Father God, You are our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore, we will not fear. Even though the earth be removed and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea. We are not moved because we are children of the Most High. How we praise You for this. What a wonderful God You are.

We delight in being co-laborers with Your Spirit in bringing Your will to earth as it is in Heaven. How awesome are You that You would ask us to pray so that You can surely answer by Your grace. It is in the name of Jesus Christ that we pray.

So today we pray for GRACE for our military men and women, our Olympian team and our Nation. None of us deserve this, of course, but “by grace we have been saved through faith, and that not of ourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.” For our military, be their “hiding place. Protect them from trouble and surround them with songs of deliverance”. For our Olympian teams, help them to perform to the best of their ability and bring them home safely. With both groups, may Your children among them shine as bright lights, drawing people to You.

For our Nation, I cannot but put You in remembrance of Your promise that as we pray for those in authority, “that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence.” So, Father, we pray for all of our leaders and judges that they might come to the knowledge of the truth that there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus. For our part today, we commit to be still, and know that You are God. You will be exalted among the nations, You will be exalted in the earth! The LORD of hosts is with us; The God of Jacob is our refuge.

Well I always pray for the nation and military, but don’t see why I should be praying that a sports teams win games. I don’t pray for a team in the NFL, NBA or MLB to win, so I won’t be wasting my time on praying for Johnny Skier winning the down hill. I will pray for their safety with the muzzie terrorists who want to blow them up.
