Thomas Monson issued court summons to answer allegations of fraud - 2/4/14 The Prophet of the LDS Church, Thomas S. Monson has been ordered to attend court and face allegations of fraud. A court in London, England has issued Thomas Spencer Monson with 2 summons (see below) containing allegations of seven offences in contravention of Section 1 Fraud Act 2006. Mr. Monson is required to attend the court, Westminster Magistrates Court, on 14th March 2014. The court will then almost certainly refer the case to Southwark Crown Court for further proceedings. Failure of Mr. Monson to attend the Court on 14th March may result in a warrant being issued for his arrest. The maximum penalty for the allegations contained in the summons is ten years imprisonment and a fine, for each offence. (Section 3 (b)on conviction on indictment, to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 10 years or to a fine (or to both).) Mr. Monson is entitled to a fair trial and any comments that might prejudice the case should be avoided. Further information about these allegations will be published shortly.

Weird.
Him could “he” perpetrate a fraud?
LDS is a corporation and run very much as one.
He may be the leader but, he can’t really make any decision on his own that could possibly result in fraud.
Imma gonna call BS....friggin red coats....
I do feel for the mormons who must see the inconsistencies of their religion and yet their sense of community and family and self is strongly tied to the LDS.
That said, pass the popcorn. And I pray that mormons wake up.
Could he have done something nefarious prior to be elected as ‘president’ of the LDS inc?
I doubt any elders put a gun to the guy’s head to collect tithes. Is there a nuisance law in the UK?
Besides the question of how many years ago item VII if found as fraud slaps all of Christendom, Jewish, and even Islamic religion.
Got a point there. I haven’t paid any tithing in...well I can’t remember ever actually paying any tithing. Don’t have a temple recommend either, but that’s okay with me. Nobody forces me to pay it.
I’ve invested my time in the church, but not a dime of money...oh well except fuel, food and camp spot fees for Boy Scout trips.
While I certainly believe the first 5 statements are false, proving that they are false and/or that Monson didn't believe them to be true might be difficult.
The last two are young earth creationist beliefs shared with at least a portion of traditional Christianity and which are at odds with the beliefs of much of the vocal scientific community. Don't want to set any precedents that churches are liable for tithes received while promoting beliefs that are not presently agreed with by scientists.

Yeah see post #9.
Yeah see post #9.
It is being speculated elsewhere that Monson has not beared testimony of the truthfulness of the LDS Faith since 2005, and the cause is because this fraud law went into effect.
I don’t necessarily believe that but so goes the internet. Very interesting suit that could have certain ramifications on religion in the western world.
The lawsuit hinges on the fact that the plaintiffs want their tithing money back. The tithing is required for exhalation and to be able to witness family weddings and such.
Basically these guys want their club dues back.
I wonder how the Vatican will deal with a similar suit and why they haven't been sued yet on similar grounds? Could it be that the Vatican banking coziness is ahead of LDS inc banking smooches to the NWO rulers?
I suspect the Summons is fraudulent, a hoax as it were.
Here is why I think this suit was brought. Tithing is a requirement in the LDS church. You will have a tithing meeting with the bishop at the end of the year to make sure you are in compliance.
Other Christian churches at worst will say tithing is required by God but they don’t actually sit you down with your records. Most Christian churches operate by true donations that are given freely without expectation of reward beyond what you may believe God will do for you. LDS tithing is required to participate in family functions and to make sure your dead ancestors will have the opportunity to be saved.
People are not always diligent in their research when presented with a pretty package about God and forever families.
Apparently it's a "private prosecution". So it's not a public prosecutor that is filing this. However, it can have some serious ramifications.
“I wonder how the Vatican will deal with a similar suit and why they haven’t been sued yet on similar grounds? Could it be that the Vatican banking coziness is ahead of LDS inc banking smooches to the NWO rulers?”
The combination of the order of Albino Assassin Monks and the giant supercomputer under the Vatican with all the Protestant names and locations makes putting legal pressure on the Vatican problematic.
It’s the only thing that makes sense.
If I was Monson I would refuse to go because the signature on the summons was obviously scrawled by a lower order primate, maybe a gibbon or some sort of lemur.
Freegards
Beyond a basic morality and opposition to abortion, I don’t have much in common with Mormans, and Creationists for that matter, this is a matter of faith. I might argue points but basically, it’s none of my business unless they try and restrict my beliefs. Freedom of Religion is a basic tenet of the Bill of Rights and American civilization.
