An OPC Pastor Enters the Catholic Church
Called to Communion ^ | Feb 7th, 2012 | Jason Stewart

Posted on 06/21/2014 1:28:22 AM PDT by Al Hitan

Let me begin this conclusion by ending at the beginning: My wife Cindy and I entered into full communion with the Catholic Church because we came to see that this Church is the Church established by Jesus Christ. We came to this realization in large measure by spending time in the Catechism of the Catholic Church, reading other positive presentations of Catholic teaching, and speaking with flesh and blood Catholics in all walks of life and vocations. The many misconceptions we had about what Catholics believed were cleared away as we dug deeply into the teaching resources of the Catholic Church and talked with actual Catholics. We began to recognize that all the Church taught and claimed was verified and confirmed in the Bible, by history, and in the lives of the saints. Over time we came to understand that the Catholic Church represents the fullness of what Christ wanted to reveal to his people; that it possesses all the gifts that our Lord wanted us to have; and that the Church in its liturgy, its apostolic teaching, the Eucharist, the sacraments, and its saints, serves as the definitive place where God’s grace is on full offer. The reason being — it is the Church of Jesus Christ most fully and rightly ordered through time. Yes, unquestionably a profound claim. But it is the one made by the Catholic Church in all ages, and it is the claim we have come to accept.

This is your invitation to test and see. I assure you that there is no lack of evidences for her divine origin. Such are openly verifiable and abundant. One need only the willingness to discern them. Whatever my personal story may be, the proof of the Catholic Church’s divine origin resides in the realm of history. The evidences are public, out there for you to examine. You are not at the mercy of my personal judgments concerning this claim about the Catholic Church. Instead you are free to investigate the facts of the Church’s perduring existence, her miraculous life, her divine teachings, the abiding fruit of her mission in the world from the time of Christ even down to our present day. The clues are all there; they await you. You need only begin to pursue them.

You certainly are not one to judge Mother Theresa, considering your behavior on the Ukraine threads.

Keep your apologia for Putin in the appropriate threads. Don't drag it into other threads where it has nothing to do with anything.

Plus, since that is not a direct quote, but from Desmond TooToo, I’ll wait until I see another source.

The quote is a famous one quoted constantly. I have never seen it rebuked as a false quotation of Mother Teresa, but only have seen it praised by various folks who are inclined to ecumenism. Zen Buddhists, Rabbis, and other folks, speak of her "ecumenical" spirit. There is more:

"Some call Him Ishwar, some call Him Allah, some simply God, but we have to acknowledge that it is He who made us for greater things: to love and be loved. What matters is that we love. We cannot love without prayer, and so whatever religion we are, we must pray together."

The faith aspect is very important, for it is from the word of God, but also it is very important to have the fellowship of believers. Even in the NT book of Hebrews it says that is it important to keep fellowship with the believers in the Lord.

Right there is the problem. The Word of God is what he should be reading.

Who says he didn't? But be that as it may, Scripture is cited all through the Catechism, because, after all, it is Jesus who we follow, and Scripture is HIS story.

The FR religious forum is nothing but a platform for the RCC, bashing protestantism, pushing their marxist pope, and pushing the papacy, this thread typical of their agenda.

My "agenda" is clearly stated in post #2. If this thread hurt your feelings, you might be better suited to participate only in caucus threads.

Thankfully, I only write one check...

But you didn't answer. What system do you use when writing the date on that check?

So a Presbyterian pastor, like the soldier Bergdahl, defects to the RCC. No pushing of the RCC there at all, no sir, no agenda at all. yeah, right.

Why do you hate the good, and call it evil?

Don’t you realize that that is precisely the “sin against the Holy Spirit” that Jesus warned about?

Thank-you for the opportunity to bump this thread again.

So a Presbyterian pastor, like the soldier Bergdahl, defects to the RCC.

I didn't know that Bergdahl defected to the Catholic Church. Are you sure you have your facts straight?

No pushing of the RCC there at all, no sir, no agenda at all. yeah, right.

I can't confirm that either the good pastor or Bergdahl had an agenda. As for me, I already told you my agenda was clearly stated in post #2.

If that bothers you so much, maybe you should talk to someone about it. Again, the open threads probably aren't for you.

I did answer... the secular humanist banks do not recognize our Heavenly Father’s timekeeping.. so, I render to caesar what is caesars...

If someone told me I don’t have to put a date on a check, that would be nice but I certainly don’t want the instrument to be non-negotiable for the intended party as there are ‘date rules’ by the secular humanist banks...

Enjoy your sun’s day!

I don’t disagree with that quote; with the caveat that anyone who thinks the Lord of all is pleased with slaughtering those who use a different name for Him actually are not worshiping God at all. In fact many peoples’ idea of “God” is far from the reality.

People who think that any non-Christian (and even more, those who are not members of their particular denomination) are going to hell are in deep illusion.

Actually, you didn't. But it is now apparent that you use the same system the rest of us do.

Enjoy your sun’s day!

I'm in the Spirit of the Lord's day, but unfortunately it is a regular work day where I live.

Nice try...

If there was a bank out there that didn’t adhere to the pope’s calendar and the world’s system, they would have my business..

Problem is, the world’s business, political and religions are united on that unbiblical system...

But that isn’t new.. babylon had been around in the past uniting the world under things not from our Heavenly Father...

Nice try...

You're the one who told me you make use of the same system. Now, don't be a hypocrite and lecture the rest of us.

-His sabbath was two days ago, according to His Word..

So today is the 2nd work day of His week...

Wherever you are, they may have stumbled onto His calendar, in part...

Jews, Muslims, and Christians all have their ‘sabbath’ hit His once in awhile...

His Sabbath hasn’t been a sun’s day since grgeorian February...

Which book about Mother Teresa did you read?

Name and author please.

When is the Lord’s day, which is the one we should be most interested since the coming of the Lord, Jesus Christ?

I am not lecturing..if it feels that way, that is a shame..but trying to play gotcha is telling too..

I am saying the daughter churches use the mother churches timekeeping., The same the satanists use, the secular humanists, atheists- all of them..the same I used...

And it isn’t what is found in scripture..it doesn’t tie to our Savior’s life...

You are free to be of the world and ignore His biblical timekeeping and calendar for the world’s system...
Its much more comfortable and much easier to have a career, go to school, and be a good citizen of the world when you play by the world’s rules...

But agreeing with the world, knowing who the god of this world is as it says in scripture- is a position I am not comfortable with..

And the article was about a OPC pastor choosing His mother over the daughter.. and I showed where they really are not different enough, from a ‘protestant’ point of view.. that apparently is a touchy issue to both sides dueling going on with the mother/daughter spats here....

At least if the reformers in 1599 and their opinions are worth anything to ‘Protestant’s today’...
Those reformers believed the papacy was Antichrist in revelation...that is a fact..

If a protestant accepts that premise, what about following and observing what the Antichrist does is a ‘good’ thing for a believer?

You may be catholic, I don’t know -
but people in the OPC are not catholics and would be a little staggered if they ultimately thought they were following their mother as blindly as they do( that is if they believe their mother is what those reformers thought)...all without even knowing it..

And that is what His calendar is all about... counterfeits are not truth or genuine and is a subtle as can be..

And people who read this article will see there is an alternative to the world.. and it is in His Word,. And isn’t new... just ignored.

And even the very elect will argue for the world and its system and defend their mother or daughter at the same time..

We are certainly helping ecumenism... :)
