Connecticut Diocese Praises Pro-Abortion U.S. Rep. Joe Courtney For Amnesty Support
Breitbart ^ | 8/10/14 | Breitbart News

The Roman Catholic diocese of Norwich, Connecticut, under Bishop Michael Cote, has praised Congressman Joe Courtney (D-CT) for his work with diocesan groups toward amnesty for illegal immigrants, claiming that Courtney and the pro-amnesty groups are “working together to do the right thing.” Courtney, who was raised Catholic, last year was given a rating of 100% by NARAL Pro-Choice America, the largest organization in the United States that engages in political action to oppose restrictions on abortion and expand access to abortion. His 100% NARAL rating means that Courtney has always voted to ensure abortion has no restrictions and that, in fact, access to abortion can be expanded. The Congressman is featured in a photo accompanying an article on page 12 of the August issue of Four County Catholic, the diocesan newspaper, along with Sister Mary Jude, director of the diocesan Hispanic Ministry. “Immigration reform and immigration assistance continues to be a priority concern of the Church, the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, and the Hispanic Ministry here in the Diocese of Norwich,” reads the article. “Continuous efforts are underway to build awareness of the Catholic position on this matter with State legislators, national representatives and the public at large.” However, in 2004, the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) adopted a resolution, by a near-unanimous vote, that states' Catholic institutions should not honor pro-abortion politicians or provide them with a stage that would suggest support for their actions.

As reported in National Catholic Register, Bishop David Zubik of Pittsburgh said that providing for the needs of the young illegal immigrants is one facet of a truly pro-life philosophy....Similarly, Fr. James Melnick, writing at Catholic Stand, states that the recent words of Bishop Anthony Taylor of the Diocese of Little Rock indicate that pro-life issues and immigration are the top concerns of many dioceses in the South.

A case of Catholic Church leaders hunkering down on single issues and not looking at the ‘whole person’. The old Caesar===Caesar...God===God thingy still valid IMHO!

Went to mass in this diocese in ct for Christmas mass

No kids. At the five pm vigil mass at Christmas no kids

They had to open a second area for a whole different mass, the attendance differential from Christmas to Sunday was so profound

The group we were with was so inconvenienced at having to go to mass for Christmas that the kids said they felt like anne frank

It was so hot in there, the crowd was so dense, and not one of the many New York CEOs could manage to open a window or send his son to crack the door, the place was so foreign

I had to ask for a ride a couple of days prior to get to mass the lady of the house was at yoga. I got dropped at mass in one Porsche and picked up by the same person in a different Porsche

That’s the neighborhood this is in

There are working class neighborhoods there as well and Bridgeport is ther nearby anyway

People all over the country think they can tell the church what to do how to be what rules to have

These bishops are not out to destroy most grew up in democrat many in union households who hate wealth they’ve had bad experience with it but that’s crony capitalism. And the church here inserts itself into it.

Even the pope stated recently that government should give to the poor in an opinion piece

The church is NOT drawing people to the church. This family’s Catholicism goes back to st Patrick and in the last generation is losing multitudes through its misinterpretation

If they knew the real presence they’d be in there like their ancestors who helped build this country.

But now the big money men and their wives are not interested in the church nor their community. They just make money and play

The rest are waiting for leadership and a reverence for the church

But the USCCB has taken on social engineering. It is an abuse of power and misuse of Power

Per Charles Murray, blue collar whites, especially outside the south, are less religiously engaged than their upper middle class co-religionists. The Proles are not looking for any direction from the RCC either.

No doubt.

As much chaos and misdirection as the US political sphere.

They pretend the founding documents are antiquated and are to be disregarded.

THe glaring problem with that is, who is making up the new founding principles?

In this case it’s pro abortion politicians.

The bishops have been slapping the label “pro-life” on every cause other than the pro-life cause for the last 30 years.

The Seamless Garment is the doctrine that if you elect pro-abortion people, they will govern with wisdom, justice, and compassion. Most Catholic bishops and the entire Catholic bureaucracy still believes this evil, preposterous doctrine.

Most bishops, and the Catholic bureaucracy, are the enemies of the American people and the Catholic laity.

Catholics in the Northeast should be termed Catholics-In-Name-Only including fools like this moron Michael Cote. After I left Massghanistan and moved to Texas, I discovered the Catholics here are not into liberal feel-good crap and do not worship Baal as Michael Cote apparently does.

Catholics? America was built by Protestants, Catholics were less than one half of one percent, and concentrated in a single area, they didn't start growing until immigration started in the 1840s/1850s.

I said Catholics helped build the country.

Here’s your response.

I am sure there are many anti-Catholics who like to wee your point of view.

What ever

I merely pointed out American history, almost 100% Protestant, and .4% Catholic, until generations later when immigration got kicked off before the Civil war.

An anti-Protestant would try to cover up true American history and give the impression that American was not created by Protestants.

Oh, boy. Oh ok, protestants did everything the Catholics didn’t help build the country.

Is that what you’re looking for?
