Then the “Protestant” service you’re really against is pretty much nonexistent. I have 60 years of experience as a Protestant, literally thousands of services attended, including some charismatic groups, and never once saw what you are describing, though I think there are some movies mocking Christianity that have had such scenes. Not that I disapprove of making a joyful noise unto the Lord. Just that your stereotyping misses probably 98 or 99% of typical Protestant services. But if you are happy with your stereotype, who am I to burst your bubble? :)

Dontcha love how Catholics who never go to Protestant worship services are such experts on them?

Most protestant services, especially evangelical/pentacostal, is one man prancing back and forth on the stage, beating his fist into a Bible, telling everyone else they’re going to hell if they don’t get straight with the Lord. Sprinkled in with a lot of hollering, singing and shouting from the audience, intermingled with AMENS every 2 minutes.

Compared to doctrine from the CCC which tells people that they are going to hell if they don't submit to Catholicism. They have to be baptized, go to confession, take communion, not miss mass, etc. So the Catholic church tells people they're going to hell if they don't get right with Catholicism.

Tonto, I was a baptist/pentacostal/holy roller for 58 years of my life. Don’t tell me I don’t know what I’m talking about.

Well, that explains the hatred and bitterness. Another poorly discipled angry ex-Prot.

Let go of your hate. Any Evangelical church will take you back. Just find a pastor somewhere to talk to.

Once a Prot, always a Prot.

Come, cross back over the Tiber.

Given the early posts on this thread, it seems that most Catholics are quite comfortable with lying to fellow Christians. That comment (Post #119) is not unexpected.

Yep, sweeping generalizations are a temptation for all of us. As I’ve said before, if I were to judge all of Catholicism based on my in-laws up north, I’d think all Catholics were pro-abort libs who love Obama and his communist ideas, especially single payer (Big Brother) healthcare. I know that isn’t true of many Catholics, but that’s what judging based on the limitations of my personal experience would lead to if I let it.

I can count on ONE hand the number of Catholics I have met in my life who are conservative.

WNY is a liberal bastion, corrupt politically, and Catholic to the core.

NYC isn't much better.

You have the experience of one person. Your claim was that “MOST” protestant services, which obviously you do not know, Kimosabe.

Clearly, poorly catechized!

Please come back! Once a Protestant, always a Protestant!

And I am also from the South, where most of the shyster evangelican “preachers” come from. I grew up listening to these Elmer Gantry-types. “Repent now sinner, the kingdom of God is at hand!!” Then after collecting a couple thousand dollars he hops in his cadillac with his blonde-headed bimbo trophy wife and takes off, never to be in the county again!
Yes I am quite familiar with these co-artists.

That you saw an example of shysters doesn’t make the majority of Protestants shysters, any more than the abundance of pedophile priests equates to all priests being boy lovers.

Don’t you think that’s the other way around. Why on earth would a protestant attend a Catholic Mass? But on FR all the Catholic-bashers are experts in Catholicism, most life-long protestants. BUT, the absolute worst Catholic-bashers are the ones that fell away from the Church and stay on a never-ending guilt trip, so they spend their life cutting down other Catholics.

It seems that it may have been an actual kiss since that’s what he calls it. I like it though and even share a kiss on the cheek with some people.

I think the timing is a little off but not sure where I would put it instead of its current place.

This seems to describe your posts with a slight word change...

“BUT, the absolute worst Protestant-bashers are the ones that fell away from the Church and stay on a never-ending guilt trip, so they spend their life cutting down other Protestants.”

Ironic.

Doctrine tells a Catholic what to do, not a priest, not a shyster Elmer Gantry. Catholics know right from wrong. There are no gray areas. Protestants are on their own, they can believe anything they feel like believing, with everyone right about scripture. Just ask them. No authority to turn to, no nothing.

I woke up from my slumber and knew there had to be more to being a Christian that hearing a drunk preacher tell me I was going to hell if I didn’t get right with the Lord. Protestants, no sacraments, and everyone knows more about Jesus than the other person. Everyone with a different opinion about what the Bible says, and of course they are all right. Just ask them.

Thank you, no, I would rather be on my knees praying to Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Well of course!

Protestants, no sacraments,

Because there are none. Though some denominations have them. Most just follow the Lord's Supper & Baptism of believers.

and everyone knows more about Jesus than the other person.

Heck of a church you attended.

Everyone with a different opinion about what the Bible says

I can't speak for them, but apparently they cared about what it actually says, unlike many conversations with catholics here.

of course they are all right. Just ask them.

Clearly not. But you've simply outsourced study for being told by one source.
