@BarackObama's deafening silence - Qui tacet consentire videtur

News Analysis

Brethren, Peace be with you.

I'm still working on my next post on immigration. I apologize for being sidetracked by events.

President Barack Obama's silence is deafening across many issues needing his often eloquent voice. Let me give you three examples:
• During a "green on blue" attack, an Afghan soldier killed Major General Harold Greene in Kabul on August 5th, and a German brigadier wounded along with 13 others. The President's reaction? I'm still waiting for one.

• This morning I received a communication from the Iraq and Afghanistan's Veterans of America (IAVA) focusing on the high suicide rate among our veterans from these wars. The communication notes President Obama's silence and inaction on this very important issue. As an Afghanistan combat veteran and IAVA member, I am concerned at the President's silence.

• Then, there's President Obama's complete silence at the extermination of Christian people and cultural sites in Syria and Iraq at the hands of Islamofascist terrorists. However, the President took time to note the end of Ramadan and to send a congratulatory note to American Muslims on that occasion. There's nothing wrong with that, BTW, but the lack of similar notes to Christians on Easter and the continued silence of the Nobel Prize winning President before the genocide of Christians in the Middle East is maddening, and disconcerting.
An old Latin proverb goes: Qui tacet consentire videtur: he who keeps silence, consents - to the evil words spoken, or the the evil actions he or she witnesses. President Obama's silence is deafening, but it is also eloquent in its own way.
 • If you are tired of President Obama's silence and indifference before the genocide and ethnic cleansing of Christians in Iraq and Syria, I urge you to sign this petition at Change.org. Each petition signed means an e-mail is sent to the President's e-mailbox. I also urge you to write to him and to the Secretary of State in an old-fashioned letter, urging them to acknowledge the genocide and to take measures to stop it.

Not surprised. Obama sides with the Muslims.

Obama’s silence on death of Maj. Gen. Harold Greene comes under fire

... the administration does not want to signal that the death of a general officer merited a different response that any other service member’s would. As a general matter, the official said, the White House wants it to be known that every loss of life is tragic...
