Homosexuality promoted through Catholic Charities [vanity]

Posted on 03/25/2014 7:32:08 PM PDT by Faith Presses On

Something I was reminded of when I heard about World Vision deciding to hire those in "gay marriages" is how Catholic Charities has long promoted homosexuality. I know this because when I was living as a lesbian 15 to 20 years ago, I went to Catholic Charities several times for counsleing, and I found that the counseling was purely secular. When I went with a "partner," our lifestyle was embraced by the counselor. When I went to a couple other counselors myself later on, I was beginning to have doubts about this life, but one counselor even tried to encourage me to accept homosexuality. She said she had many homosexual friends, and these gay friends affectionately called their straight friends "breeders," but beyond that difference all relationships are the same.

It's troubled me for a long time that the Catholic Church raises money for Catholic Charities, and it goes for psychological counseling, which only makes one conform to the ways of the world.

I believe no one’s personal story to try and get someone else stirred up.

Then there's is zero chance of YOU ever becoming a MORMON!

I will also quicly add to what I’ve said so far that I know CatholIc Charities fundraises directly through Catholic churches. My mother is a Catholic and has talked about the situation on them seeking donations and her decision on what to give them.

Most Catholic Charities do not give advise on how to be a good little homosexual. You know it and I know it. And if the story had involved a protestant charity it would not have been posted. No link or anything, just a poster telling FR what they allegedly witnessed at a Catholic charity. Same crap, different day.

No, I don't know it and neither can you. We can HOPE they don't, but unless we visit every one, you can't know for sure. But tell me, why is it the FIRST thing you think reading this thread is that it couldn't be possible and the poster was lying in order to "bash" Catholics? How are you ever going to resolve REAL problems if you cannot bring yourself to acknowledge they exist?

As for negatives about "Protestant" charities, you apparently don't pay attention. There are FRoman Catholics waiting with baited breath to be the first to post damaging threads about any and all things "Protestant" - whether or not the sources are unimpeachable. It's a frequent occurrence.

Faith Presses On gave her OWN testimony and it's kinda silly to expect a "link or anything". Regardless if you believe her or not, your fellow FRoman Catholics HAVE given links and statistics that demonstrate the possibility of the poster's testimony and the reasons behind why it happens. Don't like reading about it? Skip these threads, no use getting an ulcer over it.

Thank you for your honesty. I guess you can look forward to being accused of Catholic bashing, too. ☺

Well if you start hiring anybody off the street to work for you and you could care less whether they are Catholic or not, don’t be surprised at what you get. But the homosexual-loving employee certainly does not speak for the Catholic Church and the positions held by the Catholic Church anymore than a non-Catholic nurse that works for Catholic hospitals all over the country. The poster was trying to tar and feature Catholic Charities as being some great defender of homosexuals, which is downright silly.

>>There is no wrong that the Catholic church can commit that some Catholics will not defend.<<

It’s an indication of where they think their salvation comes from. They are petrified that they have put their faith in the wrong place. Those who put their faith in Christ alone have no compunction of condemning wrong doing within an organization. And if that organization has systemic wrong doing will readily leave that organization lest they get caught up in the evil.

It’s going to get worse as time goes on also. The Catholic Church, and all churches for that matter, have shown more and more willingness to leave the true teaching of scripture for the easier and more “PC” version of religion. Unless those who desire salvation put their faith in Christ alone they will get pulled down with all of the organized religions.

That is the most supremely ironic comment I've ever read on FR...especially coming from the queen of sectarian FR spam.

King...... FYI.

Elsie ain't no lady, although some people have counted him as one recently.

No fortune telling needed. It’s all in the prophecy in scripture.

I never see threads of Catholics initiating an argument with protestants on FR. Never. What I do see is Catholics posting a thread containing Catholic teachings that are automatically attacked by protestants. Most of the Religious threads on FR are started by Catholics, who are very proud of their faith and like to keep other Catholics informed on what’s going on. Not much from protestants until they jump on a Catholic thread just to try to stir the pot.

So while I don't have much time now, I can quickly do that: I'm from Buffalo, NY, now residing in "the Bible belt," though. I'm on my phone so links aren't very easy to provide, but see Catholic Charities of Buffalo.

Buffalo?

'Nuff said. That explains it all.

I have had a Catholic tell me that the WNY diocese is among the worst and most liberal in the country.

I will try to find the post. It may take some time.

After having been shredded for the accounts I relate concerning growing up Catholic, one Catholic came to my defense and didn’t accuse me of being a liar.

Here’s the link and comment.....

“I’m sorry to hear it, metmom, though truthfully, it doesn’t surprise me. Central/Western NY is governed by the appalling bishops of Albany (Hubbard) and Rochester (Clark). I don’t know which one is worse; it’s a close call.

Both bishops allow and preach things in direct opposition to Vatican policy so it doesn’t surprise me that your family think they’re in the clear.

Combine poor catechesis with the extremely liberal political outlook of many in those areas, I can certainly see why your family have turned out the way they have. It isn’t easy being a conservative in ANY part of NY, trust me.

Oddly, the dioceses downstate are somewhat more orthodox, though of course they sure can come up with some humdingers on occasion. Still, these downstate bishops can’t hold a candle to the heterodoxy and outright dissidence of Bishops Hubbard and Clark.

I feel sorry for your family; they aren’t getting the straight scoop from the men charged with shepherding them. Hopefully, when these two retire, the Holy Father will assign more orthodox bishops to their dioceses. Bishop Clark just turned 75, I believe, so his retirement is imminent. Bishop Hubbard is 74, so he’s got another year or so.

I wonder what your family’s reaction would be if they got a traditional, orthodox bishop calling the shots. I will pray that they see the light.

Regards,”

Not a fortune teller.

Just believes Scripture.

2 Timothy 4:1-5 I charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom: preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching. For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths. As for you, always be sober-minded, endure suffering, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.
