Just curious, but I (as a non-Catholic Christian) just want to ask any Catholic friends on here, if you at times personally (or even in a Mass/Church setting) ever use ANY Protestant made media that glorify Jesus (and by extension his apostles and the Old Testament saints)?
Do you ever listen to "Christian" music that was created by evangelical Christians, and played on such radio networks suck as K-LOVE, or ever read/watch any sermons by evangelists/pastors such as Bill Graham (and family), John Piper, etc..
Do you ever use Protestant produced Bible-studies?
I know that for myself, I HAVE Obviously watched such classic Christian movies such as Jesus of Nazareth, and The Passion (which were obviously Catholic produced films), and have caught your ETWN network from time to time (though I don't agree with the theology sometimes).
Just curious..
J.S.
Catholics use the full KJV — I am unsure what you mean by “edit versions.”
There were some attempts to re-translate from the original Latin, Greek and Aramaic (”Good News for Modern Man”) but I don’t think it ever got traction.
Okay. Sorry if I came on strong. On FR there is a lot of competition between religions. Lots of Catholic bashing and Catholic arrogance on FR.
We ARE one in Christ (to me) and that's all that really matters.
God bless!
I should say Old Testament believers, such as Abraham, Moses, David, the prophets, etc..
listening to music, watching billy graham, all those things including the reading material left by the jehovah witnesses. it is all good.
the choice is personal, the message is clear. jesus is the path and there are many roads to him or hymn... hehehe

Yeah, all the time. I also volunteer for Focus on the Family which is headquartered a couple of miles from my house.
Love Christian music, writing, CS Lewis, books and yes, I’ll use a protestant bible in a pinch.
This is a very good question, by the way.
Some Protestant hymns like “How Great Thou Art” and “How can I keep from singing (a Shaker hymn)” are used during the Mass. Other than that, Protestant media is not used. I don’t think that it is out of doctrinal differences, but due to the structure of Catholic worship. The order of the Mass is highly structured and there are very specific rules. For example, people recently complained that Pope Francis celebrated Mass with flowers on the altar, which is forbidden.
I do not know the percentage of Catholics who listen to Christian music, but I am guessing that it is not that great. Again, this relates to the music we associate with worship. Speaking only for myself, I prefer the Latin hymns because they speak to the age and world-wide scope of the RCC.
Lastly, again speaking only for myself, Catholic worship is focused on the Eucharist. It has been said that the Mass is like a drama building to the point when the priest consecrates the host. So music and sermons (or homilies as we call them) play a secondary role IMO. In fact, there are Masses (usually early or weekday masses) where there is no music at all and homilies are kept to a few words.
That’s just my take. Interesting question, though.
I have the proof!
Secretly taken picture of previously unknown Catholic Ritual:
The REAL Pope (Patrick Stewart):
Well I appreciate your response, I would say that NO, some of these “religions” do not lead to Christ.
I haven’t studied official Catholic theology (from Rome or any of your orders), however, myself personally I simply believe the whole Bible (literally as history), and actually in what Jesus said (and was made to say through various prophets, apostles that He sent to testify about Himself).
I DO KNOW that Jehovah’s Witnesses and others DO NOT hold to correct doctrine, as they actually change the words of the Bible (and hence) create a false God that isn’t the same as the God of the Bible.

Same here. I don't recall any brawls erupting at the holiday dinner table. :)
Music ... Every day. Movies, books, etc. ... yes.
Why the curiosity about this? Just asking ...
Amen, and bumped.
in the Spirit, i study every sacred source that comes into my hands or leads me back to His Word: historical, scientific, catholic, protestant, and non-denominational. i believe that our Lord has no dog in any of these fights.
Then you simply weren't a member of my family! And I'm probably older than you, when the mutual suspicions were quite outspoken in society at large. In fact, you can find them to this day, almost every day, here on FR in the religion forum.
I live in an area of North Carolina (moved here in the late summer of 2013) in which a lot of Catholic migrants from the North East have moved, so it is good for me to understand ya’ll better ;)! Thanks fellow Christians!
and as a musician, i put no limits on my sacred music listening. there is so much beauty in the sacred music of all traditions.
The King James Version is EDITED to exclude at least 7 books of the Bible.
The KJV is a PROTESTANT BIBLE.
KJV does NOT include:
1 Maccabees
2 Maccabees
Tobit
Judith
Wisdom
Baruch
Sirach
and Chapters 13 & 14 from Daniel.
PLEASE. Enough of the Catholic bashing.
AMEN!
Well, there are some Catholics that want absolutely nothing to do with Protestants. My mother’s aunt was an ardent catholic and otherwise a very worldly woman, but she did not like Billy Graham. And when I worked for Barnes & Noble, a customer was looking for bibles and for whatever reason, I mentioned the King James bible and the woman responded in horror, saying “oh, no, that’s a Protestant Bible!” which I found a little humorous since I knew the history of King James and the Stuarts and the Catholic Church. And my brother, also an ardent catholic, is no fan of the Protestants, or the Jews for that matter.
So you probably will run into some issues. Take it from an Irish Catholic from Boston!
