We Are Not "All God's Children"
World Net Daily ^ | 2-7-14 | Matt Barber

Exclusive: Matt Barber explains how Jesus is both exclusive and inclusive

You’ve heard it said that “We are all God’s children.” This rings flowery and nice.

It’s an insidious lie.

Indeed, God both created and loves – in a way most unfathomable – everyone who ever lived. He wove us together in our mother’s womb and numbered our every hair. But God the Father has only one begotten Son. The rest of us, in order to become one of God’s children, must be adopted – in, by and through – the One Who is the Son: Jesus Christ. Those who are not adopted are not children of God. Christ and Christ alone is “the way, the truth and the life.”

Indeed, to become a child of God, we must ask God – through Christ – to adopt us. We mustn’t just believe upon Him – for “Even the demons believe that” (see James 2:19) – but, rather, we must also accept Him. We must follow Jesus, the one true God, as our only God. “But to all who believed him and accepted him (Jesus), he gave the right to become children of God.” (John 1:12)

Don’t believe? Don’t accept? You have no right to become a child of God.

And that’s unholy hell.

I’m not here to question God. I can neither fully understand nor explain why what He says it is so. I can only convey to you that He unmistakably, unequivocally and without stuttering, says it is so.

Good point: to become sons (and daughters) of God, we must become like the Son of God. That means we must take up our crosses and follow Him.

Romans 1 answers your question. The cause of damnation is not failure to place faith in Jesus but rather sinning against God. If ignorance is a free pass then Jesus didn’t need to come to save the elect. In fact his earthly mission would have condemned more than He saved.

If you are so worried about the aboriginal you should rush down and spread the Gospel.

But Scripture teaches she isn’t really ignorant. That’s the whole point of Romans 1. Read the chapter carefully. It’s quite clear. There are no innocents.

I’d really like biblical support for that claim.

She may be more enlightend by grace than we, but we must act as if she depends on us. We have been commanded. and, indeed, to our next door neighbor who may have a greater need then she.

And again, I think this is a brouhaha over very little.

The bible does use the term “children of wrath.” (Didn’t use a concordance; it just came to me.)

So there. Even the lost are, in a sense, children of God. But they don’t all go to an equally nice place. I guess you could call hell an eternal timeout, where they get to throw an eternal tantrum. (Their miseries are self imposed but preferred by them to giving in to heaven.)

How about we talk about something useful, like how to get the gospel out?

How about you caring enough about the lost yourself? There is now worldwide connectivity. What worldwide accessible gospel initiatives are YOU initiating? (I’m initiating plenty, personally.)

No, no, no—God loves the children He made and He is fair. (I am being taught—by a wonderful pastor)

The millenium (The Lord’s Day) is the thousand years that those who have been uninformed, or not taught during this age, will have the opportunity to choose between our Father and the anti-christ.

Even the pygmies in darkest regions OR Christians being led astray by their “teachers” will have another opportunity to choose—and, after all, our Father DID give us the gift of free will.

I have always been confused by the Bible—too many words I didn’t understand or references to an earlier time I couldn’t see and understand; but, when you have the blessing of a good teacher, it is a gift.

“Even without the gospel she is without excuse.”

She will have the opportunity for salvation during the millenium.

Do you honestly believe God made her only to deny her salvation?

If such a theory can get around the flat statement that it is appointed once for man to die and then the judgment, more power to its investigation. But otherwise that sounds like folly. IMHO.

Looks to me like more conventional time line layouts are true. However, we sometimes try to use the reasoning of the mortal coil to try to explain what the psalmist said was too wonderful for him. The result will be nonsense, just as it will be nonsense to try to constrain a 3-D world with 2-D equations. If we must use modern parlance, then God can make causation work “backwards in time.”

Hey Matt,

This is not the God Jesus taught us, okay? If this is what you're getting from Jesus's teachings, you're doing it wrong.

Please back that up with Scripture.

I won’t wait because I know you can’t do it. I know the Bible teaches that we die once and then comes the judgment. There is no second chance at salvation. Read Romans 1 carefully.

