Francis took off his shoes to step into the gold-topped dome, which enshrines the rock where Muslims believe the Prophet Mohammad ascended to heaven.
Speaking to the grand mufti of Jerusalem and other Muslim authorities, Francis deviated from his prepared remarks to refer not just to his "dear friends" but "dear brothers."
"May we respect and love one another as brothers and sisters," he said, and added, "May we learn to understand the suffering of others! May no one abuse the name of God through violence!"

Muslim invasions have killed tens of millions of Orthodox Christians over the past 1,400 years and have tried to destroy Christianity in the East.
‘Not sure that holds a candle to catholic/protestant carnage.’
How do you break down your ‘Christian carnage’ stats? About how many tens of millions do you credit to Catholics, & how many to non-Catholics?

It’s some sort of face that has appeared over time in the stone.
Looks insect-like to me, but I could see horns, too.

Good googly bleedin’ moogly. That is a real pic? That is hellaciously spooky. Looks like sometimes Satan just can’t help himself; he’s just got to grab a little credit.

Revelation 9: 1 Then the fifth angel sounded: And I saw a star fallen from heaven to the earth. To him was given the key to the bottomless pit.
2 And he opened the bottomless pit, and smoke arose out of the pit like the smoke of a great furnace. So the sun and the air were darkened because of the smoke of the pit.
3 Then out of the smoke locusts came upon the earth. And to them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power.
4 They were commanded not to harm the grass of the earth, or any green thing, or any tree, but only those men who do not have the seal of God on their foreheads.
5 And they were not given authority to kill them, but to torment them for five months. Their torment was like the torment of a scorpion when it strikes a man.
6 In those days men will seek death and will not find it; they will desire to die, and death will flee from them.
7 The shape of the locusts was like horses prepared for battle. On their heads were crowns of something like gold, and their faces were like the faces of men.
8 They had hair like womens hair, and their teeth were like lions teeth.
9 And they had breastplates like breastplates of iron, and the sound of their wings was like the sound of chariots with many horses running into battle.
10 They had tails like scorpions, and there were stings in their tails. Their power was to hurt men five months.
11 And they had as king over them the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in Hebrew is Abaddon, but in Greek he has the name Apollyon.

Because I am Orthodox, I am not permitted to be on the Temple Mount for a number of reasons, both political and theological, but the existence of the face is well-known.
Just google “face on dome of rock”

Thanks for that tip. I found a still shot from a youtube video that I really want to watch. Unfortunately, since I found it via Bing I can’t seem to get to the original page—at least not the one with a direct link to youtube. Maybe the video has been taken down?
Anyway, here’s the still. If you or anyone else can link me to the actual film, I will be extremely grateful:

Cut the guy a break. He’s toeing the Catholic line here. The CCC already states that Catholics and Muslims worship the same God, so this “brother” stuff” is hardly surprising.

I consider his means of address as him being courteous. Nothing more or less. I cant envision Pope Francis being insulting to them inside the Dome of the Rock. Why was your pope even inside the dome of the rock??? This was to be a Christian mission with Christians...It has turned into a political mission with muzlims...
Your pope wants to sit on the Throne of David as the big peacemaker...And he's working at it...

You mean “St” JPII”s Catechism? Uggh. With every day I realize as a Traditional Catholic that this post VII religion is NOT THE SAME.

Interesting. Do you, as a lay Catholic, get to make that judgment? Sounds somewhat "protestant"...

He’s the John McCain of popes. I can hear him saying, “Christianity is good but Islam would make a pretty good religion too.”
To: Gamecock
has anybody questioned their local Diocese regarding the Pope.
i have to admit this guy makes me very uncomfortable.
