The other day I posted about the installation of a new Communion rail in the Church of St. Mary in Pine Bluff, WI. HERE
Now I read that a new rail will be installed in St. Joseph’s Church in Macon, GA.
The unanimous consensus was conveyed to Bishop Hartmayer [in the diocese of Savannah] and he approved of the decision. Then a small fund raiser was carried out and as if God Himself endorsed our plan, out of the blue a large, large bequest was given to us in a Last Will and Testament of a wonderful parishioner who requested her bequest be used for sanctuary improvements only!
All this took place within a year! And yesterday, March 14th, 2014, almost ten years after the decision was made to remove the altar railing, Bishop Hartmayer signed the contract to have the construction begin.
The extension of the floor should start in about a couple of weeks. The marble and brass gates will take longer to fabricate but I pray it will be installed in the next six months. But the floor will be ready to receive it when it arrives.

Fr. Z Kudos to Bp. Hartmayer, and to the VG there, and to the pastor Fr. McDonald.
This, dear readers, is the way we need to go. This does more for the New Evangelization than any number of initiatives you might dream up.
Don’t be shaken. Don’t be anxious or downhearted. Do not flag. Do not waiver.
Ping!
God always provides. His timetable isn’t always the same as ours, but he still ALWAYS provides.
It will come to all of our churches. Pray and pray and pray.
.
Seriously, what the h*ll is that???
This took place in a Catholic church?
That is the opening rite to the LOS ANGELES RELIGIOUS EDUCATION CONGRESS at the Anaheim convention Center.
Buffoonery on parade.
How does this work in a “Novus Ordo” Mass? Is it still celebrated that way but at the time to receive Communion the communicants go up to the rail and kneel?
Is the Precious Blood distributed in this fashion as well?
Was that an opening to a Mass?
I don’t think so.
Well thank God for that at least.
That poor bishop looks so sad.
The more fool he, then. As chief liturgist of the Diocese, he could have preemptively stopped this. If he didns’dt know his sort of thing would happen, he’s been asleep at the wheel.
Um...........One problem, what about those with bad knees? As wonderful as holy communion rails are, they can become really, really problematic for folks like me who have bad knees.
OMG!!! OMG!!!! God will NOT be mocked!!!
You stand.
[sigh]...The planet is burning with the malevolence of the Evil One, the need to bring souls to Christ has never been greater, we may indeed be on the verge of the Second Coming....and we’re dickering over whether to stand or kneel for Communion, and in precisely which place in the building.
Drives me almost as nuts as five years of Vatican deliberations on whether to say “one in being” or “consubstantial” during the Creed.
Offer it up to the souls in Purgatory.
Just to be clear, I’m not “dickering” about kneeling or not kneeling for Communion, or whether a church should have a Communion rail. I was just wondering given the presence of a Communion rail, how does that work with the “Novus Ordo”.
Do the communicants kneel to receive Communion, to they all stand (those with and without health problems) do they still receive in a line or do they stand/kneel at the rail.
I was only asking these questions out of curiosity, not to argue about it, as the only time I’ve participated in a Mass where a Communion rail was present it was a Traditional Latin Mass, not the Novus Ordo.
