU as well, as you end of thinking more about the girls in shorts (or spaghetti string tops) than the service.
One can always seat oneself in the VERY front so as to not even SEE these girls.
Of course, SOME may make a "entrance," late AND walk to the front to INSURE that all see her. A totally unconscious act...yeah, right.
It's an appalling lack of respect for our Lord.
There are some cases where women cannot find women’s jeans that fit them. In this case I wonder if God looks to the heart...
If some woman (in her heart) wanted to be a man and went looking for men’s clothing -— that would be one thing -— but a woman who just went looking for something that fit (because women’s jeans for some reason did not fit her)while all the time not wanting the aforementioned in her heart - I don’t see how that could offend God, because He looks to our motives as well.
I may be wrong, but then again, I don’t have fixed position on this right now.
LOL.
But “preaching” personal convictions or advocating (either implicitly or explicitly) ones own personal convictions as somehow being a Biblical standard for others to follow is something else.
There are NUMBERS of retail and on-line stores stocked with "oversize" women's clothes.
What my obese sister-in-law did was ALWAYS wear muu-mmus. THEY come in all lengths and sizes...PERFECT for the extra, extra large South Pacific/Polynesian women who once wear them. They will do for any obese woman/girl.
Jeans in that size just wouldn't exist. They would have to be specially ordered and made. MUU-MUUs are better.
It might be better to invest in Weight Watchers.
I am so sorry for your loss. May God, the one who comforts us as no one can, give you comfort. God bless.
Perhaps you need to ask that of the Duggars. The Bible says that each of us will be accountable before God in all things. With that in mind, pertaining to clothing, we are to 1.) dress modestly, 2.) not seek to wear the other genders clothing (i.e., intentionally seeking to engage in gender-bender activities), and 3.) “walk in the Spirit” so that we will not “fulfill the lusts of the flesh” so that he can lead us into all righteousness.
How some women arrive at the conclusion that they need to do this (i.e., wear a burka) is beyond me. Why some men want to foist this upon women is also beyond me. Playing God is not a good thing to engage in.
At the same time, I don’t know why some preachers want to preach their own personal convictions from the pulpit (that women should wear dresses) and tell women that they need to conform to the preacher’s personal convictions. I don’t believe they were ever called to do the Holy Spirit’s job nor were ever qualified to take over for Him.
There are oversized jeans, and that would probably be the way to go. Still, I cannot look into their heart. I have personally known some ladies who said that they couldn’t find any jeans that fit them in the women’s section. Whether or not this was true - again, I don’t know.
If some woman (in her heart) was seeking and looking to intentionally do the gender-bender thing - that would be scripturally unacceptable, though.
ALL true.
People get that size from:
1. NEVER, ever moving and
2. Feeding their faces with too much food.
It's not rocket science. They need prayer, back-bone, some exercise (even chair exercise), folks around them who care...and Weight Watchers.
If they have enough money for all that food they eat they have enough for Weight Watchers...the ONLY system that works on a temporary, sustaining and permanent manner.
It's no use using worms when they're biting on hellgrammites.
Thank you laissez-faire, I have mentioned it in passing on a thread here and there. I wish I had asked for prayers when the crisis started about 4 months previously but I had just had so many prayers offered up for me for a personal crisis of my own about a year before. That resolved satisfactorily finally and I appreciate those prayers so much.
“I have heard”, “but that has probably” “so maybe not”
Interesting phrasing you employ. just sayin’ ya’ know
In an educated view of women and Clothing is that women will dress in what ever they think will attract men, see string dress a 5 thousand year tradition.
When it comes to mating Daddy gets the last call and women to this day look to dad for approval.
Since the ministries finances are nor published ya know...
