You should focus you energy telling the Good News to people who haven’t already heard it.

Not all Protestant churches have fallen. I’ll think about returning to the “mother church “ when it starts consistently excommunicating pols like Pelosy.

Why?

Jesus is all I need. I do not need the Traditions of the Catholic Church to get me right with God.

He has already Saved me from my sins and given me the New Birth (Born Again as Jesus said to Nicodemus).

I have no need to come back to the Catholic Church.

To my Protestant brothers and sisters:

It's time to come back to Mother Church. We want you, we need you, we love you.

How nice. Maybe some time a Christian can write an article...

To my Catholic brothers and sisters: It's time to come back to the one true Church founded at Pentecost. We want you, we need you, we love you.

Single issue conversions are like single issue voters. Leave the Protestant church to join a church with greater errors? Tying ones eternal future to some organized religion is pure folly.

Salvation comes with a faith in Christ alone. Put your trust in Jesus, not some organized “religion”. Then find a Bible based group to study scripture and give praise to God.

Geez, guys - work on your hymnal and we’ll talk about it.
3 or 4 good ones just ain’t enough for us who grew up in the tradition of actually opening our mouths and singing in church.

The Protestant Reformation produced much more than a bunch of squabbling denominations that stood on their heads to create ways of telling the goats from the sheep.(-:

And, on a serious note, pick up a copy of “When Christians Were Jews (That is, Now)” by Wayne-Daniel Berard.

You mean the Orthodox Church? The one Catholics blew off when they crowned Charlemagne as “Holy Roman Emperor” while there was still a Roman Emperor, who was the titular head of the church, in Constantinople?

Time to come back? No thanks. We're not the ones who left/perverted the true faith. I know that I am saved and that I will be in heaven. Not because of my own works, but because of Jesus.

If I was Catholic, I wouldn't know if I've done enough good works to merit heaven. If I was Catholic, I'd have to accept that I might need to suffer in purgatory to make up for my inadequacy. No thanks.

It is finished!

The first cracks denying the sacred nature of human sexuality began mere decades ago with the first tentative acceptance of contraception by a Christian church (the Anglicans).

That's backwards. For those who consider contraception an evil, it is the symptom of moral decay, not the cause of it.

If the moral decay wasn't already happening, contraception would not have gotten a foot hold.

Evil cannot gain a foothold where is it not allowed.

Contraception is an easy thing to hang one's hat on to blame the state of the world, instead of taking personal responsibility for our own contributions to the decadence of this planet.

Blame-shifting is always easier than doing something about it and feels so much better.

RE: It’s time to come back to Mother Church. We want you, we need you, we love you.

I don’t know, but as a non- Roman Catholic Christian, I have never thought that I had left the catholic (universal) church.

So, why do I need to come back? I’m already home.

I attended catholic grade and high school and taught CCD for a few years after high school. I don't ever remember hearing the true gospel presented. I heard that only catholics are going to heaven. I remember hearing that if I die suddenly with a mortal sin on my soul I will go to hell. I heard that if I'm in purgatory and my family has enough money they can have masses, novenas and candles lite to get me out of purgatory and into heaven. My grandmother often wonder why God loved the rich more than the poor, since they can get there loved one out quickly compared to the poor who might have to wait years to afford it.

When I started reading what the bible said I had lots of questions, like “God loves me?” He isn't looking for ways to send me to hell? The priest and nuns told us always how bad we were. The punishment from the nuns and priest would land them in jail today. The only kids not condemmed were the rich kids whose parents gave lots of money to the church. When I was taught about the martyrs I remember thinking that was the only way a sinner like me could get to heaven because I sinned every day and needed daily confession and my church only gave confessions once a week. The odds of getting to confession right just before I died were low.

As a young adult I wondered why the priest never talked about abortion or sex outside of married, the real things happening in our world. I left the church because I heard the good news of the gospel in Gods own words and felt hope and loved by a Father I never heard of.

