CATECHISM OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH SECOND EDITION

PART ONE THE PROFESSION OF FAITH SECTION TWO THE PROFESSION OF THE CHRISTIAN FAITH

CHAPTER THREE I BELIEVE IN THE HOLY SPIRIT

ARTICLE 9 "I BELIEVE IN THE HOLY CATHOLIC CHURCH"

Paragraph 6. Mary - Mother of Christ, Mother of the Church

963 Since the Virgin Mary's role in the mystery of Christ and the Spirit has been treated, it is fitting now to consider her place in the mystery of the Church. "The Virgin Mary . . . is acknowledged and honored as being truly the Mother of God and of the redeemer. . . . She is 'clearly the mother of the members of Christ' . . . since she has by her charity joined in bringing about the birth of believers in the Church, who are members of its head."502 "Mary, Mother of Christ, Mother of the Church."503

Respectfully disagree. We are told in the Bible to test all spirits.

Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. 2This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, 3but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world. 1 John 4:1-2

We can also test what is being said by measuring it against the Bible. If it doesn't square with the Bible, toss it out as it is not from God.

You have not shown the use of Lord in Luke 1:43 means “YHWH.”

>>Pope Stephen VI (896–897), who had his predecessor Pope Formosus exhumed, tried, de-fingered, briefly reburied, and thrown in the Tiber.[<<

I’m wondering the de-fingering part of this. Dude was dead, a corpse and taking the fingers off would not be painful. But then again recently we found out about how the current Pope did some casket nicking for rosary beads. So maybe the finger cutting was to get any rings.

Seems like a lot of us have been given the finger in these C vs P threads.

Why would you post to everyone that you changed your screen name if you didn’t want us to ask why? It is odd you have to admit. It goes to credibility. Don’t you agree?

Some things needed reforming. The CHURCH DID NOT need to be broken up. Jesus weeps.

“Hatred and insecurity about their OWN faith”

The protestants on FR that constantly belittle and putdown in any and all things Catholic are the ones with an “insecurity about their own faith”. They are absolutely incapable of leaving Catholics alone to worship their faith. I can start a Catholic Caucus thread, which means no protestants allowed, and within minutes some protestant appears running down the Catholic faith, saying what was just posted is all wrong. Invariably the Religion Moderator will have to delete their posts and remind them of the rules of the Caucus. They know the rules. They just want to stir up trouble till they get ran off the board.

Can you post the links to protestants coming to Catholic caucus threads and disrupting them? Thanks,

I don’t have to show that it means that. Jesus is God.

The CHURCH DID NOT need to be broken up.
Jesus weeps.

If the 'church' had done the reforming sooner; then nothing would have gotten broken.

To blame ANYONE but the 'church' is shameful.

As for Jesus weeping; I find no evidence of that.

Well; shame on BOTH of them!

I'm sure glad that there are NO Catholics who 'constantly belittle and putdown' all things PROTESTant in these theads!!

Why; when merely a blanket ACCUSATION will get the job done?

So let me see if I understand this....

Calling Mary *mother of Jesus* denies the deity of Christ, making that person a heretic. Correct?

No one here on the thread has denied or questioned the Deity of Jesus Christ. Some have accused others of such because they have asked for scriptural evidence for the title mother of God for Mary. It does not exist and thus the opposing Roman Catholic rebut has been if you deny Mary the title of Mother of God you must also deny the Deity of Jesus Christ which is a fallacious and dishonest assertion.

That is because by denying the supererogatory adulation of Mary and attribution of uniquely Divine attributes, you have denied the manner of goddess-deity ascribed to here.

Of course, according the same zealots, if you deny the Real Presence®, then you are lost, despite what Lumen Gentium says (always open to interpretation):

This was dramatically explained by the Savior when He foretold the Eucharist and told His followers they were to believe in Him to have eternal life. Yes, they would have this life and he saved, provided they accepted the truth of His Real Presence. - http://www.therealpresence.org/archives/Church_Dogma/Church_Dogma_040.htm
