A recent poll suggests that a majority of Americans believe Jesus would have backed universal healthcare. According to a YouGov survey released earlier in July, 55 percent of respondents believe that Christ would have endorsed the issue.
Despite this majority, a slight minority of American Protestants believed that the Jesus they knew would have supported universal healthcare. Only 48 percent of Protestants suggested this, in contrast to the 57 percent of Catholics who argued that their religion's founder would have backed it.
Aside from Jesus, 46 percent of Protestants and 55 percent of Catholics themselves backed the policy.
In addition to studying Christ's followers thoughts on his sentiments surrounding universal healthcare, the study also asked what Americans believed his convictions were on abortion, gay marriage, the death penalty, high taxes on the wealthy, stricter gun laws, and reducing carbon emissions.
Of the six issues mentioned above, the only one which the majority of Americans (52 percent) believed that Jesus might support was reducing carbon emissions. Sixty-four percent of Americans also endorsed them.
Only 20 percent believed that Christ would support abortion, though despite acknowledging this, 48 percent of Americans said they personally approved of it. Thirty-two percent of Americans argued that Christ would support gay marriage, while 48 percent also approved it. Among Protestants, 31 percent backed same-sex marriage and abortion.

he also said we should work
Jesus was endorsed to be crucified because he was NOT inclined to fulfill what the Old Covenant Jews thought a proper messiah should do, which was social justice and playing Robin Hood to the ruling class of Roman’s wealth and power. This poll is beyond stupid. Like saying Jesus would be for IPhones over Android or MaryAnn over Ginger. Secular idiots who don’t even know how many apostles there were, should not comment of what historical Jesus would do, it’s embarrassing and I am sure the Trinity is not all that happy with using his name to promote evil(Abortion), gets dangerously close to the unpardonable sin.
Yeah, I want the universe to have healthcare. I just don’t want to pay for it. I’m going broke paying for my own healthcare, and can’t afford to pay for the whole universe. All the universe’s creatures should pay for their own healthcare, and mine too. Can I get an Amen?
That makes no sense; you said Christians are obligated, legally and morally I presume, to pay whatever tax “Caesar” claims is due him.
Then, you bring up the concept of overthrowing the government.
Which is it?
It can’t be both.
Or are you claiming that you have to pay Caesar until you kill him?
That must be the New Testament Book of Healthcare.
Right
I’m sure that the topic of “a woman’s reproductive heath” , an Orwellian euphemism for late term partial birth abortions , would have been looked on especially favorably.
“The Lord, he uses the Good Ones and the Bad Ones use the the Lord.”
bkmk
“Most Americans look in the mirror and think, “ya, Jesus looks just like me.”
Jesus scandalized the elites of Jewish society, because he dealt with and promised salvation the even the despised tax-collectors. The modern day equivalents would be government bureaucrats.
I certainly don’t think Jesus would recommend handing them even more power though.
Did they ask the Respondents to define “Universal Healthcare”?
If not, the Poll is useless.
Remember, another Person’s Compassion ends at my Wallet.
It doesn’t begin there.
Most Americans are idiots. Christ would not support theft.
So...Jesus would support robbing Peter to pay Paul? Jesus would support depriving his servants of free will to serve the Lord? I think not. Nice bit of proganda, nazis...
I don’t think so.
Remember he said he didn’t even have a pillow to lay his head?
No one knows what Jesus would think about anything today.
No He would not. I find the Bible is fairly libertarian.
Look folks, we have tipped over the edge.
We are not a Christian majority nation. In fact, most lawmakers at the national level lean towards hostility towards Christianity. And 90% percent of news and entertainment media leans towards hostility.
To the extent Americans understand Jesus, they believe he is a socialist. They lean toward believing Jesus is a compassionate socialist, and that Christians are bigoted and mean.
Americans are ignorant of Howard Zinn, Saul Alinsky, and the ideology of the Progressive left. They are disinterest in ideology.
But to the extent that the huge chunk of disinterested middle America understands socialism, they tend to like it.
The poll is reasonable.
Our nation of liberty is finished. It’s over.
If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it.
“The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State. - Joseph Goebbels
He would only support it for doctors. “Physician heal thyself.”
Which means that Jesus would approve of abortion. I think not. Must be some pretzel logic in there that is really convoluted.
I don’t recall anything in the Bible about giving a man fish over teaching him to fish.