I was starting to become politically active. I was wondering how politicians who were for abortion and homosexuality could be called a catholic and I knew I learned that people could be excommunicated for living in grave sins, let alone preaching what the church called moral sins. Ever wonder why there are so many liberal catholics? Look at the message the church is sending by allowing Pelosi, Kerry,....call themselves catholic. When Al Gore was allowed to speak at a catholic high school I knew I left a church that was hypocritical. Today they still allow pro abortion politicians who believe in it up to 9 months in the womb, and those who destroy a person for believing in traditional marriage to call themselves catholic. Being catholic means you can promote all kinds of sins and there are no consequences. I carefully chose my church that teaches us to live by Gods word and loves us enough to tell us the truth on right and wrong. I know I don't have to be a martyr to get to heaven, but believe in Jesus death on the cross as payment for my sin. I pray my former church puts Gods word before mans beliefs.

As a lo-info, non-denominational Christian just trying to figure things out as best I can somewhat late in life, I've come to believe that the Catholics have more information and a better understanding of our Triune God and the Supernatural than the Protestants do.

However, to an outsider, the Catholics have also have built what looks like a formidable bureaucracy around their take on spiritual things, complete with pageantry, ritual and formal rules of behavior, and have maintained them with seemingly as much zeal as with their faith in God.

To the uninitiated outsider, this bureaucracy and its rules and rituals are difficult to understand and they get between the seeker and what I believe is their more completely balanced soul food the seeker hungers for.

My guess is that this bureaucracy also makes it hard for the Protest-ants to come back, since it seems to be why they left in the first place.

Well, I would say “thank you” for your kind gesture and attempt at out reach! We all know most of the differences that separate us and that is likely to remain unchanged till the Lord returns. However, as we see the world become increasingly evil, I do see a time when there will, and probably will need to be, more cooperation between us - and yes, less hatred and stone throwing. I think both groups could move in that direction. Doctrinally, I don’t think we will ever see eye to eye. Doctrine is important - who’s willing to compromise(?) - most likely no one. So let’s not spend our energy there. On big picture social issues, like abortion, gay marriage and other moral issues that are destroying our culture, we should be able to speak loudly with one voice. We could hold our elected officials to a much higher standard. We should also be able to speak as one voice to the benefits of following Christ and being conformed to his likeness in word and dead. Being surrendered to his will and the repudiation of the self-life. There is bad fruit on both sides of the isle. So, perhaps we could do a better job as well at some house cleaning. Starting with our own heart and life. Ok, let the flaming begin.

Having protestant daughters observing the pope’s calendar(heck the whole world does this), observing the pope’s sabbath(Jews have a pope appointed sabbath, too) and observing the pope’s holy days of december 25 and easter just not enough for their mother..

Give a little, and she wants more.. sound like politicians we know...

That is an awful lot adopted by mother that isn’t sola scripura... it’s more like sola popa....
(Or however the greco roman latin churches say it)

In English, the word for all that is counterfeit...

I think it is called pseudo in the greco roman latin-
Lies, deception, falsehoods according to my concordance...

A handy dictionary of synonyms has pseudo’s synonyms as counterfeit, spurious, bogus, fake, sham, phony..

Scripture warned us pseudo’s would come...

december 25 and easter alone are substitutes for His real birth day(found with His Calendar and Scripture) and His resurrection day (scripture tells us feast of first fruits, the 16th day of His first month)

some Jews observed that ‘16th’ on a pope gregory woden’s day and some observed it a month later on a pope gregory Friya’s day..
Now, one was wrong, but the template used was accurate according to scripture- and neither hit the mother’s friday-sunday template...

Protestants haven’t proved all things yet... they still rely on their mother and early church fathers (who were birthed from the mother) for way too much that just isnt scriptural.. goes to the very heart of worship life...

The mother will never be happy till she has fully compliant daughters..

disown her..
Lies and pseudos never lead to the genuine Way, Truth or Life.

They lead to copies and ‘in place of’s’ and ‘instead of’s’..-
And my concordance calls that stuff ‘Anti’....

Unity with ‘anti’s’ wasn’t comfortable for me... but each believer has their own life to live and journey to take...

Some want to be close to mother...