There are some things we can absolutely bank on. God is HOLY HOLY HOLY and just. He will do what is right. He will not, indeed because of His holy nature, He CANNOT wink at sin and still be God. Yes, He is loving and longsuffering, but the Bible teaches quite clearly that He will not clear the guilty (Exodus 34:7). Sin must be punished. If a man’s sin wasn’t paid for in full on that cross then he will bear the punishment himself in eternity.

“... it is appointed once for man to die and then the judgment...”

and yet, when does judgement come?
Immediately after death of the flesh?

No.
The millenium is the opportunity for teaching-—those who went without exposure to the Word during this earth age.

The White Throne Judgement is final but comes AFTER God gives His children once last opportunity to choose between loving Him or following the anti-christ.

Not even the daughter of an uncontacted aboriginal in the deep Amazon who in all her life never heard of anything beyond the limits of the forest?

Or is she exempted?

I trust that God will act justly — it may prove instructive for you to read the Old Testament:

(Gen 18:20-33)
Then the Lord said, “How great is the outcry against Sodom and Gomorrah and how very grave their sin! I must go down and see whether they have done altogether according to the outcry that has come to me; and if not, I will know.”

So the men turned from there, and went toward Sodom, while Abraham remained standing before the Lord. Then Abraham came near and said, “Will you indeed sweep away the righteous with the wicked? Suppose there are fifty righteous within the city; will you then sweep away the place and not forgive it for the fifty righteous who are in it? Far be it from you to do such a thing, to slay the righteous with the wicked, so that the righteous fare as the wicked! Far be that from you! Shall not the Judge of all the earth do what is just?”

And the Lord said, “If I find at Sodom fifty righteous in the city, I will forgive the whole place for their sake.”

Abraham answered, “Let me take it upon myself to speak to the Lord, I who am but dust and ashes. Suppose five of the fifty righteous are lacking? Will you destroy the whole city for lack of five?”

And he said, “I will not destroy it if I find forty-five there.”

Again he spoke to him, “Suppose forty are found there.”

He answered, “For the sake of forty I will not do it.”

Then he said, “Oh do not let the Lord be angry if I speak. Suppose thirty are found there.”

He answered, “I will not do it, if I find thirty there.”

He said, “Let me take it upon myself to speak to the Lord. Suppose twenty are found there.”

He answered, “For the sake of twenty I will not destroy it.”

Then he said, “Oh do not let the Lord be angry if I speak just once more. Suppose ten are found there.”

He answered, “For the sake of ten I will not destroy it.” And the Lord went his way, when he had finished speaking to Abraham; and Abraham returned to his place.

(Pv 24:)
If you faint in the day of adversity,your strength being small;
if you hold back from rescuing those taken away to death, those who go staggering to the slaughter;
if you say, “Look, we did not know this”— does not he who weighs the heart perceive it?
Does not he who keeps watch over your soul know it?
And will he not repay all according to their deeds?

The story of Rahab the harlot, and Ruth the Moabitess come to mind too.

If we Christians love God, then we should see to His will being done — hasn't he said that it is his will that none should perish? That even the destruction of the wicked men do not delight him? Hasn't he commanded us, by his son's word to "go into the whole world"? — if then we fail to tell of his goodness, then aren't we disobeying?

There are two judgments that we will be a part of.

First, the particular judgment when we meet the eternal judge, Jesus. Where we will be heading depends on our actions on earth.

Secondly, as you say, the Final Judgment (General Judgment) at the end of the world where the sheep are separated from the goats.

Salvation isn’t by chance, salvation is by GRACE (Ephesians 2:8-9). Where does the Bible teach that anyone is doomed by situation and random chance? It simply doesn’t teach that anywhere. The Bible knows nothing of chance. God is sovereign and in full control of all the circumstances of our lives, to include where we are born. The Bible teaches God is One “who worketh all things after the counsel of His own will” (Eph. 1:11).

“In Him we live, and move, and have our being” (Acts 17:28)

Many people don’t like that answer, but we must get our theology from Scripture. We can’t impose what seems right to our finite fallen minds on Scripture. And we can’t impose what we want to be true on an infinite holy God.

Read Romans 1. We all have some rudimentary knowledge of God, even if we
have never had opportunity to hear the gospel. We are responsible for acting on the truth we have, however small. Those who have heard but rejected the truth
will be judged accordingly.
