Well, I guess I’m not politically correct then.
>>Well, I guess Im not politically correct then.<<
I don’t want anyone to be politically correct. I want you to desire liberty and an individual’s choice of their personal destiny.
You may decry it — you may want to put a structure in place to ensure that this is truly a deeply thought our decision and not a whim driven by momentary issues — but in the end, it is maximum liberty to allow the individual and not you, I nor the Government to make the final decision.
Anything less is theological dictatorship.
Guys you know I have the greatest respect and admiration for you and still the The Church as cheriched sister.
But I cannot sanction imposition of Canon onto others. One embraces the Church and her teachings with eyes open wide.
Life is a gift from God and He does not want us to discard it.
But there is no analogy to other God-defined morality here. Abortion is killing of others. Even drug-taking (another topic for another day) has a direct societal cost that can be debated.
Someone ending his/her own life has no such affect on disinterested 3rd parties.
Nor is this a “slippery slope” towards “a culture of death.”
It is just a personal decision.
I am alarmed by the number of people on this thread using massive logical fallacies in attempt to rebut my simple statement of liberty over tyranny (be it theological or governmental).
I just wanted you to know and I hope my stance on this hasn’t adversely affected what I consider to be our friendship on matters of The Church.
