Do you wish there were ONE thing you could do to rescue Christians who are in the cross-hairs for slaughter by ISIS terrorists in Iraq? Listen: there IS something you can do.
I got this appeal from Robert George, one of the most respected Catholics in the field of defending fundamental Human Rights. If you've heard of him, you know how great he is. If you've never heard of him, let me just tell you.. there's nobody I respect more.
Please heed his call and sign an online petition.
------from Robert George -------
YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE in the defense of Christians who are being brutalized and murdered for their faith by the violent terror group calling itself the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS).
We need to bring pressure on our government and the international community to dramatically increase humanitarian and military aid to our persecuted and suffering Christian brothers and sisters, as well as Yazidis and others. You can help. Please go to www.iraqrescue.org and join our plea on behalf of victims of ISIS barbarism. I will see to it that President Obama and the leaders of Congress get our messageloud and clear.
We are not asking for the re-deployment of American troops in Iraq. They are not needed. What we need is, first, humanitarian aid for victims and, second, air and intelligence support for Kurdish forces and others who are resisting ISIS on the ground.
If you and I lead, countless numbers of our fellow citizens will follow. The politicians will not be able to miss our message: We the people demand support for persecuted Christians and other victims of genocidal violence.
So, please, do what I and thousands of others have done. Go to www.iraqrescue.org and let your voice be heard!
Yours gratefully,
Robert P. George

----end of Robert George's message ---------
And pray to God--- I mean it, pray HARD --- for the defense of these brutally persecuted and innocent people.
Thank you.
Mrs. Don-o
bad link
Could somebody explain to me why it didn't link?
With no http:// in front of the address, FR apparently thinks you are trying to link to another article on this site, and not an external website.
I hope FReepers will take the extra 1/2 minute it takes, to go there and sign this petition.
Thank you. That works!
Quit feeding the beast... Stop all 401 contributions
Fast and pray also.
Done.
I’ll be sharing this with others. Thank you, Mrs. Don-o.
Huh? Why?
I’m not sure what you mean. It’s a petition, not a plea for funds. Unless I’m mistaken?
Really?
You actually believe that signing a petition has any influence whatsoever on Muslim Mass Murderers or our thoroughly Criminal Federal Government or the "See no Evil" Europeans?
Pretty pathetic.
The full text of Patriarch Sakos prayer for peace follows:
Lord,
The plight of our country
is deep and the suffering of Christians
is severe and frightening.
Therefore, we ask you Lord
to spare our lives, and to grant us patience,
and courage to continue our witness of Christian values
with trust and hope.
Lord, peace is the foundation of life;
Grant us the peace and stability that will enable us
to live with each other without fear and anxiety,
and with dignity and joy.
Glory be to you forever.
“Where two or three are gathered in my name, there I am in their midst.”
Why don’t you believe in praying?
Why is dogmatism always associated with presumption?
Empty gestures are not prayer..
And there is still the time-tested belief about "good intentions and roads..."
Second, if you know anything about movements at all, it's not an empty gesture, like a Twitter/hashtag flurry. It's a way toidentify and build a constituency.
By way of analogy, I 'm going to spend a whole week at the Appalachian Fair in Gray, TN next week, pushing a petitiion related to prolife legislation in TN. The petition is not direcrted to Planned Parenthood or the other bloody abortionists., It's going to be used o identify our prolife constituency and bring out the voite in Nov. for a prolife TN Cobstitutional Amendment we already have on the ballot.
This is how political mobilization is done. There's only two ways to do grassroots politics; the slow way, and no way.
We're for the slow way. You're for... well, in all fairness, you tell us your plan, OK?
Plus: I am one who respects God's promises and His power. Anyone who would scorn this, may as well die in their cynicism: they don't have a prayer.
