Francis took off his shoes to step into the gold-topped dome, which enshrines the rock where Muslims believe the Prophet Mohammad ascended to heaven.
Speaking to the grand mufti of Jerusalem and other Muslim authorities, Francis deviated from his prepared remarks to refer not just to his "dear friends" but "dear brothers."
"May we respect and love one another as brothers and sisters," he said, and added, "May we learn to understand the suffering of others! May no one abuse the name of God through violence!"

Have you ever really taken issue with anything said or done by anyone your faith group? Or do you just stick your head in the sand?
“May we respect and love one another as brothers and sisters,” he said, and added, “May we learn to understand the suffering of others! ** May no one abuse the name of God through violence!” **
What would Christians disagree with in these quotes? The last sentence seems to be pointed directly at Muslims.

Cain. Abel.
Maybe no head-chopping was involved, but murder certainly was.
(I don't care for 90% of the pronouncements from this Pope. And certainly, yes, there are many Catholics who defend everything - good, bad, and ugly - that their Church does. But this statement isn't too awful.)
Cain killed his brother Abel.
Muslim invasions have killed tens of millions of Orthodox Christians over the past 1,400 years and have tried to destroy Christianity in the East. Some brothers! But you can't expect someone from the West to know or understand any of that.
Of course. Trusting in MAN and not God always spells trouble.
“Popery at its very best.Wonder, I do, where this fits: Scripture or Tradition?”
So, I suppose some can ignore Scripture when it comes to “loving your brother” and “treating/loving others as you want to be loved”.
Having hope for peace is part of being a Christian. This doesn’t negate our ability to defend ourselves against those who wish to behead us.
And that didn’t end well for either one, now did it?
Oh I see. We can ignore the word of God when the situation demands it.
