Tens of thousands of people, including hundreds of local parishioners, have protested new teacher contracts drawn up by the Archdiocese of Cincinnati that require teachers to live by and publicly affirm the Catholic Church's teaching on homosexual relationships, abortion, premarital sex, and other core doctrines.
Nationally, tens of thousands of people have signed petitions decrying the new contract stipulations.
Last Tuesday, several dozen parishioners protested the contracts, and about 1,000 parishioners have signed a petition demanding the diocese change the language of the contract.
Most opposition to the contract concerns the language of the contract, which requires fidelity to Catholic doctrine. One petition at FaithfulAmerica.com, which has over 21,000 signatures around the nation, attacks the contract for barring teachers from having or supporting homosexual relationships. The "new teacher contract is intrusive, cruel, flies in the face of Pope Francis's tone of welcome and humility," it said.
Another petition, which has over 1,000 mostly local petition signatures, expresses concern about "the potential of teaching staffs...to become a homogeneous group which lacks the diversity that's reflective of our communities," as well as "the future of our Catholic schools and their sustainability based on the restrictive, non-inclusive trend of the Cincinnati Archdiocese and their policies."

The point of selecting Catholic schools is so students don’t have to go to Public Schools, where teachers are required to support STATE ideology.
I support this 100%. Too many liberals are poisoning our Catholic youth.

The world has gone crazy! When outsiders can decide what that Catholic school’s requirements are, we are lost as seems to be the case in many other things.
I have to agree with those who can draw a straight line to the
prevailing open arms policy toward dissent and dissenters that have led to license in the Church, in so many dioceses.
The Traditionalists, for example, have broadly been known to receive a much colder reception from many bishops and priests than any cause celeb of the Left, who occupy seats of influence. Illegal border entry comes to mind, but there are other issues of even more importance.
They should just close the schools down, and tell the teachers and students to go some place else.
Many Churches has changed from a faith to just an institution, many people in these Churches, even members do not know the first thing about what a Christian is supposed to be about.
The Catholics claim to have the authority given to them by the apostles, why don`t they show it by taking the lead in bringing the Church out of the secular world?
I hope they do not back down from these liberal sobs.
As an new convert and an alum of an evangelical Protestant private school myself, I’m shocked, shocked to hear that Catholic diocesan schools expect their faculty at least to try living up to the faith.
Yeah, not really. If you don’t like it, guys, there’s always the public schools.
Find a job elsewhere.

Hundreds of dollars would be cheap. The local Catholic Schools in Cleveland charge between $3,500 - $5,000 per student for grade school and $12,000 - $15,000+ for High School. The fees are in the hundreds.
Shame on the bishops for having neglected to ensure that Catholics are taught the faith, including with regard to sexual morality, in the past 50 years.
