For the first time in history, Islamic prayers and readings from the Quran will be heard at the Vatican on Sunday, in a move by Pope Francis to usher in peace between Israelis and Palestinians.
Francis issued the invitation to Israeli President Shimon Peres and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas during his visit last week to Jordan, Israel, and the Palestinian Authority.
Abbas, Peres, and Francis will be joined by Jewish, Christian and Islamic religious leaders, a statement released by Peress spokesperson said, according to the Times of Israel.
Holy See officials on Friday said the evening prayers would be a pause in politics and had no political aim other than to rekindle the desire for Israeli-Palestinian peace at the political and popular level, according to the Associated Press.
Low expectations
The Vatican will broadcast a live feed of the event to viewers across the world.
However, expectations for the event should be kept low, according to Rev. Pierbattista Pizzaballa, the custodian of Catholic Church property in the Holy Land.
[No-one should think] peace will suddenly break out on Monday, or that peace is any closer, AP reported him as saying.
On Friday, the Pope met with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, and discussed ways of promoting peace and stability in Asia the Vatican said in a statement.
**But perhaps this does give some clarity on the cathechism where it says the catholics and muslims both adore the one, merciful God. **
As do the people of Judaism.
evade, change the subject, deflect, dodge the issue....hey, you're as good as Obama.
What’s next? Open up a nunnery as a brothel, then have pregnant nuns have abortions several months later as a gesture of peace towards Planned Parenthood? /s
Does that post mean that you have switched over to supporting the story?
No, just posting some facts that some people are not aware of.
My prediction is that the dissenters on the thread will come to believe the article and approve of the Pope’s calling for Muslim prayers in the Vatican.
Much of the Koran is lifted from the Bible.
Jesus is Issa and Mary is Maryam.
On Mt. Hira: Mohammad said that he heard his message from the Angel Gabriel: "O Muhammad! Thou art Allah's messenger, and I am Gabriel." Muhammad stood quite still turning away his face from the brightness of the vision, but whithersoever he might turn his face from the brightness of the vision, there, always stood the angel confronting him."
And so on.
The Arabs KNEW of the Scriptures of the Jews and Christians. The words of the Koran, laced with Biblical words, were recited in a trance by Mohammad.
The Arabs had no writing of their own and the Arabic alphabet was developed JUST for the Koran.
My husband was given a Koran by an Arab contractor who showed his gratitude by giving him a Koran. Bribery, which was big over there, was not allowed, no gifts, nothing. But the Koran was considered an acceptable gift.
My husband has passed but I still have the Koran. Naturally, it's green.
The Pope is actually a fool. He’s not liberal on many things, but he wants to be liked and he believes that this “it’s all cool” approach will make him liked.
If he were just one poor silly aging product of the 60’s, I’d feel sorry for him. But he’s dragging the entire Church through this, and my sympathy is wearing thin.

What are your opinions of common prayers of a Pope, or any Catholic for that matter, with infidels? Please note the source of link above; is it biased also?
Nope.
Catholic doctrine is not affected by having a foolish pope. Sorry that was not what I meant at all.
It’s also traditional to offer a Koran to an infidel and treat the infidel as a friend, before they decide to slaughter the infidel.
If the infidel chooses to convert, then the one giving him the Koran is considered to have performed his duty with the conversion between Allah and the convert and if not, then the slaughter is considered just by Islamic standards.
Either way, it’s a premeditated act of arrogance in the mind of a murderous criminal to escape accountability for premeditated murder before the eyes of Allah.
Do NOT mistake a friendly gesture by other spiritual forces as a Christian act of grace.
Do you kiss your Koran as others have?
Lol. You don't know Arabs. Of course, most Muslims aren't Arabs. I think the largest group of Muslims is the Indonesian contingent. North Africa and the near and middle east are stuffed with'em.
===================================
From Google:
There are currently an estimated 6.7 billion people on the planet Earth.
As of 2010, over 1.6 billion or about 23.4% of the world population are Muslims. Of these, around 62% live in Asia-Pacific, 20% in the Middle East-North Africa, 15% in Sub-Saharan Africa, around 3% in Europe and 0.3% in the Americas.
Approximately 33% of those, or 2.2 billion, consider themselves Christian. That makes Christians the largest religion in the world by far. However, Islam is currently growing at a higher rate than Christianity.
Just over half of those Christians, or about 1.1 billion, are Roman Catholic (with some additional 240 million Eastern Orthodox). That makes Roman Catholics, by an overwhelming margin, the largest denomination of any religion on the planet. No other Christian denomination comes anywhere close to comparing.
Sorry...the pope establishes catholic doctrine...he is supposed to be the vicar of Christ. in other words, he stands in stead of Christ.
And now he is letting Islam into the Vatican....the home of the "chair of Peter"?
Sorry...if he's erred on this one, there isn't any way to know where else he's erred. Well, actually, there is. Just compare catholic doctrine against the Bible.
No, but I sat on it at the Dhahran Airport and almost caused some Arab woman to have a heart attack. I did get up and put it in my bag. Geez, lady, it's just a book!
Besides, I'm a Catholic and I attend Mass every single day of my life, a habit I acquired while living and working in Saudi Arabia.
My Muslim boss told me that "God is number One. There is always time for God." I was told that I could to to pray WHENEVER I wanted. So, I went to our daily Mass there. The priest, Protestant minister and Anglican priest were called "special teachers" because men of the cloth weren't allowed in the KSA. So, they were called "special teachers."
That was a strange post, of course Islam sees this as a victory.
A Muslim cleric leading Muslim prayers in the Vatican, Muslims will love that and will see it as a territorial victory.
Well, my husband and I only lived and worked in Saudi Arabia for five years, but what do I know of Muslims?
YOU know MUCH better because.
What are you babbling about? The posts were about Imams in the Vatican; Arabs were not mentioned.
About as much as Bowe Bergdahl knows about them? He spent about the same amount of time with them.
