Jesus Would Support Universal Healthcare, Say Most Americans
Christian Post ^ | 07/16/2014 | Morgan Lee

A recent poll suggests that a majority of Americans believe Jesus would have backed universal healthcare. According to a YouGov survey released earlier in July, 55 percent of respondents believe that Christ would have endorsed the issue.

Despite this majority, a slight minority of American Protestants believed that the Jesus they knew would have supported universal healthcare. Only 48 percent of Protestants suggested this, in contrast to the 57 percent of Catholics who argued that their religion's founder would have backed it.

Aside from Jesus, 46 percent of Protestants and 55 percent of Catholics themselves backed the policy.

In addition to studying Christ's followers thoughts on his sentiments surrounding universal healthcare, the study also asked what Americans believed his convictions were on abortion, gay marriage, the death penalty, high taxes on the wealthy, stricter gun laws, and reducing carbon emissions.

Of the six issues mentioned above, the only one which the majority of Americans (52 percent) believed that Jesus might support was reducing carbon emissions. Sixty-four percent of Americans also endorsed them.

Only 20 percent believed that Christ would support abortion, though despite acknowledging this, 48 percent of Americans said they personally approved of it. Thirty-two percent of Americans argued that Christ would support gay marriage, while 48 percent also approved it. Among Protestants, 31 percent backed same-sex marriage and abortion.

It’s always so amusing when state-controlled media pretends to know what Jesus would do.

Why wouldn't they? They think Obama is the Black Jesus. They're confused, but they are the press.

We had universal healthcare before Obama destroyed it.

BUMP TO THE TOP:

Health "care" is not the same as health "insurance". The liberal democrats have successfully conflated the terms with the help of the GOP-E liberal republicans. The difference does not register with low-information voters. Jesus may provide "care", but certainly not "insurance". He would be more apt to overturn the insurance salesmen's tables in the Temple.

No Jesus wouldn’t... he would say that you as an individual must see to the needs of the needy, and that the job of government is to make it easier for individuals to give as they prosper by the work of their own hands... he would say that governments are soulless and bureaucracies are corrupt and inefficient. Only the heart of an individual can be moved to assist the needy.

It’s always so amusing when state-controlled media pretends to know what Jesus would do.

In their arrogance they never hesitate to tell republicans which republican candidate is best for their party and are always ready to explain Christianity to Christians.

We had universal healthcare before Obama destroyed it.

By MSM logic that would make him Satan.

So it's unanimous!

What would Jesus think of big, corrupt government? He didn’t think much of the ruling class Sadducees in his time.

They can also “imagine” what John Lennon, the ultimate in dead celebrities and pop icons, would do or say. But can they really? I think not. Isn’t it amazing how liberals are so sure of a future that doesn’t actually exist?

Socialism is the idea that society would be better if we all lived at the expense of everyone else. This is plainly an institutionalized violation of the Commandments that forbid coveting and theft.

That society would really be better off is a lie, another sin.

It would be great for people who love God and His Law to explain to the public exactly that Jesus does support private voluntary charity but that He defines income redistribution as sin. See for example Matthew 20:15.

Proverbs 3:5-6 New International Version (NIV)

5 Trust in the Lord [not government] with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
6 in all your ways submit to him [the Lord, not the president],
and he will make your paths straight.[a]

Footnotes:

Proverbs 3:6 Or will direct your paths

Too many people today would say ‘in government we trust’ and look to the government to provide all their needs. They have turned their backs and walked away from God.

Ok, any statements or polls that say anything to the effect of Jesus being for a certain party or issue need to automatically get negated.

In the coming Jesus administration there will be no need for Universal Health Care since no one will ever get sick.

I think Jesus would turn over the tables in an angry fashion regarding insurance and insurance companies.

I think these people are confusing Jesus with Judas.

A good point.
